No delayed exit for clutter - March Flylady Thread 2019 for fledglings!

What would a combo of exit and clutter be, clexit? Exclutter? Perhaps we should just stick with declutter ....

Welcome to the March Flylady thread, we’d love to have you with us as we chat and work our way through our houses in March. Flylady uses the zone method of cleaning so we’ll be focusing on a different area of the house each week – we will post daily links to the Launch Pad on the Flylady website which gives all the details of the current Zone, daily missions and babysteps.

Newbies are always welcome so feel free to join in at any time. Flylady does recommend decluttering your house first, so if you are not ready for the cleaning routines yet it’s fine to focus on the decluttering bit – add the babysteps in if you wish.

Ha Chic! I can see pancakes are definitely going to feature somewhere in your busy agenda tonight! Grin

Too late for UK school this year because deadline for application = previous October no exceptions. Only 40-50 places a year. High demand. And application for sixth form entails exam, interview, personal statement and report. Oh well, as Zoo said, no harm in asking!

Had to laugh this afternoon. Dd went out to formal citizenship admin submission interview thing wearing all my clothes! Grin Couldn't believe it when I saw her! She's never indicated the slightest bit of interest in them before (in fact she would probably die rather than wear them) but wanted to look "adult" apparently! Had to cackle as she looked so different to normal and they suited her better than me!

Cagliostro · 05/03/2019 14:41

Aah that’s such a shame sc :(

I was a grown up and bought myself some clothes! Found a pair of jeans (well jeggings) that fit nicely so I got them, and a very cheap basic top. Got the top in three colours and will go back for the other jeans colours too. I like predictability 😳

Sanguineclamp · 05/03/2019 14:59

Thanks Cag but never mind. It was only ever a fall back option. She may survive here but it's much harder when you don't listen to adults around you speaking Fr at home every night. Your vocab doesn't evolve in the same way. And there are other schools... . It just ranks up the pressure a bit more I guess!

Whey hey to new clothes Cag! Good on you! Same here re: predictability! I wear a "uniform" every day from rota of same top x 4 and same trews x 2!

Cagliostro · 05/03/2019 15:06

:o I am so very very picky about clothes due to sensory issues. So safety is good! I figured I’d give it a day or two and see if they still fit well after washing and then I’ll get the other colours!

Sanguineclamp · 05/03/2019 15:09

Sounds good Cag you never know how things are going to react in the wash nowadays.

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/03/2019 16:13

I am same cag if it's comfy and washes well I tend multi buy in my "uniform" colours(neutrals, navy, black)
I'm currently wearing a shirt dd1 gave me.i feel very self conscious in it but due to clothes shortage a case necessity.its red with little white flowers and I feel like I stand out like a sore thumb, despite couple people commenting positively with surprise I don't usually wear colour but suits you etc....Blush

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/03/2019 16:30

Lil zoo just ram in last bag sweeties, before lent starts
Dd2 and I are adding acts of kindness/compliments to others(1a day minimum)
DS has chosen to read passages of lent from the Bible daily(he finds comfort in religion esp at the moment)
I've seen somewhere bag up an item a day and at end 40days giving to charity, useful idea on a decluttering thread maybe?

Sanguineclamp · 05/03/2019 17:50

Still feel tired/rough. All cavalry gone.
Dh proving difficult to "catch" to ask him to do things, never mind actually doing him, so I have sent him a list by e-mail!.Smile Tbh when working he doesn't have a lot of time to do much beyond dog-walking/evening meal although he's not meant to be working this week. Hard to watch everything to go to pot! Aarggh!

Sanguineclamp · 05/03/2019 17:52

Really like the 40 decluttering items for Lent Zoo!

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/03/2019 18:20

Sanguineclamp · 05/03/2019 18:55

Thanks Zoo agreed dh cooking tonight as I am feeling below par - and of course he hasn't planned anything - so he is taking DD to the golden arches fhs! I don't mind once in a while but not as a default move!

On the positive front: it is Sewing Bee tonight! Yay!

HillsBesideTheSea · 05/03/2019 20:04

SC just so you know that for funding for uni you need to check that the living in the uk for 2 years thing doesn't still also apply. Irrc having an english passport alone was not enough when I went to Uni for the PGCE. You need to look at the loans company rules. Sorry to be the bringer of even more bad news. But whilst you are considering all possibilities.

HillsBesideTheSea · 05/03/2019 20:04

That is assuming you want the UK resident fee rates rather than the over sea student rates at english uni

ChicCroissant · 05/03/2019 20:40

Pancakes have been eaten, I went for raspberries with spray cream on mine. I can put some in the naughty corner with toppings (maple syrup, golden syrup, white sugar, lemon, choc, sprinkles, cream and raspberries) but watch out for the out-of-date nutella. DD has also added craisins to hers along with the raspberries for a red berry pancake. Sounds more healthy than it is, really!

Back in a bit!

Sanguineclamp · 05/03/2019 21:11

Aye thanks Hills if DD goes to Uni in the UK, we are fairly certain we would have to pay overseas student rates unfortunately but need to investigate further!

Sanguineclamp · 05/03/2019 21:18

Ooh thank you Chic - virtual pancakes are the closest we are going to get tonight - much appreciated!

ChicCroissant · 05/03/2019 23:50

Mmm, just munched the last pancake at home

Stilllivinginazoo · 06/03/2019 07:47

For you or DC I've?

IVEgottheDECAF · 06/03/2019 08:19

For my arse Sad

Cagliostro · 06/03/2019 08:32

Oh no ive

Out of date Nutella? I’m sorry I don’t understand. It would never get the chance to go out of date here. Demolished in days.

Not so good a night again here 🙄 but at least I put her back in bed after feeds. I ordered a new sleeping bag that should help keep her warmer and maybe sleep longer.

Zero motivation this morning!

ChicCroissant · 06/03/2019 09:20

Hugs to IVE

Quick hello as I'm already late dashing off this morning, have done a bit of inefficient shopping and eaten a croissant with jam. It's all about the food for me this week Grin

Back around lunchtime!

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 06/03/2019 10:48

Mmmm. Food. I like food.

Can’t concentrate at all today. Trying to watch an anime episode and just can’t focus.

DD1 is a bit upset too, friendship stuff and her little friend who is 9 being a stirring little madam 🙄🙄🙄 she has now lost her phone until the end of the week because she used it after “curfew” last night so was told she was banned today, then she used it secretly this morning! Just trying to work out if she will need it at a sleepover on Thursday, it’s one of her best friends but she’s not been to sleep there before... hmm. Aaargh having a preteen is hard work especially when technology is involved! Let alone ASD and the resulting lack of social understanding. FFS.

Anyway I’m off to meet DH for a drink. Can’t afford lunch 😂

Sanguineclamp · 06/03/2019 12:15

I am already ravenous and it's day one of Lenten diet. Haven't planned healthy menus or shopped either so winging it today.

I feel a lot better than I did yesterday thankfully. Unfortunately DD is ill (nausea, fatigue, ear pain, stomach ache) so maybe it's a bug going around. I joked with her that it could be Nutella withdrawal as she has given it up because of palm oil content but it's a subject under discussion here as at least manufacturers have sustainability/code of ethics in place apparently. Joking apart though, not nice for her to be ill in the holidays.

DH has disappeared (presumably at work) enough said as trying to give up moaning on here for Lent too! Should last at least half a day.

Hope you feel better soon I've

Cag I hear you! Phone use and teens/pre-teens = absolute quagmire! I guess I would always let dd have a phone for sleepovers though for "emergency" reasons (we have a code word if she needs medi-vaccing out for any reason) and in similar circs would add an extra "ban" day once she got back or more usually forget to do so Confused.

Fwiw I found the pre-teen period involved putting time boundaries in place, developing good habits, a lot of checking up on what they were looking at, who they were talking to, having CEOPS/NSPCC safety guidelines in place for each app (good advice on Mumsnet too) and even that wasn't foolproof! Now with DD at 15 yrs it's more about keeping communication going and challenging/questioning/discussing any stuff she repeats from You Tube or some such. DH does ask to look at her phone occasionally though and either doesn't or does follow through depending on her reaction! So far she's been pretty trustworthy and sensible (unlike in pre-tern years) thank heavens.

Stilllivinginazoo · 06/03/2019 12:36

Dd2 adamant her phones private property and no nosing on it.she is however not adverse me peer over her shoulder when on..usually on group class chat checking homework deadlines or fan chats of couple TV shows -sharing sneak peeks/spoilers/reactions to latest storylines and follows few of the actors on Instagram/twitter

Tada
Manage get dd2 out to school as science test but she is suffering with her brace tightening and tighter elastics.badly...i may get call to collect,or she may power on then come in and cry eyes out.usually day 2 bad,day 3 the worst so could be battening down hatches tomorrow!!

Tada
Swept living room floor
Empty bins
Littertray
Hoover stairs,hall,landing and tidy

Church for my first ash Wednesday service with D's.he had a cross on forehead but hot too anxious for communion or a blessing but he enjoyed it,as did i.he asked one ladies what we do with our ashes faces and she said wipe it off if it bothers you or be confident and show you are a christian.hes having a go at confident christisn- I suspect rain may wash it off at school pick up as forecasts dreadful!!

Now home waiting for mash(couple mins to wait) and corned beef as it's cold and gloomy we needed comfort food!

To do

Washing mountain
Clean dining table
Find kitchen surfaces/clean up
Poss wash some floors
Bit HE for D's
