Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

Morning everyone.

I’ll take some coffee if there’s any left Ive, although like *, it needs to have caffeine please! Glad you have felt a bit better lately.

Thanks for the info Hills, that makes sense. The website is still saying ‘not secure’ for me so I’ll check it again later.

Hope you get to post office on time SC.

Very nice of your DD to wash the floor Bower.

Nothing planned today. Won’t get away with doing absolutely nothing but at least have had a lazy morning so far. Annoyingly may need to nip out to shop for something later.

So plan is to do home bleugh and look into school homework. My DDs will love it GrinHmm.

Morning all. A miracle has happened, DS was showered and dressed AND packed for a visit to grandma by 9am! DD is packed but now showering. I’m still in jammies as is the baby. Not packed either.

Not done any more decluttering this week :(

Cagliostro · 13/04/2019 09:13

Guess I can’t manage decluttering AND gym on the same day Hmm

Happy birthday DD2 zoo

Lisette1940 · 13/04/2019 09:36

It's catching Cags. You've inspired me to go to the pool. Very heavy at the moment and feeling unfit. Just not making the time.

TooStressyTooMessy · 13/04/2019 11:28

Happy birthday to your DD2 zoo SmileFlowers!

Yes, I said ok another thread on here that going to the gym is so time consuming! While I may be fitter since joining, I am spending money on gym fees and physio and it takes so long especially if you factor in showering and changing after so I often don’t and just stay in gym clothes. Not sure what the answer is really as my feet can’t deal with running as my only exercise and other forms are more time consuming. Have had much better results from an actual gym vs home workouts although of course they are good too.

Hope your dd2 is having a lovely day Zoo!

ChicCroissant · 13/04/2019 17:43

Quick hello and a very Happy Birthday to your DD zoo!

Have been out to garden centre, and also dropped off a pile of books and a few bags of clothing to the local jumble sale this morning. Decluttering, woo hoo! Just need to make sure we have a dumping bag/box available at all times and drop it off at each jumble sale - they take everything very cheerfully, not like trying to find a chazzer that is accepting donations.

Still some way to go on the decluttering but it does feel so good to get some of it out of the house Grin

Shadycorner · 13/04/2019 19:00

I am really really ready to "get rid" now too Chic! Well done with your de-jumbling!

Ta da:
In the office by 8 am doing Easter parcels.

Then to PO to send.

Then "embellished" a thank you card for someone and packed up their parcel to send on Monday.

Then wrapped all the Easter presents for everyone in the office.

Emptied dw.
Quick flit to baker.
Quick flit to photography shop.
Quick flit to veg shop.
Drove DD to tech shop to buy photographic printing paper for school project.
Sorted more laundry and ×2 loads done and hung up.

Calmed down DD who had upset DH by doing something thoughtless
Searched for something without success.
Brushed the furries.
Took one for walk (DH did the other).
Then - disaster - dyed my hair orange by mistake! Looked horrible I kid you not. Turns out "blond doré" = Cocoa the Clown Shock. Grin Dashed to lovely hairdresser in despair who took pity on me at 5.30pm on a Saturday night and applied some sort of product that's toned it down a bit thankfully! Still don't like it but it's much much better! DH and DD now making spring vegetable risotto together thank heavens I don't have to cook!

Gah! Boudoir a mess again!

To do tomorrow:
three on-line parcel returns
more laundry
bed-changing with DD
tidy home office
long dog walk
BOUDOIR

Have a good evening everyone!

TooStressyTooMessy · 13/04/2019 20:31

I am always ready to get rid SC. It just doesn’t always translate to actually doing it Grin. Glad to hear hair colour saved slightly!

Lisette1940 · 13/04/2019 20:34

After that day I hope you've all had gin!

Went swimming. Feel stretched but lovely. Really need to keep it up.

Bought ds a bike for his birthday.

TooStressyTooMessy · 13/04/2019 20:40

Meant to say amazing list SC!

Great decluttering Chic.

Hello to everyone else Smile.

Flylady site still saying not secure so I won’t link.

Sunday is renew your spirit day. Even if it’s only 2 minutes with a cup of tea, try to take some time for you.

April’s habit is making your bed.

If at a loss for what to do, declutter some hot spots!

The Flylady site is fine for me, I have had those messages before for different sites though so I know what you mean. Always a bit worrying!

Not much flying done tonight, I am trying to clean up when we eat straight away and I'm focusing more on having a place for everything so it can go away! Saturdays I cook breakfast but we have takeaways for lunch and tea so just plates in the dishwasher for us (so an easy cleanup day really, especially with no activities to go to).

Also I've had two cups of coffee so will be awake at 3.00am ...

Bowerbird5 · 13/04/2019 21:38

I also have the guilt SC. Even today when we were going out I still quickly washed sink and shower tray. Cleaned drain bit yuk! Cleaned toilet.
Made bed, yeah me! Washed a few plates.
Yesterday I strippedown the Everhot hot plates and spent ages cleaning them. Cleaned worktops, did washing, some in drier.

Went to some beautiful gardens today. Lots of spring flowers, gorgeous camillas and magnolias. We took lots of photos. Might eventually make some cards from them.

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/04/2019 06:02

Hills I'm up for assassin job, what are you after?I can bore people to death apparently,by asking put X,y,z away ,pretty sure a shovel to back of head and into prepared hole would be fine....

foxessocks · 14/04/2019 08:02

Hi everyone. Happy birthday to your dd zoo hope she enjoyed her day!

I'm having a bad start to the day, sometimes dh is away so much that when he is here it throws everything off kilter a bit and causes arguments ...I'm sure a lot of you can relate! Anyway, I need to get up and ignore everyone I think GrinBrew I'm probably the one being totally unreasonable.

Cagliostro · 14/04/2019 09:36

I’ve been awake four hours (having had maybe four hours sleep in total) thanks to the world’s most uncomfortable sofa bed at mum’s. Not sure what we are doing today. Caglets just want to go into town. They don’t even have any money to spend and I don’t want to waste the day traipsing around buying stuff. Mum suggested (thankfully not in earshot of them) oh I could give them some money... not the point! (Generous though of course). Feeling spectacularly unmotivated because I’d love to go out and do something more interesting, especially given my rant the other day about how we never really do anything, but I am dog tired.

Shadycorner · 14/04/2019 10:03

Oh sorry Hills forgot about assassin request. If you could kindly persuade the victim to come and stand in my boudoir, I could arrange death by clutter.

I've, Cag, Foxes take it steady Flowers

Lovely fragrant start to the day as furry2 had a (thankfully rare) accident in our bedroom. I have been scrubbing and wielding the Dettol bottle. Fortunately we have wooden floors throughout, no carpets! Yuuuuurggghhhhhhhhh.

Great now spring has sprunged isn't it Bower?

Well done re: swimming Lisette

Yes I can relate Foxes!
