Flying high in July (or trying to!) - the FlyLady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/06/2018 09:14

A warm (or cooling with our current weather) welcome to the July Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) posts links and missions from the Flylady site and also some friendly (!) personal comments. This is quite a ‘talky’ thread but we try our hardest not to be cliquey and new members are very welcome! I will do my best to keep track of everybody Smile.

Please note that Flylady is (understandably) keen for people to click on her site so please do have a look around the site and the links. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

The first day of the month is Sunday. Since it’s a weekend there is no official mission or zone work, unless you want to of course.

*
Here is the daily summary for Sunday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day).

I assume we are going into zone 1 next week which is the entrance area. However this week we have been in the living room. The Flylady website can take a few days to update the zones when the month changes so I will have a good look at it tomorrow and Monday to see where we are.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Spend 15 mins decluttering, or whatever you can manage, in Zone 5/ zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 5 is here.

Once I figure out July’s habit I will let you know what it is!

Clouds building,no idea where there are any coats.we may be about get moist as four different forecast are saying heavy rain at 8when we leave
This is why I seriously need up my game and develop some bloody organisation!!!!Sad

MsForestier · 20/07/2018 18:41

I'm scared of heights and I think that's why I've never attempted horse riding. Waves back at SC. I'm intrigued by the horse terms though - hacking etc.

HonkyWonkWoman · 20/07/2018 18:51

I know! It's really good!xx

HonkyWonkWoman · 20/07/2018 18:53

Sorry! That post above was for another thread, so doesn't make sense! Grin

HillsBesideTheSea · 20/07/2018 21:11

Hacking - taking the horse out for a country ride
Team chase - for those with a death wish and no sense of survival
dressage - also know as don't forget the pattern...

Grin

Many years back I had a friend who had arabians, and used to break in horses for people. Despite their flightiness i was never afraid of them. Cows otoh were described as dangerous and unpredictable by a friend who did vetrinary nursing and ended up looking after rhinos in a zoo. I avoid fields with cows if I can.

ds has had enough of me screaming obscenities at the washing machine that has this stupid new fangled touch screen system to operate it. He has offered to put the washing on for me. Blush

homemade pizza for tea#

and then bed. We haz the tiredz.

Scoopofchaff · 20/07/2018 21:22

Grin Hills too right about team chasing!

And I deffo avoid fields of cows when walking the dog.

I'm with you re: the tired. The old plates of meat are throbbing and I have a headache.

Wish the storm would break properly.

Cagliostro · 20/07/2018 22:11

Absolutely fucking shattered! So achy! One final push tomorrow 😭 and then we will finally be over in the new house

Scoopofchaff · 20/07/2018 22:14

Well done Cag you are very nearly there!! Bear

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 20/07/2018 22:22

You really are Cag Smile.

Well I have learnt a few horse riding terms tonight!

I’m exhausted. However, home bleugh is done and DD1 learnt how to tie shoelaces today Star.

Have resolved tomorrow to focus on decluttering and dealing with bickering Hmm.

Tonight I am focusing on sitting in bed watching telly Smile.

Thank goodness it is over!

What a stressful few weeks I have had.

Hope to catch up now. Cags you've almost moved, wow, well done you!

foxessocks · 21/07/2018 07:45

I did manage to go out , felt a lot better although stomach still not quite right, just crampy really.

Dh still not that well either but he has gone to work this morning like a trooper.

Ds was up from 4 till 5 but is still asleep now. Dd is up.and bouncing around on my bed because she wants her breakfast but I can't be bothered to get up! She's 4 now maybe I should teach her to make her own porridge Grin

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/07/2018 07:49

Morning.

ta da
grill pans in to soak
1st load washing on
left over pizza pinged in the microwave for breakfast....

to do
pack ds' stuff
more laundry
make my room completely tidy
tackle the lounge
load the dishwasher and run it
folding
ironing
wash bedding
clear junk off spare room bed
switch out matresses
shove junk back
paint menu board another coat
wash upolstery

Can anyone see the fatal error in that list? Yep that is NOT one day's worth of work, but I have 1 day to do it... Yay send minions, ice cream and a way to stop time...

Bowerbird5 · 21/07/2018 08:01

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well foxes.
I'm just so relieved I don't have to go to school today or any day for nearly six weeks. 😀I have 9 bags and a crate of paper work to sort though😩
Have to get up because DD home and I need to take her to work in 10 minutes.
Need washing liquid and get started on the pile.
Hoping I am in a cleaning mood. House hardly been touched as been so busy and knackered. Been clearing whole classrooms at school. You have no idea how much stuff is in a classroom.😱

Plan for today
Take Dd to work
Small shop
Washing
Tidy bedroom.
Clean kitchen wash floor
Plan rest of hols. Declutter one school bag.
Make DD something yummy for tea. She has cooked for me for last three nights bless her. Well last night I helped. I wanted comfort food quick. We made egg and chips for me and she had beans and some vegan concoction.
I rarely make egg and chips but I so wanted it last night. Yummy!

My legs ache today. I'm still in bed and they are aching.

Foxes put out a bowl of cereal and leave small jug of milk in fridge for her if you are really not well. I did this when DD a baby and DS 3 demanding breakfast while I was Breast feeding DD.

HonkyWonkWoman · 21/07/2018 08:33

Morning all....
Good luck with the final push Cag, and Good Luck with your unmanageable amount of To do's Hills, .
Have decided that it is Saturday today so I am not doing much, I am going to find time for myself and I'm going to relax and put my feet up! That sounds really naughty writer down but I'm doing it anyway.

Ta da
Fed cat 🐱 and Buffy dog
Emptied dw
White wash load on
Quick wipe round kitchen
Swish and swipe.

To do
Bit of food shop
Easy meals -might try the Salmon Pasta that Zoo (I think) makes.

Going to finish my holiday book and catch up with Kids Voice!
Any be lazy! So there! 😂

IVEgotthePOWER · 21/07/2018 08:41

🏠 happy moving day cag

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/07/2018 09:20

Good luck cag!

foxessocks · 21/07/2018 10:12

Good luck cag!

Good tip bower , I made us all porridge in the end , but my stomach ache remains Sad . The dc are winding me up this morning, probably lack of sleep all round.

Ta da
Most of daily routine
Started decluttering dh work wear but the dc were bouncing around area so have given up and having Brew instead while they watch cbeebies.

Since decluttering like crazy this week my house looks much worse than ever before!!! Hoping it's just a has to get worse before it gets better type thing...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/07/2018 10:45

Morning all, we are off on a family day out. Thankfully with my in laws rather than my parents so hopefully will be ok.

Good luck again today Cag. Oh dear foxes, it is so miserable being unwell with young DC Flowers. Fingers crossed the messiness is temporary. Happy school holidays Bower. Enjoy your time to yourself Honky.

I can’t help with minions or stopping time Hills but I will leave some ice creams in the naughty corner freezer.

Big wing flaps to SC, Ive, zoo and everyone else.

foxessocks · 21/07/2018 10:55

Ta da
Gone through the ironing pile and chucked a load of clothes
Gone through the rest of dh clothes just need him to say it's ok to chuck when he gets home.Have a feeling he won't agree to some of my decisions but really who needs 4 pairs of swim shorts?? He goes swimming about once a year!!

Cagliostro · 21/07/2018 11:07

Just waiting for the bus to new house. I dropped the Caglets off at their friend's party, stopped to feed baby and myself! Then got new sheets at wilko for the Caglets. The others had mostly packed by the time I left

Scoopofchaff · 21/07/2018 11:13

Afternoon fledglings! (Well, it is here!)

Hope you feel better soon Foxes! Impressed you are decluttering while ill although decluttering the ironing pile (pre-ironing!!) is always particularly therapeutic!!

Have a lovely day out Toostressy!

Very very noble of you Bowerbird to get up early to take your dd to work on your first day of holidays! Hope you can do some serious relaxing from now on in!

You too Honky enjoy the much deserved r & r!

[Releases Dobby the House Elf off to help Hills]

Thinking of you today Cag!

Farrier has come to shoe dhorse for first time who behaved impeccably (just front two feet). During the shoeing, there was a conversation going on about pig slaughtering between farrier and our friend/farmer/neighbour who looks after dhorse for us atm. It was all er... very ... agricultural. Picked up a load of good tips about best tack shops/best cart horse training people in vicinity though!

Sadly, need to get back to town and do some drawer decluttering before guests arrive next week (groan).

Have a lovely weekend everybody!

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/07/2018 15:22

Thinking of you cag.youve done a great job pulling this togetherStar

Dp is driving me mad.can I bash him over head and build patio to put him under outside naughty corner?!

Hurt my back carrying D's home from choir last night(second done was in hymn book rather on a photocopy and enlarged sheet and it made him dizzy) it's not far and he's not super heavy but he doesn't "help" and dead weight just hang there wasn't easy uphill to our house(less than 5mins)to add to that my bloody hip is grinding and knee on same side....

Bowerbird5 · 21/07/2018 16:05

OuchZoo!

I ache all over. Thanks for messages about hols and that I was noble SC but unfortunately she has got herself a job about 20mins away in the car. I was hoping she would look closer as she could cycle it if she went to M services. It is 9 hrs.

So because of lack of lie in I have:
Done shopping.
Cleaned most of kitchen surfaces. Re washed dishes and pans.
Washed one and a half loads of washing now washing machine has broken down.
Washed floor apart from where washing is.
Vacuumed and dusted sitting room.
Sorted a few bits.
Fed newly acquired cat and henny.
Admired tomatoes and pepper plants which i have neglected a bit this week but they have grown so DD must have watered them as requested.
Now ready for a sneaky nap.
I also arranged flowers that I received from male teacher, bless him. Not even garage ones, someone trained him well.

Bowerbird5 · 21/07/2018 16:06

Need to back track and catch up on what has been going on ...moving day and ponies hmm. think i have been missing out.
