Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

TooStressyTooMessy · 31/03/2019 10:12

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

Hope everyone has good day.

TooStressyTooMessy · 14/04/2019 13:32

Hi all, just finished at party and off to a friend’s house now.

Cag, I can SO sympathise with staying at parents and the kids just wanting to go shopping. What did you decide in the end?

I love your posts Bower, they are always so picturesque Smile.

Yes, I can relate too foxes Hmm.

Enjoy time with DD1 zoo.

I would not inflict the victim on you SC you are too lovely for that.

I have a cold/virus/bug from hell going on atm. But I have washed a duvet and some blankets, disassemble the lounge hoovering under everything, tidied the lounge, rearranged furniture, unburried the dining room table, granted ds more time away (which means less eeeek get all the things done and also means I can go to bed early in the hopes of shifting this bug), aired out the house much to the disgust to people who are complaining 18C is cold, sorted lunch for 4, dealt with arguing parents, sorted plant pots for washing, coordinated plans for 5 people with different ideas, agreed to and Ikea trip in the school holidays, been an oracle on local festivals, sorted out storage of stuff for the charity shop before we are able to get there, hand washed wool socks for ds, sorted out yet more making plans that no one has time for.

I am currently sat in bed waiting for some pain killers to kick in because I have earache and sore throat from hell along is stuffy sinuses and brain. Apparently it works better if you actually move to get water for taking the pain killers but that feels like too much effort atm. so I will sit for another 15mins and then take the pain killers. Blush before i start to tackle all the other things that need doing today/tonight. Early night is high on the priority as is a hot bath I feel.

IVEgottheDECAF · 14/04/2019 15:57

I highly recommend one of those microwave heat bags on your ear for ear ache! Recently had very long stabby ear infection!

Shsdycorner · 14/04/2019 16:17

Lisette1940 · 14/04/2019 16:42

Hills, zoo sorry to hear that today's been how it's been. Hoping for some respite for you both. FlowersFlowers

Shsdycorner · 14/04/2019 17:09

Glad the birthday outing went well in the end Zoo and dd2 had a good time!

I don't seem able to keep warm this afternoon ( v unusual for me!) it's freezing here! Enjoyed cold dog walk though. DD has been studying madly. Two projects on the go. Out to multilingual mass now for half past the hour, followed by steak, kale and chips (holiday treat!). Then family film: Robin Hood (chosen by DD).

Have a good evening everybody!

foxessocks · 14/04/2019 18:06

sc ooh steak and chips, can't wait till I can have steak again (braces mean I can't atm!)

The day got better but I'm definitely in a bit of a hormonal fog , very tired and unmotivated. But we did manage a bike ride this afternoon which definitely helped. And dh made a lovely potato and leek soup for dinner which is just the kind of wholesome food I needed! (He also made chocolate cookies 🌟 )

Cagliostro · 14/04/2019 18:31

Euwww sc at the gross alarm call! :(

Hope you feel better soon hills and anyone else ailing!

I’m really pleased stressy DCs did cheer up at the prospect of crazy golf, the big park here has a little course (actually one used for competitions apparently, but it’s not a fancy seaside type one) so we got the bus there. By the time we were all ready I’d woken up a bit more anyway and it was nice to be outside and walk round the lake etc. We did go into town but only very briefly in a rush for baby wipes! And I got DD a Harry Potter wordsearch book I’d promised her (something to do in bed while she is off her melatonin). And shared a Krispy Kreme 😋🤫

I am tiiiired and it’s london tomorrow, royal institution lecture on the periodic table with DS!

MogTheSleepyCat · 14/04/2019 18:34

Evening all, hope you have all had good weekends, and those poorly and tired fledglings are tucked up and on the mend.

I had my Christmas present from my in-laws this weekend - an overnight spa stay. 'Twas lovely.

So obviously no flying done but hey, don't care. Will fold and put away some laundry whilst DS gets to sleep in a bit.

TooStressyTooMessy · 14/04/2019 19:54

Oh how lovely Mog Smile. What an awesome present from in-laws! I love a spa day and an overnight stay must have been AMAZING.

Sounds a great day tomorrow Cag and good news on crazy golf success today. We are off to my parents for Easter on Friday and I am trying to be zen about it but can feel the stress building.

Star for your DH’s cooking foxes.

Hope you get your early night Hills.

I am trying a new tactic and am trying to be more productive between 7 and 8 pm as I said. New plan is to make myself a coffee or tea at or just before 7pm then do a sort of power hour before bedtime. Obviously working around what the kids need. It’s going ok so far tonight.

I count updating this thread as being productive when I am being thread leader Grin. Getting sucked into a MN debate about whether you really can ‘have it all’ in life (of course you can’t) is perhaps less productive Hmm.

I am awarding myself a Star as I bought a Christmas thing today. It’s actually a little Xmas decoration making kit that the girls can do then give to grandparents as decorations. DH looked a bit bemused but I have assured him that Christmas planning is an all year round activity. Apologies to those of you who disagree Grin.

Going to get on now.

Website still saying ‘not secure’. Interestingly I tried another website that I know is usually fine (for a local attraction) and it also said ‘not secure’ but have tried a few other websites, Marks and Spencer’s etc and they all seem fine.

So I am at a bit of a loss. It’s the weekend so perhaps if it is a security certificate as Hills says it might be then that will be noticed tomorrow by the Flylady team. I guess I’ll see what it looks like tomorrow and perhaps try on a computer.

If in doubt shine your sink and do a before bed routine.

In the morning get dressed as soon as you wake up (ish, if that is practical for you) and find some hotspots!

Good morning all!
We are off to spend some quality time with 🐎😁♥

Hope everyone has a good week and those who are unwell feel better soon X

How lovely re: spa Mog! And what lovely in-laws!

Enjoy the Smoke Cag!

Love a good leek & potato soup Foxes!

Wing flaps to everyone else!

[Stokes fire. Puts kettle on. Leaves out trays of sliced mango, pineapple, and stacks of Danish pastries in naughty corner for everyone to help themselves. Grabs spotted handerkechief on a pole and heads out the door, followed by two eager daschunds.]

Tally-hooooooooooooooo!

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/04/2019 07:22

foxessocks · 15/04/2019 07:27

Oh that’s good SC that you got a present too. Ok, will stop talking about the C word now Grin.

Last lazy morning of holidays. Ought to get up in a minute though.

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/04/2019 08:01

I am not going to buy any c word presents until baby has arrived, i often buy far too much when i start early!

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/04/2019 08:10

I have reached the point I know I need to DO something...
reality is D's isn't going to return to quiet calm happy child he once was.i love him dearly, but he's bloody hard work at the moment.doesnt settle to sleep, frets over EVERYTHING starting to refuse do a lot of things outside house, melting down at things like laughing whilst eating(in case we all choke and die).it feels like he's sucking the laughter from our home
The house is a sty,I can't make it sound better.it's not.years of "d"p thinking he can buy to make up for lack emotional presence has left us drowning in "stuff" .trying to find homes for the endless piles things everywhere is exhausting and stressful(sounds silly but it doesn't make for a calm environment when cat Knocks piles random stuff over,or can't find something and they turn place into a bombsite in seconds)
Dp- is who he is I can't change that, but accepting he's not going to be much help makes me less resentful.abd more willing to just let go of trying if he's not making efforts for us

Right enough self pity...
Church are having a fun day on Wednesday, with tables for £5.todays plan is total ruthless sort out with intent selling anything not used/wanted.funds will buys paint for start D's room make over or if more substantial fix cooker/buy new one

On D's front I need make a plan,a routine AND STICK TO IT rather than buckle.esp with bedtime as I feel soul sucked by 9pm and it's leaving me drained and depressed...

And on that note it's time I accepted I can't take care if them if I'm not looking after myself AT ALL.was never taught to self care as a kid and I find it all an effort in a sea of to dos.well time to suck it up buttercup and stop ignoring myself at the most basic levels.i fret over what they eat,yet survive on chocolate/sweets,bread,cheese and bananas mainlyBlushmy guts play up a lot,and it's going to be a long slow process learning to eat properly again, but here goes nothing

Sorry for the waffling but I needed to write it down, have a reference to poke myself with

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/04/2019 08:13

Oh zoo Flowers. That sounds like a really sensible plan.
