Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

Zoo that must explain why DH has watched that Star Trek film 20+ times! Hmm

And thanks but you wouldn't say that if you saw the state of the room in which we did the packing Grin Grin

And bloomin' heck that list is a-maz-ing 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅!
Please take a break now!

Oh good, I thought you would have had to have done something pretty obscure and wierd to it for it not to taste ok in the end Foxes! And you are too good a cook for that! Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/04/2019 18:15

Bless himSC he needs some reassurance of what's happening next in reality if I was stuck with that I'd have a large vein in neck twitching and overwhelming need apply spade to his face

Meatballs(from freezer) in oven.along frozen pitta.lettuce and tomatoes chopped

Dd2 and I having roasted veg(from freezer) with bread n cheese.i know I need start looking after myself and eat well as zoolets but I'm too exhausted to care tonight and I've got get up at silly o'clock to finish kitchen(no visible surfaces) and sort moving dining table out of way....

Lil zoo still has fever.looks dreadful.shes been playing Minecraft with D's last couple hours(they've decided prudent keep out of mum eay/not get roped into do anything)

Just like to add, that dd2 can me a tight madam but today has been star helping move furniture, put thing away, take stuff upstairs (repeatedly) and help bag stuff up and put in binStar

foxessocks · 08/04/2019 18:46

Haha nothing weird sc I basically was trying to slow cook it so it fell off the bone but after cooking it for 5 hours it was still rare!! But we cranked the oven up and it ended up being fine and very nearly falling off the bone and just a bit later than expected! I suspect my mistake was covering it too tightly in foil which, I was annoyed with myself because dh did the exact same thing to the turkey one Christmas and I forgot!

Sorry for that long and boring explanation Grin

Zoo that makes perfect sense tbh, dd gets scared pretty easily watching films! In fact she hated trolls the first time she saw it and wouldn't get past the first 15 minutes, she only came back to it months later when her friend got a new trolls back pack Grin

Dinner went well the dc cleared their plates, dd only has a few small whinges. They are now turning feral again though in time for bed time Hmm

Cag I sometimes feel like you describe it's very easy I think to get into a bit of a rut like that. I'm just getting through the other side now with eating out, the dc are generally well behaved and ds hasn't sat in a high chair for about a year , since sitting on his own chair he seems to enjoy it all more. I always have pens and paper or stickers in my bag or a toy they haven't seen for ages to keep them occupied if need be. But I don't get it out until it's necessary, hold it back as long as possible!

foxessocks · 08/04/2019 18:46

cag which I am sure you probably already do since you have more experience than me anyway but I do understand how hard it can be! Smile

foxessocks · 08/04/2019 18:48

Yay for helpful dc zoo! Maybe a big treat for her to inspire her to help again soon! Grin

Cagliostro · 08/04/2019 18:59

Zoo that’s a genius idea!!! I will definitely suggest that. It’s quite embarrassing how little she has been to the park five minutes from our house 😳

Sadly not much will distract Cagletini if she wants to run off. All three of mine have been bolters. Having said that she will colour etc for a little bit, we would just need to get in there with it before she decided to run 😂

I am feeling worse and worse today TBH, ended up taking my anxiety meds which I hardly do lately. Trying to book accommodation for when we have the Caglets assessments and it’s so much money and faff as there’s not much public transport down there. Really getting me down.

Oh and then the washing machine went nuts, the big block thing at the bottom has snapped 😱 and it was leaking a bit although DH seems to have fixed it for now at least. But I don’t think it’ll last much longer.

lordofthefries · 08/04/2019 20:29

Do you mind if I join, I just found out I’m expecting baby number 2 and I want to get my house in order before they come. We have a tiny little two bed and I find that with all DS’s stuff it’s starting to get really cluttered, so this thread will help a lot

Lisette1940 · 08/04/2019 20:32

Congrats lordofthefries! And welcome. All very relaxed and friendly here.

IVEgottheDECAF · 08/04/2019 21:01

Evening all

I am still rough. My immune system has run away it seems. Had to phone in work sick.

Ta da

About 4/5 loads washing done
Pots on top of except tea things
All fed no one dead

Welcome to new people

cag how old is cagletini now? I am trying to train dc4 to walk places in preparation for arrival of dc5 but he keeps having a strop and lying on the floor when he cant get his own way Shock

lordofthefries when is baby due and how old is your ds! We moved two years ago to a house twice the size of previous place and now it too is massively cluttered so i dont think it makes a difference how big or small your house is as you just accumulate shit to fill it lol

zoo care to lend me your dd2?

Cagliostro · 08/04/2019 21:45

Yup that is cagletini’s favourite mode of strop too! She is nearly 18 months.

Although just now she just put her head on the floor, so she was stropping in downward dog yoga pose 🤔

Decided to delay DD1’s melatonin break by one more day. She forgot and bought herself sweets in town and had a coke with lunch 🤦‍♀️ So sleep will be hard enough as it is, and I’m on my own with them for another hour or so too, so, sod it.

TooStressyTooMessy · 08/04/2019 21:48

Welcome lordofthefries Smile.

Ive, Flowers. Did you manage to get any rest with being off sick?

Cag Flowers, keeping fingers crossed for washing machine.

Hi to lisette and everyone else. Not got nearly as much done as I had hoped tonight but too late for any more achievements now.

Lisette1940 Thank you 😊

IVEgottheDECAF I’m due early December, so still very early days. DS is almost 2. I’m just not very good with storage!

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/04/2019 21:59

lordoftheflies welcome
I've course you can borrow her,but I suspect after a while she would show her strop side and you'd want send her back(she is very good with little ones tho,so you might keep her!!)

Cagliostro · 09/04/2019 01:40

Ug, can’t sleep! Am relegated to the sofa anyway as DS is upset about losing all his mine crafting 🤦‍♀️ So is in with DH.

At least before he went to bed we updated the diary. Except we can’t find the diary, because we have barely used it, so we in fact wrote as many upcoming things as we could think of on the back of a big envelope, with their dates. So we can hopefully find the diary tomorrow and transfer it. Pleased to see though that so far, nothing clashes, which is what I was worrying about with all the dates floating round my head, and I’ve sent an email about one thing too. Remains to be seen if we have forgotten things, mind you... Blush

Must must must try and sleep now.

Welcome lord love the name, enjoyed the book, but yum, fries :o

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/04/2019 05:40

cag how you got some sleep.desite being wrecked I've not had much, hate knowing I have to get up early to do X,y,z and it will keep waking me up so I don't forget!!
Giving up and getting up now...

TooStressyTooMessy · 09/04/2019 08:32

Hi all, hope you slept a bit more Cag. Writing all those dates down seems a good start. Morning zoo and everyone else BrewBrew.

Off out now, back after lunch to hopefully attack the laundry.

lordofthefries · 09/04/2019 10:06

Morning everyone, woke up this morning with really bad nausea. So any cleaning is out the window for me today

Shadycorner · 09/04/2019 10:19

Welcome Lordoftheflies sorry you are feeling rough

Glad you are feeling a bit better I've

Dh at home with fluey virus thing and now DD has woken up with sore throat and a headache. Been supermarket for fruit & veg and and have walked the furries so far. Didn't enjoy walk as although it's quiet and everyone has buggered off for Easter holidays, the air is really stagnant and smells sour (big pollution problem here). Can't wait to get to country. Still working on that ta da list!

Cagliostro · 09/04/2019 12:52

Typically cagletini woke up briefly as soon as I was dozing off around 3, so I didn’t get much sleep as I woke at 7 Hmm but I cooked eggs and bacon and then went to sleep until half 12 :o

TooStressyTooMessy · 09/04/2019 14:06

Hi all, we are back and I must now get on with stuff as need to leave in just under 2 hours to get DD1.

Sorry to hear you feel rough lord, hope you get through the day ok. SC, hope your DD and DH feel better soon.

Glad you managed to catch up on some sleep Cag and that you feel a bit better Ive.

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 09/04/2019 15:50

We did another hour or so of tidying this afternoon. Managed to get Cagletini down for a nap in decent time so left the Caglets with Netflix and sorted through some boxes of crap with DH upstairs. More stuff thrown away and sorted. Still a small amount in the grand scheme of things but hey ho. DH has been going great guns with the laundry all day too.

ChicCroissant · 09/04/2019 15:59

I am still alive and survived doing the under-sink cupboard! Welcome to NobodysDogsbody and LordoftheFlies, and congratulations Lord!

Have made a note of zoo's recipe for choc pancakes, have made pancakes the last couple of days.

DD's brace tightening went well - I was surprised to see that she immediately noticed he'd taken the wires off, and a bit of calpol saw her through the next day or so. It was hard to bite, although if she cut stuff up small enough chewing with the back teeth seemed OK.

It has also been DH's birthday over the last few days so went out for a meal which was nice.

Have not done much yet, DD is still suffering with the after-effects of last week's cold so enjoying a restful couple of days at home.

Spending far too much time on the laptop and not flying though, ruining last week's progress with the laundry! Easier to catch up though if not so far behind!
