Flying Resolutions for the Fledglings

Ok. 1st of January.

It's a long running thread, but we like new people. Just be aware if we seem cliquey it is simply because some of us have known each other for many mumble mumble years.

Respect. We won't tell you what you are doing wrong if you don't tell us. hint if you tell us we are doing it wrong we will tell you you are wrong

Babysteps. If you are new start here. If you dropped off the fly wagon, start here. Basically start here.

Missions. Do these, if you start with the babysteps you will end up doing these during the course of the month.

Decluttering - you can't clean clutter. But experience has shown that fly lady is good for routines but there are other methods that work better for decluttering. Feel free to mix and match.

Emails - feel free sign up to them. Most of us don't because there can be a lot, ergo whilst you are welcome to sign up for them; we don't generally recommend it. especially as one of the babysteps is to delete them anyway

Linkies. We will be linking to the launch pad from there you can get to babysteps, missions, flight plans etc etc. Be aware that some don't update until the date that they are on (eg looking at the links before midnight on Monday will not show the information for Tuesday iyswim)

Did you just scroll back through the thread bower Grin

MsForestier · 02/01/2019 09:37

I don't recognise you either w0man Grin

MsForestier · 02/01/2019 09:40

Right after some detective work I've sussed you out. All this on no coffee so I'm off to search for some!

HillsBesideTheSea · 02/01/2019 10:53

Coffee is good. FLy lady is not on pop, I just didn't link to the babysteps, I linked to the reminders which is meant for those that know what they are doing and are up and running in the system..

Actually coffee is very good. To do: all the things, motivation: none, energy:none. Wonder what is in the kitchen for a hearty motivational breakfast....

HillsBesideTheSea · 02/01/2019 11:40

Is it as simple as needing the battery put on to long charge like when you first get some technology?

Bowerbird5 · 02/01/2019 11:51

Hills She says it is the kitchen zone but then goes to the entrance hall, dining room. Top of page he, he. I noticed because kitchen yeah! Entrance hall boo as I have some bags of school stuff lurking there.

MsForestier Glad it isn’t just me. A dejevu moment to that was SC.

Bowerbird5 · 02/01/2019 11:55

Can’t get motivated today. Put wash on and cleaned out one drawer there were quite a lot of bras and knickers that don’t fit. I buy knickers sometimes that won’t stay up. They really annoy me and then I keep them in the drawer. Does anyone else have this problem. Some are M&S lacy, pretty ones. Sloggies are the ones I normally wear for school. You put them on and they stay put! Have about six pairs of knickers to put out as ride down. Only wore once or twice so annoying.

HillsBesideTheSea · 02/01/2019 12:03

bower Blush yeah clearly need to properly look at the links next time. I haven't done so properly for years. I can tell you today's babystep is shoes... and tomorrow's is do what you have been doing.

Hills yes it was. To begin with it wouldn't turn on after a long charge but after holding the power button for a while it has come back to life. Im really pleased because I have deleted the facebook app off of my phone in the hope that I will waste less time online and spend more time reading.

EustaciaVye · 02/01/2019 12:58

I have taken the Xmas decorations down so the place looks much tidier.
Still feeling really poorly so now knackered.
Kids are having their own sort out and older one has just presented me with a bag of teddies for the charity shop Halo

GroovieGazelloo · 02/01/2019 13:04

Hello ,
I'm new and I'd like some support. I'm finding it difficult to get on top of housework that has been building up for ages due to me and my husband's lack of time and work commitments.

I'm feeling overwhelmed with everything that there is to do and this morning I've set myself 15 minute stints to do jobs. And I've discovered that things take longer to do than I expected. The good side of that is that I'm not talking meanly to myself as Iook at what's left to do. 😌

SassitudeandSparkle · 02/01/2019 13:32

I have been out for a lovely coffee, took DD out for a treat as well (yummy biscuit which we shared). Done slight amount of washing up (glassware) after waking up late.

Have appointment tomorrow morning so will need to get up and start morning routine properly.

Just over a week until DD's brace is fitted. She's had extractions but also has a fang-type tooth (or two) so I'm expecting the worst. I think she's having both the top and bottom fitted at the same time. Dreading the first tightening too Sad I hope it's not as bad as I think. Will have soft food ready. I am more worried about her not wanting to go to school if it's bad, she's had a few days off already Sad

SassitudeandSparkle · 02/01/2019 13:33

Welcome Groovie

Bowerbird5 · 02/01/2019 13:39

Welcome Groovie.
We’re very friendly on here.
We know that feeling of being overwhelmed and not knowing where to start. That is why we like Flylady as it is a matter of slowly chipping away at the clutter and zone cleaning.

Hills didn’t mean it as a critism as I found it funny and means she is human like the rest of us.
-some days I might not even bother to look-😚
I just spotted three tiny marks on my sink cupboard and DD just made comment I can’t remember what she called me but it something to do with spotting tiny details. It was about a millimetre long.

So I have cleaned out two more drawers in my bedroom. Just small ones. Underwear, tights, socks etc.

GroovieGazelloo · 02/01/2019 13:42

Thankyou for your welcome. Smile

foxessocks · 02/01/2019 13:52

bower I was a bit puzzled by the zones too but just picked the one I liked more Grin

Zoo don't worry talk away about braces I'm not worried really, I've had them before so I know the score! I'm just excited to get nice straight teeth!

Sass sounds like me and your dd will get braces same sort of time so I'll try not to moan on here as well!

Ta da
Wiped bathroom
Wiped kitchen
Emptied dishwasher
Had haircuts
Bought milk
Hoovered living room
Decluttered toy box in living room
Washing on
Planned dinner
Lunch made
Ds down for nap
Emailed about dd party
Emailed shop re missing parcel (they didn't pick up the phone as expected!)
Rang vet and booked cat injections

SassitudeandSparkle · 02/01/2019 13:57

We need a separate braces support thread!

MeetOnTheledge · 02/01/2019 14:01

Yes to braces support, both my DCs are getting them this year. DD has already got twin blocks and will be moving to fixed, DS is waiting for a removable one before fixed ones.

W0MANlikeME · 02/01/2019 14:01

I had braces as a teen and dont remember it hurting!

HillsBesideTheSea · 02/01/2019 14:05

Bower don't worry I didn't take it as critism, just a reminder to actually read the link if some one comments about it before responding Blush

Groovie the others are friendly I am the resident grump. Just ignore me. Especially when we get to spring cleaning time/pre christmas clean. My lists might look scary but sometimes it is worth a closer look

ta da
fuck all - important fuck all though and one that flylady would approve of - I have been relaxing and renewing my spirit
work on calendar updating and organisation lists

Right, finally feeling human enough to crawl out of bed, shower and get on with stuff that has to be done...

GroovieGazelloo · 02/01/2019 14:06

Done all holiday washing and drying.
Tidied the contents of a few more bags .
Pleased with myself.

EustaciaVye · 02/01/2019 14:19

Welcome groovie

Sass - we are a few years into braces. It's worth it, and dd sees it. Even when it was a bit sore at times.

I'm so tried I can't move so I am supervising...

SassitudeandSparkle · 02/01/2019 14:21

That's nice to hear, W0MAN I hope it's the same here. DD can be quite good at pushing through pain, bless her, so I'm saying it may be a little painful but worth it in the long run.

Like most thing, really Grin

SassitudeandSparkle · 02/01/2019 14:22

Ooh, another positive from Eustacia as well! My DD has spoken to cousins who have had braces and they have been really good about it as well. Perhaps I am dreading it more than she is I declined braces myself tbh
