Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

This is the August thread so I am reliably informed that it is usually more of a general chat thread. Links won’t be posted by an official ‘thread leader’ every day but I will leave some links in this OP. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

I feel that way about the washing machine that hates me. Well it doesn't it is just another example of touch screen technology that hates me and reaffirms ds' opinion that I have to be a vampire. I have been fighting technology and equipment all day. Tomorrow I am taking a hammer to work don't worry, cleared by the boss to see if we can fix something instead of replacing it

Foxes we've just wrecked the rubber seal in the washing machine with an underwire bra (in special washing holder). Dh didn't even notice the smoke coming out of the machine. It was only when I smelled burning that he noticed. You must be so disappointed with your top.

Hope seal not too expensive mrsforresteron blokes not noticing vibe.dp pop D's inhaler in on way to work(he had it still in his backpack from the hol) and didn't spot the huge amount light flood side house from my debrambling,even after I asked him to look at a specific spot!!

Dd2 has been on phone watch crap and swearing loudly (wearing headphones) at everything that annoys/shocks/ amuses her for nearly4and half hours.i got yelled at for ask her to take grass I cut yesterday(wouldn't do it yesterday)" have a life"- erm no you don't if that's what you class watch shit on your phone as a life...(didn't say it,thought it) she's still on it so I'm not making tea and she can bugger off if thinks yelling will get her any .I'm fed up asking her what wants/what time want it.she can go without til stops be so rude and ignorant.i feel one school starts phone will be held in confiscation as she will have minimum 2hours homework a night.amount accounts she has and follows on Instagram alone would suck up her entire night not incl wattpad and "chatting" another fan who lives in Tennessee and as she 6 hours behind us they don't start up til 8-9 pm(our time).I feel one hour on school days.three on weekends would be sufficient in order to allow her to actually have a life and stop be so insular.AIBU?

Not too bad to replace seal and needed a new bra anyway. - the joys of the manscan. Dh has no sense of smell either. His hearing is great though - almost superhuman.

Not stressed, just fedup with technology being stupid. Been one of those days where so much has broken or failed to work it was very hard to complete my job. And this stupid database has me logic baffled. So gone back to first principles and am writing the destruction manual which will help pinpoint issues and clear logic. The poor project manager is going to end up with a massive pile of paperwork on his desk when he returns next week Good luck to him is all i can say.

I've taken my head out of my arse regarding dinner.just simple frozen squash cubes and pasta toss with little garlic n cheese.shes been warned very firmly her attitude sucks and there will be consequences continues ..

In other news lil zoo has done a poo....she's go brave same dose tom(2x 2 sachets)despite be doubled up in hope it clears things thru and pain starts reducing.shes such a brave bunny! Hate see her like this tho

I have washed uniform - need it for tomo but it is done. I need an eye break so i might have to go do some flying at some point. Or make muffins. Muffins sounds like a better idea, although does have the potential for burning down the kitchen and after today that might not be such a good ideas

Just stopping by to write a ta da list as I can now use the iPad and therefore can do a list more easily than on crappy phone.

✅decluttered a tiny amount (pulled random bits from some BRCs and put them in the right places, some of which were BRCWSCs... it’s all progress right?!
✅fully sorted the Christmas decorations, they are now packed away including bubble wrap, just have one to ask mum to sew shut and a few to thread with new hanging string
✅had a brainwave to move all the emptied plastic tubs to the airing cupboard. This is a cupboard we haven’t used yet, as it had a horrible carpet due to a previous leak in the bathroom (sorted by HA before we moved, but the carpet was still gross). DH has stripped the carpet and underlay, we have an offcut to put down but in the meantime the cupboard is empty. So I have now put lots of empty boxes, and the empty suitcases, in it as the yucky smell has gone. It’s lots of old Really Useful Boxes and I can sort through eventually to see what has matching lids etc. Now that we have decent furniture we don’t need nearly so many.

Right I am done for the night. Going to see about some sleep and hope beyond hope that my uniform will be dry for the morning. It is that awkward stage of the year where it is not hot enough to dry quickly but not cold enough to need the heating on which would help the drying.

Loved the fact that the rain has cleared the air nicely and left my room with lovely clear air. Was distinctly muggy before the rain storm.

Any more bats SC? Hope the horse is ok and that you can avoid any more misadventures whilst at wreck 2.

Last load of washing in the machine and ready to go in the morning. I seem to be getting to grips with my new WM better than I thought I would ( technology) and have tried about three different programmes.
Have been out today taking DD and her friend ( who is staying) to small but excellent art gallery with cafe for lunch. Vegan food is available 😃
Then went onto village to two craft shops.

Trying to decide on kitchen, worktop, cooker. Must chose by anti - procrastination day.
Wiped worktops, took out recycling.
Animals fed.
Camping gear found and dragged out of shed.
Some emails answered.

Duvet on line but ready to whisk in any minute.More rain and DD is going camping with 10 friends to the Lakes hmmm might be a tad wet.We found enough plates for all of them.

Previous tenant’s extractor fan fell off the wall! Just glad nothing was cooking at the time and baby wasn’t in the kitchen.

It seems I am severely aneamic so iron tablets for metake month.blood tests then see if feel any better.anoth gp who thinks menopause can't be happening as I don't get hot flushes,so I just keep taking the tablet and see if it works

Hi all,

Not new to Flylady; she saved my house and sanity when the DDs were young (approx 8 years ago) but I've not kept it all up. I've incorporated a few of the tips into my life generally and things are better than 9 years ago, but I need to get back to it.

I've been away for 2 separate 1 week breaks this month, never unpacking properly. The kids are turning the half-sorted dumping space into a midden. The fridge/freezer needed a repair this week and is currently empty except for a pint of milk and a few odd bits - dragging that out created chaos in the kitchen. I'm trying to set up an etsy shop (vintage jewellery and hand-made stuff) and that's pretty disorganised and taking over my living room.

I need to come back. Washing machine is on and I'm off to the launderette as DD2 'had an oops' on my kinsg-sized wool duvet last night and that won't fit in my machine. Will be back later to re-read and start flying.

Typical about duvet.we used have a cat that decide yak up a furball on my duvet whilst covers were in wash.he panicked as I shouted to get off my bed and proceed run in circles chucking providing me a fairy ring on the damn thing.......

All washing up to date.Just waiting for DD to go then I am going to a mountain of ironing while watching a film. Managed to get some almost dry so a quick iron over will do the job then the dreadded putting away.
