No delayed exit for clutter - March Flylady Thread 2019 for fledglings!

ChicCroissant · 28/02/2019 09:40

What would a combo of exit and clutter be, clexit? Exclutter? Perhaps we should just stick with declutter ....

Welcome to the March Flylady thread, we’d love to have you with us as we chat and work our way through our houses in March. Flylady uses the zone method of cleaning so we’ll be focusing on a different area of the house each week – we will post daily links to the Launch Pad on the Flylady website which gives all the details of the current Zone, daily missions and babysteps.

Newbies are always welcome so feel free to join in at any time. Flylady does recommend decluttering your house first, so if you are not ready for the cleaning routines yet it’s fine to focus on the decluttering bit – add the babysteps in if you wish.

What makes men tick? I wish I knew Bower.

Sorry to hear your dh has been less than sympathetic. Flowers. You deserve better.

foxessocks · 02/03/2019 21:03

sc I'm doing a no spend on clothes year too, going well so far. Only thing I'm going to get is running shorts for the summer as I don't have any.

Cagliostro · 02/03/2019 22:22

I am doing the opposite and hoping to actually spend money on clothes for myself this year. I have one pair of jeans that fits well, a few t-shirts and nursing tops, all my underwear has holes in 😳 etc.

Got DD’s ears pierced today finally. And phoned the lady I did some editing for before to sort out some work. So an anti procrastination sort of day I guess.

Bowerbird5 · 02/03/2019 22:33

Yeah to both of us Cags.SC I put The Voice on and he buggered off to bed, result. I did think he might be cleaning the bathroom but he must have been having a shower. I checked the drain and mirror nope he didn’t clean it. I shall leave a note omorrow. He has to get up early to take me and I won’t be home till about 11pm. It is blowing a gale outside. It was stormy last year and the road was flooded so I couldn’t go. Hope we are safe a two hour journey.

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/03/2019 06:43

Good luck at comp bower🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
I've never idea what makes men tick, just that they tick because they are unexploded bombs, ready to go off at any time...I'm sorry he's being such an arse.Flowers

Cag snap!!I can probably get every piece clothing I own into a carrier bag,and some of that are dd1 cast offs!!aiming start buying something.only be Primark stuff, but that's fine by me!

SC agree with bower a maid that drives would be the way forward.and while we are at it,I've could do with one also

Our church is st David's,and as was st David's day Friday bit celebration today.starting with crafts etc in hall I said we would attend for a bit.ds has struggled so much lately we've not attended in a while.doubt will stay long enough for communion but good to see friendly faces and no one bats an eye if he starts to panic, freak out so he doesn't feel self conscious

"D"p ment to be coming today.if he shows his face be rest food shopping, then take zoolets out pm local reservoir for a stroll(weather permitting).way he's been recently I'm kind of hoping he doesn't bother

Right,I have a soothy (lil) zoolet asleep on me,but once I can slide her off I must get up and feed cats and find recipes for final practise pancakes!

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/03/2019 07:27

Aaaaand hes text to say not coming!!
Makes the shopping bit more complicated(couple different shops going home in between as too heavy to carry everything) but at least be peaceful later.no whining his bored as weathers going to be rubbish (will also get soaked shopping, but I'm not make of sugar/won't melt as my mum used to say),demanding food no one else that's expensive and complaining we don't want to watch his choice of film later.dd2 can hole up in bed with her CSI box set and chill after mammoth 6hr homework ment we never had time to hang out and pamper yesterday.i did paint my toenails after a hot shower.theyre "royal raspberry".looked deep maroon but on my toes much redder.i feel a bit femme fataleGrin

IVEgottheDECAF · 03/03/2019 07:36

YES. Where do i sign up for the maid who drives?

Sympathies for the unsympathetic man Bower. If dp asks me one more time "Why are you walking like that?" I might do damage to his own pelvis. I think there is meant to be a storm today and tomorrow? I had message from energy supplier about what to do in a power cut. Stay safe!

Zoo i completely get why you cba with 'dp'. No point him coming to 'help' if he actually makes life harder.

I REALLY need to do some uni work today. Badly.

MogTheSleepyCat · 03/03/2019 08:11

Sorry to hear about all the useless DPs. I find mine will pitch in and do stuff, but needs to be explicitly asked three times at least and then usually only does 80% of the task. Like if asked to deal with the kitchen, he will load dishwasher, but not wash up baking trays or wipe the sides!

lol re butler bells - after seeing it on an episode of Big Bang Theory, DH downloaded an app that sounds a bell when you shake the phone. He did it once to me and I gave him my best Medusa cold stare and he hasn't been dumb enough to do it again....

We are going to a messy church session this afternoon at the other local church we have not been to before. Looking forward to it.

More washing to do today and some lego sorting ....

IVEgottheDECAF · 03/03/2019 08:21

Anyone got any motivation to share

Sanguineclamp · 03/03/2019 08:38

Maybe we should trade in our "d" hs and ps for paid staff! It would probably save money.

IVEgottheDECAF · 03/03/2019 08:58

Genuinely considering that as an option .....

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/03/2019 09:06

Can I sign up to do that SC
FFS I've I think my do has a half brother up north he doesn't know about.they certainly seem to come from same pod...

Sanguineclamp · 03/03/2019 09:13

Sorry that posted itself before I'd finished writing.

Good luck to everyone with what they are doing today! Hope it's not too windy where you are!

I had to have words with dh yesterday who complained loudly in front of his sister after I'd asked him to carry two heavy paniers of laundered clothes up from basement to bedroom (I'm not allowed to lift for eight wks post op and even then I have to be careful). He said "I've done everything you asked me to do" but said it in a really horrible way ifyswim. NB it was the only thing I'd asked him to do. I told him straight that I wouldn't be spoken to like that and made him apologise which he did. To be fair to him he's horribly jet-lagged and was very helpful for rest of day but ye gads... I'm reluctant to ask again now. Confused

Good luck with studying I've!

Messy church sounds interesting Mog! I hear you about the half done chores. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Safe travelling Bower and hope bathroom clean on your return!

Foxes we can no-spend buddies throughout 2019! Grin

Cag Good job re: anti-procrastination yesterday!

Zoo sorry you are left to do food shop on foot in the rain again Angry (Sorry but gives me the rage on your behalf.)
Enjoy the craft fair and hope you can have a peaceful no- whinge Sunday afternoon!

Hope everyone heading towards being lurgy free in your household now Chic!

Wing flaps to Hills Honu Lisette and anyone else I've inadvertently left out (still have post op brain fog!)

TooStressyTooMessy · 03/03/2019 10:48

Hi everyone, thanks for the new thread Chic. Love the new name!

I’ll catch up properly later.

ChicCroissant · 03/03/2019 11:17

March seems to have had a strange effect on the menfolk of this thread. We can only hope it wears off quickly.

Plans for today - more laundry, ironing, badgering about homework and instrument practice. Make lists for next week. DD still has streaming nose but assures me she feels better than yesterday Hmm At least she can relax at home while ill and not struggle through school.

I will check in during the day, and prod with pointy stick where necessary ----->

foxessocks · 03/03/2019 14:49

Sounds good sc. Sorry about your dh being so unkind Angry that goes for you too bower I've and zoo Sad

Our weekend hasn't quite gone to plan. Ds seemed better so we travelled for 3 hours + to stay with my brother and family as nephew's birthday. Unfortunately dd was sick throughout last night (we really thought she'd avoided it!) so we've had to come home early and missed the actual birthday party! And we got home and I picked ds up for a cuddle and he promptly puked in my hair!!

foxessocks · 03/03/2019 14:50

Btw ds was sick on Tuesday and not since otherwise we obviously would not have gone at all! He just seemed tired nothing more. Think this is another illness!

HillsBesideTheSea · 03/03/2019 15:20

Didn't catch the bit specifically by gardener's question time on R4 covered how to keep slugs out of the kitchen if you are interested in hunting it down for a listen

Woefully out of touch with the thread. Not really here.

Sanguineclamp · 03/03/2019 15:59

Have just waved off (hour ahead here) adorable twin baby brunchers and their parents! Only a quick visit to fit in with sleep, eat, play cycle (I remember it well!) but lovely nonetheless! And they kindly bought me a gorgeous bunch of flowers and delicious chocs! Babies are at that lovely squishable smiley piston leg stage Grin Really lovely to spend time with them! I bloomin' 💜 babies! Especially twins! Grin. And I got to hold them both while their parents ate too!

We provided food busy parents could eat with one hand: chipolatas with honey, hoisin sauce and sesame seeds in tiny rolls, toasted ficelle (thin baguette) spread loaded with pesto, mozarella, tomato slices and basil leaves, palma ham rolls filled with goats cheese, thinly sliced gherkins and roquette, a platter of cucumber, carrot and celery batons with a hummous dip, an enormous 70s style fruit platter with rows of pineapple, mango, and orange slices, with raspberries and blueberries in between (skillfully put together by my sil), a large plate of Danish pastries and croissants, and some home made trusty Nigella Christmas muffins (with sultanas instead of cranberries and lemon and orange zest and juice instead of satsumas so they're less Christmassy ifyswim). All washed down with bucks fizz, coffee and sparkling water.

Have cleared table but left washing up stacked by side of sink to sort later. Off for an afternoon snooze now as that's me nearly done for the day!

Oh yes X 2 loads of washing on to hang up later!

Sanguineclamp · 03/03/2019 16:05

Btw, thank you Hills will catch up with slug info - much needed for wreck2.

And sorry to hear you are undergoing another puke fest Foxes that's very bad luck indeed, especially when you've travelled all that way!

Chic btw, meant to say down-thread when everyone was talking about secondary school choices (don't answer if you don't want to!) but I remember it was a stressful time for you last year, and you weren't too happy with your DD's allocation, so was just wondering a year on, how she was getting on, and if she is happy? Certainly hope so anyway! Flowers

Waves to Toostressy and everyone else!

foxessocks · 03/03/2019 17:34

I feel all dizzy and shakey but I hope it's because I haven't eaten much and have been in the car a lot the last few days. When everyone around you is getting sick you can't help feeling you're next! I also randomly decided to declutter and sort the kids crafty cupboard...which I'm also hoping is not a random burst of energy before I collapse!

Dd is nibbling toast and has been lying on the sofa all afternoon Sad ds seems fine now though, eating normally and seems fairly energetic.

No school for dd tomorrow but we'll have to wait and see about ds nursery.

Hope everybody okay and not feeling Sunday evening blues too much. Sc the babies sounds lovely, I like babies when I can hand them back if they cry Wink

foxessocks · 03/03/2019 17:36

I'm actually not sure ds was properly sick earlier, i think he just coughed and regurgitated a biscuit into my hair Envy so that was nice of him. But at least that means he is better as we previously thought... hopefully!

Sanguineclamp · 03/03/2019 17:48

Oh no, sincerely hope you are not going down with something too Foxes and that you can rest up a bit. Star for decluttering during a very testing w/e.

Having spent most of the morning food prepping I was hoping no one would want to eat later but no such luck. Dh and DD have both declared themselves hungry Shock. Groan... . Off to make some veg soup.

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/03/2019 17:59

Make extras SC and freeze to ease your workload!!I'd LOVE that spread btw.another baby lover here

Sanguineclamp · 03/03/2019 18:18

Thanks Zoo I was pleased with spread, which started out simple, but grew a bit with three of us prepping. That's a good idea about soup; making leek, potato and chervil and there's plenty so will freeze some!

Hope you are not succumbing to virus either! No idea about skin cleansing but dare I suggest very dilute apple cider vinegar again to dilute any soap residue? That might be totally the wrong thing though! Not sure! I swear by it for most minor ailments!! Or wash with loads of water and use a moisturizer suitable for babies (ie very pure)??

Looking forward to CTM here too! Grin
