Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

TooStressyTooMessy · 31/03/2019 10:12

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

Good luck with sale and smear zoo!

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow Shock

Lisette1940 · 17/04/2019 07:51

Good luck to you both zoo and I've. How lovely to see baby I've.

Bowerbird5 · 17/04/2019 07:57

Good luck zoo.
Wow you have been busy and up early but I understand your thinking in that you get peace and get things done at that time of morning. I used to do that then got down to 2 1/2 hrs sleep at night and GP said no way could I function with so little sleep and prescribed me amityptiline sp? I get more sleep but feel a bit dopey in the mornings. I came off it twice but had to go back because of sleep problems and second time because of stress due to school. The drawback is I don’t get as much done.

Hills I didn’t realise this thread had been going for so long and about all the flylady site problems and tech stuff so thanks for the insight and history. I found this thread and it’s people very welcoming and friendly also great support rather than “ You should do xyz.” A great understanding that if you are not walking in that persons shoes 👠 you cannot understand exactly how they feel BUT you will offer tiny bits of advice and sheds loads of support unlike some posters over on some of the other threads.

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/04/2019 08:04

That is what we have always tried to do bower and why being told we were doing it wrong went down so badly. Following to the letter won't work for a lot of people. We get this.

Ive may the scan bring good news and alien pictures

Zoo hope the sale goes well.

Bowerbird5 · 17/04/2019 08:41

So,
Waves and good morning to everyone. I still haven’t caught up yet. I have been pretty busy with people coming and going then others turning up.
I did my cooking weekend and it all went smoothly even though I had a bit of a panic at the last minute because I never got around to a practice run of the curries which I haven’t made for years. However once I got started I was ok and made two meals for a small and a big who don’t like curry. I spent all day cooking on the Saturday and produced two completely different meat curries and three accompaniments that could also be main meal for veggies. An extra guest was invited last minute who happened to be...Indian! No pressure 😳😬🤣anyway it all seemed to go down well and he had a clean plate! So I was rather chuffed.
Since then I have had a visit from baby siss who hasn’t come here since her youngest was three. He is 21 now 😳. She stayed for my birthday and we had several meals out. The birthday meal didn’t turn out as well as planned the venue I chose was lovely but the food didn’t come up to the expectations and recommendation I was given...best Italian meal she had ever had. Must have had some bad meals then. My prawns were served on a chunk of bread and were difficult to eat and not as good as our local pubs. Veggie mushrooms were great. Vegan pasta dish was courgette spaghetti and DD was that struck on it. Sis liked DD better than hers. BF and I had two chicken dishes. Sauce was lovely on both but chicken overcooked( defrosted?) and the potatoes weren’t cooked enough. No side dishes and we only ordered potatoes as garlic ones thinking we would get veg. Mine had tomato, aubergines sauce BF had asparagus x2 in sauce. No vegan choices for pudding at all. Won’t be going there again. Oh and service was a bit lacking. Young girl sweet, guy in fifties grumpy and no one came to check everything was alright. Nothing said about potatoes and still charged for them. Think microwaved but struggled to cut through. I left mine in case I broke my denture.BFs were slightly better she ate half.
So disappointing and DS1worked late & DS3 decided not to come with all those women...me, his sister, aunts and my best friend who he knows much better than aunts! He does get a bit anxious about going out somewhere.

Also had trip to Lakes x two and to Newcastle. So not much flying done. DS left, DD still here till yesterday. DH returned two days late( due b’day) and we had Anniversary on Monday and DH took me to Lakes after school and we had a fantastic meal at Glenridding. So 😁 now.

Oh and also had another funeral day before my birthday. BFs step mum. Felt bad about leaving sis as it was longer than I expected. Made BF family big casserole for their tea so poor sis didn’t get much attention that day. That is three funerals in three months. I hate going but need to for the other people left behind. Still weepy about son’s friend that has hit me the hardest.
Kids still playing up at school so glad I am off today. I was asked to go and cover but I have arrangements which can’t be changed. Man and boys are finally coming with summerhouse. Yeah! It was supposed to be here for my birthday so we could have afternoon tea and later drinks ( gin) so I got onto one of his daughters and said if not here this week I wanted deposit back to go elsewhere. DD was pleased I was assertive as she says I am way to soft and that is why people walk all over me or don’t bother to follow through. I said “ Like dad.” She went quiet.

Right that is an epic post so if you got through it 🍫🍫🍫🍫🍰🍰🍰🍰🧁🧁🧁🎂🧁🎂🍰🧁🍧🍧🍡🍡🍡🍦🍦🥐🥐🍒🍒🍓🍓🥝🥭🥞🥞for the naughty corner and for zoo who is in the flylady’s parlour😁

Today’s list
Washing
Feed animals. Ha DD and DH spent hours re jigging chicken fencing completely. Higher wire, new design and stones so she can’t get under. Very smug with themselves. She was out when I came home yesterday. Took her a day and a half to find new escape root. That 🐓 is so smart!
Tidy boudoir. I did have it done for sis bar a couple of boxes in the corner. Very clean.
Do ironing blah
Make sausage sandwiches for joiner boys lunch.
Wash kitchen floor.
Tackle bathroom.

Bowerbird5 · 17/04/2019 08:43

Whoops that was longer than I imagined.

Hills yes because life gets in the way and working with kids and animals ( and partners) doesn’t mean life is smooth. But we can aspire.

ChicCroissant · 17/04/2019 10:42

IVE halfway through - hope the scan goes well and baby cooperates by facing the right way at the right time! So exciting! for us

Hills and Bower have nailed it with the difference between advice/experience and simply stating that you are 'doing it all wrong/you don't want to do it like that'.

Oops, started this post ages ago, walked away from the laptop without hitting send! Currently filling bin bags for a trip to the tip, I am just winning at life Hmm

PrincessDanae · 17/04/2019 11:02

Hi, can I join you lot please? I am desperate to get control of the chaos around me, so need some structure and some pushes to get things done (and some laughs when I fail miserably before I cry...)

PrincessDanae · 17/04/2019 11:13

So, it's bathrooms and one other room? Think I'll do my bedroom as it's linked to the en-suite - and I have to paint my room and the bathrooms (boys room too, but that can wait a smidge). So perfect timing to get it cleaned up beforehand...

To do:
Get everything off the floors in bathrooms and bedroom.... Given my room has become the dumping ground that is NOT a simple task.

Lisette1940 · 17/04/2019 11:36

Welcome PrincessDanae you can do it whatever way you like 😁. Sounds like that makes sense for you. You just jump in.

Lisette1940 · 17/04/2019 11:36

That was meant to be a smiley face Grin

PrincessDanae · 17/04/2019 11:44

Thank you Lisette. I was on the Fledglings thread many years ago so have done it before badly…. Wink

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/04/2019 12:37

ChicCroissant · 17/04/2019 12:49

Welcome PrincessDanae good to have you with us.

Just dropped a trailerful of junk and extra bags off at the tip, celebrating with a large Toffee Latte don't ask me how the diet is doing and thinking about lunch.

Also received some details for an activity DD is doing at the weekend - timing has completely changed, but luckily it's still doable!

I am enjoying getting rid of stuff at the moment, even if I find the decision-making part of the process a bit overwhelming at times. Each little bit spurs me on though, which is a good job as there is still plenty left to do, it seems a constant process!

TooStressyTooMessy · 17/04/2019 18:41

Welcome PrincessDanae Smile.

Back from work and we have eaten tea. DDs have lots of energy and are jumping around the garden. I have less energy...

Plus free bed n board.no messy house to sort
Idea is seeming better by the minute😂😂😂😂

PrincessDanae · 17/04/2019 19:57

Our dinner is Dominos pizza, so cereal is healthier than us! I was waylaid by some paying work today so have been completely ineffective with tidying up, just got home now. That is part of my problem, my works is adhoc and so I can never plan anything.

PrincessDanae · 17/04/2019 19:57

I'm sure you could find some patio plans if you google!

TooStressyTooMessy · 17/04/2019 21:05

Hi everyone.

zoo AngryAngry at your DP not helping. What a day for you! Glad you made so much money. Sorry to hear of smear test issues; very glad you went for the smear though so you can get it checked at hospital. Easy for me to say I know.

Wow Ive, 20 weeks. Has it gone quickly or slowly?

Glad weekend activity still ok for your DD Chic. You sound as if you are doing some amazing decluttering.

Princess, structure and laughs sums up this thread I think Smile. I agree with everyone else, as Hills says, following something super strictly doesn’t work for everyone - it certainly doesn’t for me. As you say lisette and as Flylady herself says, just jump in.

Bower, of course you will still feel sad about your DS’s friend. It is an extremely sad situation Flowers.

Big wing flaps to everyone else.
