Flying Resolutions for the Fledglings

Ok. 1st of January.

It's a long running thread, but we like new people. Just be aware if we seem cliquey it is simply because some of us have known each other for many mumble mumble years.

Respect. We won't tell you what you are doing wrong if you don't tell us. hint if you tell us we are doing it wrong we will tell you you are wrong

Babysteps. If you are new start here. If you dropped off the fly wagon, start here. Basically start here.

Missions. Do these, if you start with the babysteps you will end up doing these during the course of the month.

Decluttering - you can't clean clutter. But experience has shown that fly lady is good for routines but there are other methods that work better for decluttering. Feel free to mix and match.

Emails - feel free sign up to them. Most of us don't because there can be a lot, ergo whilst you are welcome to sign up for them; we don't generally recommend it. especially as one of the babysteps is to delete them anyway

Linkies. We will be linking to the launch pad from there you can get to babysteps, missions, flight plans etc etc. Be aware that some don't update until the date that they are on (eg looking at the links before midnight on Monday will not show the information for Tuesday iyswim)

Morning all

Welcome new people

Sc Flowers

I need to hoover my stairs today, i keep walking up them thinking this but then dont do it

Last night sorted through ds3s toys, took out any babyish ones to put aside for baby, binned any crap, took any of dds stuff back up stairs. Toy box downstairs is now half empty! Cant believe had so much in it he doesnt use, it had just become a dumping ground

WOMAN that's exactly what I need to do with dc2s box. Hubby has hoarding tendencies so half the time it gets put back in...but I always take out more knowing some will go back and the rest will go!

Hello All,
Thanks again for your welcoming words. It means a lot to me. Also, I'm enjoying reading your posts.
About braces, my son begged me for them ! I couldn't believe my ears - especially as I thought his teeth were pretty ok and those that were a bit wiggly would straighten out as he grew. But he was having none of it. So I gave in. I was bothered about people teasing him at school. But it seemed that it's not like that now. In fact, it was as if he'd joined a little club. Suddenly everyone around him seemed to have braces and loads of them had fancy coloured elastic bands on. I was pleased that my son wanted discrete colours . Smile

SC I imagined you sitting on your log having a tearful moment. Poor you. And mean relative, showing so little appreciation to you. Hope you're feeling better now and that the other guests have been enjoyable to have. It certainly sounds as if you've been really busy.

Here, I am going to do housework for an hour and a half again. I really can't stand the thought of it. Yesterday I did it in 15 minute stints and had 5 minute breaks. I am going to do that again and see how much I can get though.

Putting all the clean clothes away will probably take up a lot of that time. And I can't see myself refolding every item in MK style. I think I'd have to stop all my other projects if I were to spend all that time on my t-shirts. Smile

I'm looking forward to checking back in soon. Thanks for being there. ThanksSmile

Groovie i hope its like that for my ds1 when the time comes for him to get his braces, he currently doesn't want them but dentist has said he needs them and is severe enough to have done on NHS

Beep you should do it today! It felt great!

Realised yesterday i have a few bags of clothes upstairs i was going to (eventually) take for charity, in them is most of ds3s baby stuff probably from 6m+. So today i want to look through those and keep anything i would use again to one side for the baby incase it is a boy. I would love a girl but a boy would be more cost affective ...

Groovie that's reassuring about your DS and braces. I agree about the club thing, my DCs are surrounded by kids wearing braces, it's very much the normal thing now. One of mine needs them medically and qualifies on the NHS, the other doesn't but they are pretty wonky so we're going private, he was a bit ambivalent but as I pointed out, have them done now and we pay, leave it till he's an adult and he pays plus it might take longer he has been convinced.

Zoo hope DD is over the worst with hers now.

Morning, may I tag along (but might need a space in the naughty corner reserved)
Flylady worked for me years ago as a sahm and I have in small ways continued some routines but trying to keep on top of everything is a struggle so if the house is clean we tend to be eating rubbish or neglecting the allotment.
I currently work full time out of home and juggle this with caring for my almost adult ds who has severe level disability which means health and social care professional visits which is a fab motivator to tidy! I also have a dd who is at uni but works locally so is often about with her washing Smile
Time and energy will be an issue but I know if I can get back into routine it will help.
Sorry for long post but I'm thinking if I introduce myself it might make me more accountable!

Hi Tibni - were you on these threads a long time ago? Your name seems familiar (I have had several names over the years but have been around for yonks). I too have a somewhat neglected allotment.

Welcome to all other joiners/returners too, it's nice to have new posters on board. Right, must put phone down and do stuff.

SC I recall from long ago threads that your houseguests have form for this kind of thing. IMHO, if someone is kind enough to invite you into their home, feed you and entertain you, you keep your sniffy opinions to yourself. Hight of rudeness.

My WM has definitely died :( checked the fuse and the power socket. Nada.

@MeetOnTheledge flylady was my first introduction to Mumsnet approx 12 years ago following a conversation with a RL friend about how difficult I found to know what normal levels of housework are (career mum who didn't do housework plus disabled child who created mess and necessary jobs that don't appear on any cleaning list!) so possibly. She told me good housekeeping as it was called then was a friendly bunch
Also post on WeightLoss threads from time to time - in fact back on for January Blush
Work has and continues to be stupidly busy and transition to adult services with ds is a nightmare. Before Xmas I knew I had to try and reclaim some order in my life for my own well-being. And here I am (again) Smile

Morning everyone! My early night didn't work out as ds decided not to settle until gone 1. We lazed around in bed until gone 9. I have a feeling next week will be a shock for me when I have to get ds1 and dd to school with a baby and toddler in tow.

To do
Clean bathroom.
Dust and hoover porch (mission)
Washing and ironing.
Hoover downstairs.
Bath the little ones.
Declutter their wardrobe.
Take ds3 for 8 week injections.
Nurses appointment.

Having listed all of that I need to get a move on, but Im sat cuddling sleeping ds3 and im not sure I have the motivation to move.

Woman if you have any tips I would be very grateful. I had a c section so before Christmas the dc were being dropped off and picked up by friends. I guess it is just a case of being as organised as possible (not a natural strength of mine)

Report
W0MANlikeME · 03/01/2019 13:34

Yep organisation is the key. Ideally i get all uniforms ironed at weekend, book bags and any extra stuff sorted the night before and left by front door. I try to get up a bit before the dc although dc3&4 are both early risers.

Hi everyone...
Catches up.

I used to be on the threads around 2005 to maybe 2009 I guess. A long time ago...

I'm still wrecked. Have been out for lunch. Not done any housework.

Wait...there is a flylad app??

A warm welcome to Beepbeep and Tibni!

Tibni you sound as though you have a lot on your plate! Good luck with balancing it all! Hope the system works for you again!

Beep beep I confess to also having a cleaner too but I do have to do two home bleughs a week on Mon and Fri in wreck1, so she does one of those. A hoarding DH sounds challenging!

Hats off and mega-respect to those of you manoeuvring 3 or 4 DC out of the front door in the morning come next week!

Hills and Mercury sorry you had rough nights.

Groovie hope your chore bundles of 15 minutes are going well/have gone well!

Oh no about wm Mog. Hope you can get it sorted fairly quickly.

Good luck with baby clothes sorting Woman!

Mog, Foxes, Groovie thank you for your kind words - much appreciated - it's a difficult situation because guests are here to help in theory as dh isn't well. So I am hosting and providing hospitality but also feel obligated towards them too at the same time ifyswim.

Anyhoo, anyhow, atmosphere much better today. DH and I had very productive morning with architect which gave us a bit of time away and a feeling of having taken a good step forward. And then we all ate out at a local hostelry for lunch so feel a bit more rested!

Unexpected ta da, I swam 250m today. Not even all in one go 😂 but I am super unfit so I’m very pleased. Going to track it in my activity diary.
