Welcome to the February Flylady thread, we’d love to have you with us as we chat and work our way through our houses in February. Flylady uses the zone method of cleaning so we’ll be focusing on a different area of the house each week – we will post daily links to the Launch Pad on the Flylady website which gives all the details of the current Zone, daily missions and babysteps.

Newbies are always welcome so feel free to join in at any time. Flylady does recommend decluttering your house first, so if you are not ready for the cleaning routines yet it’s fine to focus on the decluttering bit – add the babysteps in if you wish.

Morning, order enforcers. Are we all working at top speed already? Me neither, the half-term dawdling has plumbed new depths Grin

Will get dressed and start breakfast, DD seems to be improving. Today - laundry, hassling DD about homework/instrument practice/, admin and bill paying, cleaning. May even venture into DD's room to do a bit of decluttering there with her!

I need to go through my clothes as well - so much that doesn't fit me. The capsule wardrobe concept would suit me well (a few really nice outfits) which is probably all I'd be left with if I stopped saving stuff that would fit me if I just lost a teeny bit of weight ...

Morning, lazy so far here (day off work), but I am planning home bleugh plus lots of laundry later. Also need to put in an hour or so at the allotment. First I need a coffee.

Cagliostro · 20/02/2019 09:19

I should really be doing stuff while baby is still asleep. But I am not.

The others already left, we are all aloooone

Bowerbird5 · 20/02/2019 09:42

I hear you Sass.

Another idle person here. Fed cat, fed hen and put her back in. Made tea, noticed hen on window sill. Took tea and went back to bed.

Looking at pile of RCs that I need to sort today. Still on mum’s net.

Need 4 pointy sticks please zoo.—————————>🤼‍♀️

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/02/2019 09:44

Hi!! I'm ashamed to say how much nicer our home smells now that a vacuum 2-4 times a week rather than once every 3 weeks or so...does anyone have advice for what to put on Georgian (Edinburgh tenement) door hinges when they squeak? We used WD40 and it's run down and stained our doors 😥 TIA

tibni · 20/02/2019 09:51

Morning all - day 3 of half term and I'm off work Smile, ds has just gone off to zoo with his disability group and I'm out shopping with a friend soon.
Not brill at posting but I have made small steps - biggest achievement is my bedroom is properly tidy!!!!! (It's always toward end of list that never gets done)
Started painting ds room yesterday and got first coat on, he's not impressed about his treasures being boxed up and has started unpacking them in dd room (she's at uni but back Friday so better finish his room before then! Grin)
Thank you all for your encouragement when I was struggling with social care etc at start of year, I hope I am getting to a place where I will able to be a help for others

Bowerbird5 · 20/02/2019 10:35

Lovely to hear from you tibni.

Sorry no advice 147. I think DH used WD40 on ours.

Still not motivated. Going to a friends later so going to do an hour in bedroom. Decided to make bed and throw everything on there then sort. I have three pairs of shoes that need putting away for a start!

No energy.

Bowerbird5 · 20/02/2019 10:36

🥞mm zoo I want some now.

GAH! Your dd not your dad Sass (obviously!).

Sanguineclamp · 20/02/2019 11:18

And for working whilst doing all of that tibni!

Sanguineclamp · 20/02/2019 11:20

Sorry user147etc don't know anything about hinges. Maybe you could summon up Piglet John under the home improvement topic?

Bowerbird5 · 20/02/2019 12:04

Getting my butt into gear.

Put some things in dresser.
Put shoes away.
Put a wash on.

Power of 3!

Not going to friends now we are going to do it tomorrow she is in a pickle too.

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/02/2019 12:11

Really fucking struggling to move today

Gp in the morning

My kids are having a well exciting half term Angry

Bowerbird5 · 20/02/2019 12:13

🙋🏼‍♀️To Sanguine

Yes, I remember when I hurt my ankle. Quite liked directing!
Hope you on the mend soon but not too quickly😉 don’t want to undo any stitches. Milk it 🥛! It might be your only chance.

🐓 Houdini is fine thanks can fly / escape in and out now. Grew all her feathers back ( must have been a late moult) and is currently laying an egg a day.
Really need to get her a mate not a cockerel though.

Bowerbird5 · 20/02/2019 12:23

Sorry to hear that I’ve. Don’t worry about kids sometimes they just like to be at home. Like us they are often rushing around doing stuff and it is good for them just to stop and get off the Merrygoround sometimes.

Snuggle down and watch a film with them. Order a pizza if you can( we can’t get any takeaways) and chill. Get some old baby photos out, mine loved laughing at them especially the haircuts ( lack of in 70’s &80’s) and where eldest had wee’d himself. Yes, cruel parents we took a photo of him with a plastic gun ( I didn’t buy it GP) and wet pj’s. His brother 30 couldn’t contain himself when he found the photo!

And they have Christmas presents to play with and keep them amused.

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/02/2019 13:09

Ty for the kind words bower I am just very aware i am a miserable cow right now

foxessocks · 20/02/2019 13:15

I've been in soft play hell. I have a headache and we left ds favourite two toys there which he can't sleep without Sad really kicking myself now. I called them and one might have been handed in but no sign of the other one. So now I have to go back there before we go to dds friends house this afternoon!! Argh!

I've been offered two jobs in the last week so that's making my head spin a bit too. 🤔

Ive Flowers

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/02/2019 13:17

foxes Flowers i hope you find the toys but soft play during half term? Are you on glue?

foxessocks · 20/02/2019 13:36

Insane isn't it?! In my defence it was a friend's idea to celebrate her son's birthday! So I couldn't really say no! It was pretty awful. I witnessed a child of about 12 literally shove my 2 year old ds out the way to get past him!! I had some words , I'm not a confrontational person until my dc are involved Grin

SassitudeandSparkle · 20/02/2019 14:41

Hello fledglings, had a bowl of soup for lunch and ready to face the late afternoon here.

Meet allotment sounds interesting if cold this time of year it is lovely to pick your own veg later in the year. We grow a bit even in our small garden. Cag hope you are enjoying the peace and quiet in the house! Bower you are lucky that your hen stays so close to home during her escapades, zoo only you would think 8.00am is a sleep in Grin and I love pancakes for breakfast, welcome user not sure what to recommend other than WD40, sorry to hear that it's stained the doors. Don't worry about posting tibni, hope you get the room finished by the weekend (no pressure!), SC take it easy there, I have been thinking of you - hope the recovery is going well Flowers, IVE we haven't moved yet and we are liking it actually! I bet the children are just playing and relaxing! foxes I hope both toys turn up eventually, Star for soft play at half term!

SCtake it steady lovely.grear to hear from you!!
Foxes I agree with I've that you must be on glue to consider the hell that is soft play under any circs during school hols.hope at least one of fave toys is reunited with D's.for future reference GET A SPARE of absolute need to sleep teddy etc...

We went off to a little nature reserve made out of an old gravel pit this morning for a stroll.let zoolets take devices and lots photos taken.it was very relaxed.onky a small walk (by our standards) of around 2-3 miles.its popular with bird watchers and has hides and one area had feeders plus lots pics to identify what birds were feeding.and we saw a puddle which had heron prints in it!!!

Ashamed to say I slinked back to bed for a pm nap,I may regret that when I'm awake at 4am but meh

Dinner tonight meatballs, pasta and broccoli.dd2 having veggie sausages with her's

Nowt done but a load of washing.despite my extensive efforts the other day it's already returning to a bloody sty status, proving zoolets are messy little buggers eventually more than I am--
