Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

zoo Flowers you do need to look after yourself, I don't know how you do it all. Please eat properly, you cook such lovely stuff.

Waiting in and hoping that the post comes with a game in the next hour - the game to go with the piece of equipment I bought from the chazzer last week!

Will catch up properly later.

Cagliostro · 15/04/2019 08:26

Well done for the plan zoo if it helps you can think of it also as setting a good example for their future adulthood. You cook amazing food I’m always jealous of :o so I hope you can learn to enjoy it too. It is totally exhausting having an anxious child - I find it hard to cope for the two weeks of melatonin breaks as it is, I would really struggle going back full time now.

(Incidentally that Harry Potter wordsearch book has been a mixed bag since she’s been ranting about words being in the wrong section...)

It’s amazing what self care does. I’ve been hearing more and more about my dad’s new gym routines and now he gets up early, he used to sleep in till midday and just sit online all the time, he’s even off ADs now. Shock

I need a plan for self care too. Gym is definitely a good start for me (only possible because of DH being around full time though, ie no need to arrange childcare) but when I’m at home I’m just a mess. Eating crap, staring into space, not using my brain at all... sometimes I go days without leaving the house and that’s really affecting my anxiety.

I’m sitting up in bed at least, better night than the previous one (DH and I swapped, the super hard sofa bed is probably better for DH’s back anyway) but trying to share a single bed with a wrigglesome toddler is getting more difficult.

Really nervous about London today still :( even though it’ll mostly be DH in charge of the toddler.

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/04/2019 08:35

Good luck today *.

Ok, I am getting up...

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/04/2019 09:23

cag good luck with london.remember things are rarely as bad as we anticipateFlowers

Well I've just lost my shit...lil zoo had epic tantrum about not being allowed sit on sofa and eat breakfast(spills stuff everywhere) I was so angry I grabbed coat and walked out.got two streets away tears stream down my face and thought who will take care if them if I don't/can't..
Plodded back.need get some glue so "taking" dragging them all down to shops as suns shining then start the deep clear out on return
I've just eaten a wispa rather than breakfastBlush

Cagliostro · 15/04/2019 09:28

I think they probably needed to see that tbh zoo - teens and preteens can be selfish little buggers and actually learning the hard way the effect they can have on people is a valuable lesson xxx

I am starting to calm down a bit, as we have more of a plan in place. Still regretting not bringing the last of my propranolol with me though. It’s DH who will be navigating busy buses with the buggy not me thankfully. But there are demonstrations somewhere along the bus route we would be using. Argh.

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/04/2019 12:27

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/04/2019 12:42

Woo hoo keep going zoo.

Ta da:-
Laundry in progress but it is very slow getting it put away
Helped DD1 with holiday homework
Tidied up breakfast stuff... just in time to start lunch Hmm.

To do:-
Tidy away art stuff
Laundry
Lunch

Cagliostro · 15/04/2019 18:39

That’s amazing zoo well done! I think we need a toy declutter again. DD1 plays with virtually nothing now. 😭

Well we made it there and back in one piece, all knackered! DS really loved the lecture and I am even more inspired to move onto atomic structure after Easter the journey back was stressful and tiring as I was carrying her in the sling and the trains and buses were busy.

But it’s all done and now we are home preparing to have dad’s chips which are officially the best in the universe.

MogTheSleepyCat · 15/04/2019 18:52

Evening fledglings.

Zoo - I am so sorry to hear everything got too much. I'm sure we can all relate to being utterly depleted and drained by our offspring. You sound a little better now, hope you can have a restful evening.

Cag - London sounds good; you were brave going during the school holidays!

Some TaDas from me:
Triaged laundry - two loads done, one hung up, folded and put away two baskets of dry stuff
Made beds
Errands - posted eBay sales at post office, took DH shirts to dry cleaners, trip to park, top up shop
Nap on sofa
Washed up baking trays
Sorted recycling
Dinner into slow cooker
Cats and DS fed.

DH is doing the bed time routine tonight and I plan to read and ignore the rest of the housework.

Lisette1940 · 15/04/2019 18:54

Off topic but Notre Dame in Paris is on fire. Looks bad Sad

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/04/2019 19:03

Oh no LisetteSad

I never got any further a load wash I couldn't tumble dry end up in the girls room on airer with a heater on it to get it dry for 6 hrs(at risk cats/zoolets knock it off and get it filthy again if left or room in use)
Girls room can be tackled tomorrow
I wasted a lot of time on MN/Pinterest/alphabetty which i am mad at myself for tbh.also had a short nap(30mins) as exhausted

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/04/2019 21:03

Star great work in London Cag.

Just had a look at the news online lisette; that looks terrible Sad.

Flylady website still says not secure. I’ve tried it on my laptop tonight and it says not secure on that too.

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 15/04/2019 21:22

Yeah I don't think that if it is the security license that it will change. There was a bit of a ho-ha after a change in rules as to secure/not secure which involved rather high fees. Or some such. iirc. I just can't remember if it was Europe or world wide based and cba to hunt that info down right now. Long and short is USE FLYLADY SITE AT YOUR OWN RISK. got it? Ok it should be fine but see previous shouting.

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/04/2019 21:29

Ah ok thanks Hills. So do you reckon do the launchpad link each time with just some big scary capitals in a disclaimer then? It’s at the edge of my understanding of these things Blush. I’ll put the link on tomorrow. Most of us know where the site is by now anyway Grin.

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 15/04/2019 21:36

It is a good job I know my ex-MIL means no harm. I was greeted by the words - you look like hell, forgive me if I stay well away from you.
I will be honest I feel like crap. Heading for an early night and will confirm what I think is wrong with the flylady site in the morning.

HillsBesideTheSea · 15/04/2019 21:37

Let me have a look tomo stressy it should be easy to confirm if my hunch is true.

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/04/2019 21:39

Eeek she didn’t sugar coat it did she Hills?! Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, that would be great. There’s no rush as long as people are ok without the links / website for a while.

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 15/04/2019 21:50

Pharmacist politely pointed out I should probably get checked out by the doctor. It is on my to do list. Just hoping I can last until Wednesday as I really need to be in work to finish up a project tomo. I am actually hoping it is just a virus but fearing it is going to need a dose of antibiotics.

Going to be honest I don't think many of us look at the links these days. Although I think I have a list of the babysteps somewhere. I know that no 17 is the early night one if that helps anyone?

Lisette1940 · 15/04/2019 21:54

I'm not having problems with the Flylady site, strangely enough.

Lisette1940 · 15/04/2019 21:56

Oops - ignore that last comment ConfusedBlush

As you were...

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/04/2019 21:59

No I don’t think we do either! I do think things are better with the shortened links so just linking the launchpad - it is one of the parts of the website that work well as all the day-to-day basic stuff is easy to find from there.

I did wonder if we should just put the launchpad up once as a very obvious link in the OP or as the next post (along with the other links we usually put in the OP) as I am not sure of the need to have it linked every day. Not sure if that is a step too far for people though?

OP posts:
foxessocks · 15/04/2019 22:00

I don't usually look at much other than which zone we are in tbh which is also on the flylady FB page which I now know about Grin

If it helps anybody it's bathroom plus one other room this week!

Anyway, don't worry about posting links if you're worried toostressy , I wouldn't have a clue either!

foxessocks · 15/04/2019 22:03

X post toostressy I'm fine with that, I'm just hear for the chat Grin and to sort of slightly keep my toe in with a bit of fly lady style housework once in a while...Grin

foxessocks · 15/04/2019 22:03

Oops *here not hear Blush
