Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

TooStressyTooMessy · 31/03/2019 10:12

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

cag just a heads up. Kids that need melatonin can be super sensitive to caffiene and it will stop the melatonin working. If you can keep her off it even when she is having the melatonin, it will give her the best chance.

and yes ds is a bugger for drinking coke, and we have learnt this lesson the hard way with the exhanging of words

Cagliostro · 09/04/2019 17:43

Yup she is rarely allowed any at all! She is super sensitive to it, as am I. Never have stuff like coke in the house really but I generally allow her to have a small glass if we are out for lunch and it’s early enough. Thankfully she was ok last night with the tablet. Interestingly both of us seem less affected by Coke/Pepsi on draught than in bottles. They taste different too Hmm

She’s not even allowed stuff like lemonade during the breaks either as it takes so little to just tip her over into wide awake 🤦‍♀️

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/04/2019 18:09

cag ok am convinced it's watered down on draught as not as fizzy or sweet either to my taste buds(which I preferred before I gave up fizzy drinks).well done DH laundry work!!
I've glad today's a better one
Lord hope you feeling bit better
SChope things ok with you (always fretting other members your house over yourself not that I'm.guilty of that at all )

Poor beans still got horrid cough and fever so looks pathetically sorry for herselfSad
Now 7 hrs later she still can't open a squash bottle write or use it meaningfully.i asked do take her get it checked,he thinks better wait see still problem tom.i cannot leave D's,nor take him so we are stuck.if she has damaged it he's minced meatAngry
My contact dermatitis has not appreciated panic cleaning as dust etc still made contact despite gloves for large chunk of it.i now have split skin that's bleeding

On plus I've done four loads wash and dry three so all is not lost!!
Also opened D's pack 100 fibeliners and sadly numbered them so if fall out(we a clumsy family) he can get them back in order as he likes colours grouped together and with that many choices it's hard and time consuming try get them back to some semblance of order!!

Dinner tonight- pasta tossed cream cheese and frozen veg as hands aren't up for much
Will lob some veg from freezer to tray to roast for me and dd2 later!

Tomorrow dd2 has orthodontist in morning(glad your us going so well chic)

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/04/2019 18:10

Mum's and tots- breastfeeding a a different day😂😂😂😂

Cagliostro · 09/04/2019 18:18

Mums and tits :o story of my life that.

I absolutely prefer draught, Pepsi max in Wetherspoons or the local is the best :o

We’ve had a lazier evening since our tidying. Totally dreading day one of melatonin break. We have also agreed we may try 3 weeks instead of two, in the summer holidays.

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/04/2019 19:04

cagGrinbeen there done that

TooStressyTooMessy · 09/04/2019 20:43

Mums and tits GrinGrinGrin

Glad your DD’s orthodontist appointment went well Chic.

I also think that the draft coke etc always tastes watered down.

I have achieved pretty much zero flying today but I think the fact that I helped out at an activity thing this morning means that is fair enough. I did also make double bolognese sauce so there is a portion for the freezer.

Have had enough now. Going to do a 15 min blitz then call it a night. Work tomorrow.

Big wing flaps to all.

Bit tense here (politically speaking) ahead of summit tomorrow. Eek. It's really down to the wire.

DD has been really ill unfortunately with flu type virus. She was as white as a sheet earlier and only wanted to lie down in a dark room with the light off. Made some light veg soup for her and she felt a bit better so hopefully ok tomorrow.

Not achieving much atm but DH was off work which was nice (even though he is ill too but not in bed) and we walked dogs and had long convos. He's so busy I usually only get to speak to him in 2'minute bursts so that was a nice change. Also had coffee and good natter with friend who I didn't realise was in town.

Did 1.5 hrs work admin + some cooking and food shopping.

Zoo - that's another amazing list! 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅You must be exhausted. Hope you can take it a bit steadier tomorrow. And hope Lil'Zoo wrist ok.

Glad your DD is ok Chic after dental appt

Can't beat a good spag bol Toostressy

Cagliostro · 09/04/2019 23:58

Sorry about the tension sc :(

I’ve not done much at all this evening but at least we had done some decluttering earlier I guess. We seem to get tired so quickly! And the baby is such hard work at the moment nothing much gets done unless she’s asleep. However at least for the next two weeks we don’t need to worry about the Caglets doing home ed stuff so we can try and prioritise the house

I have done some online orders including a bra to try, this has been on my to do list since shortly after the baby was born :o

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/04/2019 05:29

cag can I ask,do caglets find it a challenge having school hols then returning to work?if we give D's days off he's reluctant to restart...(so i enforcing maths and English minimum thru holiday)
SC hope you got some sleep
Lil zoo awake at 5,think rolled on her hand,we didn't get to sleep til near midnight

Once I'm slightly more with it will need judge if she's going a+e with her dad this morning whilst I head to orthodontist with dd2 trailing D's...
Might as well get up and do "stuff" as if dd2 in pain later she wants mummy

Shadycorner · 10/04/2019 06:05

Ta Cag slept surprisingly well in circs. Hope you did too. Sounds like you need it with little Cagletini keeping you on the go!

Good luck juggling everything this morning Zoo hope the dcs ok

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/04/2019 08:09

Ouch hills
I will never be an over achiever, merely a slightly very actually crazy mum desperately trying get on top of things for at least a few minutes!!and my housework style is best described as goes at it like loon when necessary, treads water (if lucky) rest of the timeGrin

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/04/2019 08:23

I need to do all the things today and just. don't. want. to.

Bedding is in washing machine.
Shower has been soaking under chemicals overnight. (was going to finish last night but CBA after pilates)

coffee has been drunk and I want a shower so I must go clean it. I need to leave the house in 30mins for the doom and gloom that is bra and clothes shopping Sad
Only to come home and make guest ready this bomb site...

ChicCroissant · 10/04/2019 08:40

Morning all - must stay off laptop today or only on this thread, it's the school holidays and there are a few threads that are making me Hmm as they appear a bit trolltastic. Will avoid!

DD quite happy to sit in pyjamas all day, may have to enforce dressing and showering/hairwash! Don't mind a couple of days but there's a limit!

Need to do a big shop today, DD is OK in the house for short periods so that may be a good YouTube opportunity for her ...

Catch you later (probably often if I'm staying off the dodgy threads!)

TooStressyTooMessy · 10/04/2019 08:44

Hi all, at work today so will be on later. Hope everyone has a productive day!

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 10/04/2019 08:46

hills is coffee an adequately strong beverage before bra shopping??

More washing out drier/in machine
Bathroom windows cleaned
Sill cleared and wiped
Wipe radiator and bath panel
Clean bath and sink
Help lil zoo get dressed
Big row dd2>

Sort D's maths work and chivvy him into starting that

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/04/2019 09:25

Nope, personally I don;t there IS a beverage strong enough before bra shopping. But it is early and I need to drive so it will have to do....

Shower cleaned
sworn bitterly about people rearranging pantry shelves so nothing goes where it fits anymore
Put things vaguely back where it goes
Put away slow cooker, waffle iron and cheese toastie machine into recreated space in their homes
Do a grab and run hit for laundry in ds' room

only half hour later than wanted ,sigh> but just throwing clothes on after shower and going to lose what tiny grip on sanity I have left!

MogTheSleepyCat · 10/04/2019 09:48

House is in a terrible state, I'm getting over a nasty tummy bug, but I'm off for all of the holidays now. So I plan to try to get MogTowers in shape and do lots of reading.

Chic I agree there seem to be several threads that just seem ... odd... this morning. I try to restrict the threads I look at to the 50 Bookers and this one (even if I don't post much).

Will be back later with a TaDa list.

Cagliostro · 10/04/2019 10:13

Hey mog!

Ugggh bra shopping is the worst. I really need to do it but am putting it off. Being rather generously provided for in the boob department I am somewhat limited as to shops Hmm and it takes a dedicated trip. I would never normally risk online but my fave online shop (yesbebe) has new nursing bras that are soft and I figured I could do with one just for being at home so often, so not such a big deal if it’s not perfectly shapely or whatever. But still need to brave the shops at some point. :(

Zoo yup definitely had that problem with Caglets struggling to start up again after a break, it has got better over time though. I was really expecting them to struggle after a long time off recently but they got happily back into it. That said I’m sure he would’ve got homework over the holidays anyway and we still keep a little (mostly online) work going too.

MogTheSleepyCat · 10/04/2019 10:37

Cag I am also cursed with excessive amounts of boob. Whenever I need a new bra I always get a fitting and buy from whoever did the fitting. M&S were pretty good for me quite recently.

TaDa
Made two beds
Emptied and reloaded dishwasher
Hung up two wash loads
Second wash load in
Washed up baking trays and pans
Emptied bread bin of loads of crusts and washed out (also my anti-procrastination task)
Washed out food scrap bin
Prepped recycling for going out tonight

To Do
where to start?
Collect library book reservations
Trip to park with DH and DS
Ironing, if I can be bothered

lordofthefries · 10/04/2019 11:48

Hi everyone! I brought some storage boxes yesterday, will be storing them in our dining room. Can’t wait to start sorting it all out!

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/04/2019 13:35

M&S were a fecking nightmare. They have extended their normal range up to E cup in a lot of sizes. Great I think. Except my back size is way to big in the standard size. Ok I think, will try the traditional large boob section. But in that section my back size is too small. WTF thinks I and after an hour of trying things on and failing, I go to John Lewis for a new underwire so I can just fix the bra that fits and the only thing wrong is a broken underwire. AngryAngry

Clothes shopping went better. In and out have tried on one thing and got it straight away.

Now to do all the things because our guest have let us know they are running a head of schedule and will be here this afternoon instead of this evening
