Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

Ah yes, the naughty corner has been neglected of late .

Offers cornbread (sweet version) and Madeleines for the night that's in it.

ChicCroissant · 15/04/2019 22:58

I have a list of the babysteps if anyone wants them as a Word doc - I used to paste them into the bigger links although I think the link to the Launch Pad is fine. I did mean to put it in the opening/first post but I think I forgot both months!

I've been on the Notre Dame threads and had the BBC news channel on as well - we love that place, so glad we saw it before the fire. We have some fabric Christmas decorations from there, may dig them out tomorrow Sad

Top decluttering there zoo don't forget to eat properly I am impressed that you managed to remove toys. They are still a dodgy area here, even if not played with (soft toys a particular issue).

Time for a midnight snack and sleep for me, tired today.

Lisette1940 · 15/04/2019 23:08

Regarding toy decluttering: when Ds was very small I was doing a clear out and I could see a little hand reaching into a bin to pull something out. He came over to me with an accusing look on his little face. He was clutching a piece of string attached to the remains of a burst balloon.
'this was useful to me Mummy!' Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/04/2019 06:16

LisetteGrin
Chic don't get me started on soft toys!!!
He has a huge crate soft toys, and around 6he rotates as regulars which he talks to when stressed.lil zoo has a blanket box full stuffed giraffes, all have names.....

The Lego is a non negotiable all staying,so I'm not complete emptying his room.there is also extensive number of books, fact and fiction in there and his colouring book collection (colours A LOT as calming exercise) I've been dutifully informed his beloved Kirby rosanes morphia collection books will be staying once completed AND he will require copies of same books to complete pages differentlyGrin

Ok,crashed and burned on food front.todays a new day and all that.report back later....

IVEgottheDECAF · 16/04/2019 07:12

Morning all

We have too many soft toys. Dd is terrible for them. The other three arent too bad but she has to keep them all Hmm funnily enough if i get rid of a few at a time which i know she isnt attached to she never notices!
I want to have a go at dc1 and dc2s rooms this week. Probably starting with dc1 as it has the most unused stuff and i am wanting to make it more grown up ready for high school in sept

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/04/2019 07:34

Good luck I've🍀
As lil zoo knows hers by name removing even one would be noticed...

Tada
Stuck shedload lolly sticks to make crosses for Sunday school.(once dry need bind with twine)
I really want a pull duvet over head day,but ain't guna happen.need buy food.well being cafe for D's.sort girls room
Realised not booked time yet to clean church before Easter
One day I will be more organized maybe

foxessocks · 16/04/2019 07:40

Toy decluttering an issue here too! I can relate Lisette my dd always gets random objects out of the bin pile and says "I needed this!" and it's a tiny bit of cardboard or something Confused. She now has a box that she puts anything special she wants to keep in that I might confuse as rubbish Grin and every now and then I clear it out when she is at school

I managed to get dd to pass some cuddly toys on to a charity shop by laying them all out and asking her to just choose 10 that she'd like other children to have , she was quite happy with that idea. But to be fair she doesn't name most of them , so may not be as attached! As a child, I would never have let my parents throw any soft toys away!! They still have a lot of them now and they've been bringing them down from the loft for my dc to play with. Which is actually very sweet!

IVEgottheDECAF · 16/04/2019 07:47

There are too many for her to know by name, over half arent even hers. She stole most of the ones gifted to dc4 when he was born and on his first christmas. She also stole a load from dc 1 and 2 as they lost interest. She doesnt play with them. They are just in a massive bedding box. And two under bed storage boxes. She has about 15 which live on her bed / chair and i wouldnt touch those ones. I dread to think how many she actually has in her room.

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/04/2019 08:04

Sounds like lil zoo collection I've .no idea HOW she remembers their names..I only remember a few

Morning! Have done some washing up and perfunctory sink cleaning in cloakroom. Really need to do the floor of the cloakroom as well and a big pile of ironing from the laundry frenzy last week

Still dry here at the moment but a bit dull.

Will aim to do a bit of work inside DD's wardrobe, as I tend to stuff bags of things in there. Will go through bags!

Catch you later.

IVEgottheDECAF · 16/04/2019 10:08

Hello, just popping back in briefly to say to Toostressy don't worry about links. It's not worth compromising your tech security for it. One link in opening post should be fine I reckon!

Flylady is fine from where I am so I apologise for not offering to step in with link but a bit all over the place right at this moment!

I suppose the downside to not posting links is the lack of potential newcomers. And that is a shame because they keep the ball rolling as it were!

However, there is the Facebook option (oops I forgot to join so need to do that) and I guess if someone wants to remain anonymous then they can opt not to reveal themselves to everyone else! But all the links are on there, so other than the opening post, Facebook could replace all the other links, if everyone is agreeable to that? Having said all of that, I am dreadful re: tech so please tell me if I have this wrong! And please do speak up if you are a regular and don't want to use Facebook for any reason.

Hills will know more about all of this! Hope you are feeling better; don't like the thought of you ploughing on when you might need abs! Do take care of yourself X

And yes, awful about Notre Dame, Our Lady of Paris. So very sad. But thankfully no loss of life. Very lucky to avoid that.

Rather frantic wing flaps to all !

TooStressyTooMessy · 16/04/2019 12:25

Good point re newbies SC. Hard to know what to do!

Lisette1940 · 16/04/2019 12:45

Happy to join the Facebook page.

Hope everyone feeling better.

Waiting in for a parcel which was meant to be delivered tomorrow. House looking okay but flying suspended for today.

Shadycorner · 16/04/2019 13:04

The thing is, I've seen threads shrivel and die when they get too insular, or relocate to other places. And it would be a shame if that happened to this one, as I think it's a good support for those, in particular, who are looking after young uns, as that can be very isolating indeed and "ground hog day ish". It's good to have the support of others in the same situation.

However, at the same time, I feel a bit hypocritical saying that, as I don't thread lead as often as I used to, and won't be able to do as much in future either once wretched architect reappears (same with quite a few "oldies" who naturally move on when their DC grow up a bit as that's the time one tends to be able to have the time to turn attention back to work/other projects).

So I guess it's up to you with young uns to decide, but the problem with that is that, by definition, you have the least time of all to thread run although some of you kindly do!

In summary, that's a long over -convoluted way of saying maybe try with just an link in initial op (and Facebook blink or not) and see what happens? Grin

Shadycorner · 16/04/2019 13:13

Facebook blink? Hmm. I meant link!

Great guns decluttering btw Zoo good luck with the sale! I sold off DD outgrown toys and clothes nearly every year at church sale up to the point DD started wearing adult clothes and stopped growing so much around 14 yrs. Great thing to do!

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/04/2019 14:03

The thread curled up and died before, when lil zoo was small
Was glad to see it resurrected and it's like home here❤️

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/04/2019 14:05

Tada
Town as out of kibble(45 mins walk each way)
Wellbeing.finished put twine around last 50 lolly stick crosses(100 total) and hand them over ready for Sunday school
Pop local shops bread,milk,yogurts,fruit etc
Lunch

And my next trick is attempt declutter girls room of doom, followed by a bath for Mr scoutcat as he's covered in what I think us plaster dust....

Shadycorner · 16/04/2019 14:09

But that was a different thread Zoo as Hills explained some months ago; there were two! Smile. I assure you I've been on this one from the beginning with Hills and PA and Expletive* way back when and it's been a continuous thread from the start! Scouts honour! Smile

Shadycorner · 16/04/2019 14:11

Oh dear, sorry, mahoosive over-emboldening mistake there! Apologies. Just meant to embolden names! There were lots of others who were with us at the start, or near start, too!

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/04/2019 14:28

Entered put of doom need to access cupboard in the corner.lil zoo dirty washing EVERYWHERE.scoop that into basket(next to where she just throws it) and I find a layer of "stuff" felt pens, hair stuff, gift bag of things only took up other day out of bag all over floor.god knows what else.abd both girls sit watch random crap in dd2 phone.im so exhausted and mentally drained I've just come back down and sat down.i could easily go to sleep I'm so tired and discouraged..every step forward met with multiples backwards...
