Flying high in July (or trying to!) - the FlyLady thread

A warm (or cooling with our current weather) welcome to the July Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) posts links and missions from the Flylady site and also some friendly (!) personal comments. This is quite a ‘talky’ thread but we try our hardest not to be cliquey and new members are very welcome! I will do my best to keep track of everybody Smile.

Please note that Flylady is (understandably) keen for people to click on her site so please do have a look around the site and the links. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

The first day of the month is Sunday. Since it’s a weekend there is no official mission or zone work, unless you want to of course.

*
Here is the daily summary for Sunday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day).

I assume we are going into zone 1 next week which is the entrance area. However this week we have been in the living room. The Flylady website can take a few days to update the zones when the month changes so I will have a good look at it tomorrow and Monday to see where we are.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Spend 15 mins decluttering, or whatever you can manage, in Zone 5/ zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 5 is here.

daily focus

missions for the week

Once I figure out July’s habit I will let you know what it is!

beginner babysteps.

Happy flying everyone.

Here is our lovely boy Apache, he was four when we got him and is about twelve now.
The head shot was done by a professional photographer for the girls birthday a few years ago.
The other is recent in his field. He's in stables with five other horse, on farm land, just behind us. I can see him from my bedroom window.
He's out on grass most of the year so not too hard to look after and the other owners do a rota in Winter for
morning feeds and letting out during the day etc. so we're lucky.
Anyway, here he is, we all love him to bits!

Lovely pictures! I am perhaps irrationally afraid of animals larger than myself!

HonkyWonkWoman · 20/07/2018 10:48

Know what you mean I've I'm terrified of cows 😂 and won't go in a field if they're there. Also pretty wary of any horse that I don't know but Dd and twins can handle anything.

IVEgotthePOWER · 20/07/2018 10:49

Cows and their crazy eyes 🐄

foxessocks · 20/07/2018 10:50

Yes ive I think horses are beautiful but they do make me a little nervous!! Dd had a pony ride once on holiday and she absolutely loved it, such a happy memory I hope she will be able to have another go some time.

Ds slept all night hooray! Up at about 7. I have had tummy ache since about 4am though so still don't feel that rested. Think it's just hormones or something, dizzy as well. Dh still feeling poorly but his stomach is fine just a temperature and headache so don't think they are connected. He has gone to work but said he will try and finish early. I'm meant to be going out tonight but I won't leave him to do bedtime on his own if he's feeling too unwell.

To do
Take school forms in
Swish and swipe downstairs loo
Daily routine
More decluttering - still working through clothes

foxessocks · 20/07/2018 10:50

I always think sheep have crazy eyes 🐑

IVEgotthePOWER · 20/07/2018 10:52

I can cope with sheep. In my mind if a sheep went for me i could kick it and run away

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/07/2018 12:22

DS was convinced he could grow up to be a horse so I had get over my aversion to horses when he had such a strong urge stroke any we saw on our travels.sheep I can cope with.
Cows have Wild evil eyes
Stunning photos honky

foxessocks · 20/07/2018 13:34

Ta da
Swish and swipe downstairs loo
Decluttered bag and purse
Daily routine
Decluttered dh t shirts - just waiting for him to come home and agree to throwing the "no" pile out. Getting him to part with some rugby shirts is going to be the hardest bit Hmm

Still got stomach ache , really want to be able to go out later Sadmeant to be going out with my mum. Dh says he doesn't feel too bad so he doesn't mind being left in sole charge of dinner and bedtime.

Got a taster session at dd school now, looks likes its going to rain for the first time in what feels like months just as I'm heading out the door to walk up there! Suppose I'd better dig out the rain coats. No idea where mine is though.

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/07/2018 13:46

foxes if you don't take it guarantees to rain....

Forgot add tada in excitement of discussing animals freaky eyes avoids topic chicken eyes(sorry bower but their eyes terrify me)

Tada
Ran errands in town
Pop home bargains(be rude not to) but they didn't have my usual cheap rice cakes (39p instead over £1 in supermarkets)or breadsticks.grrr
Quick top up at Aldi
Put away shop
Pick up dd2 for orthodontics app(lunch break at school 1-2,app at 2)
Sort do,D's and dd2 lunch(I can't eat if hurried, not bothered at all yet today)

Still hot, humid and sunny here as we head out again...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 20/07/2018 15:37

I’m afraid I’m not a horse person either although. An see they are beautiful. They just seem unpredictable to me but maybe because I don’t know any!

Well we sorted my car and popped into school for something. Also went to library. Still loads to do though and constant bickering Angry.

IVEgotthePOWER · 20/07/2018 15:39

Omg the bickering. It has started here also. Angry

foxessocks · 20/07/2018 16:23

Yep zoo it rained and I couldn't find my raincoat so I got wet Angry the dc had theirs although dds too small!

Ta da
Put dh t shirts back, he agreed with all the "no" pile apart from one rugby shirt so he has reduced those from 6 to 4 something better than nothing I guess! He never actually wears them though. Although he has put one on now as a protest Hmm
Sorted dh shorts, none decluttered though but folded neatly.

To do
Cook early dinner as then I'm going out - chicken korma tonight

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/07/2018 16:26

Been orthodontist-track braces going in 3rd sept.be glad see back block braces...

Dp has been here since 9am.he is here til tuesday.he is getting on my nerves...

Scoopofchaff · 20/07/2018 16:41

Wow Honky Apache is absolutely beautiful! What a stunner! Those photos are amazing! Not sure ours can compete but fwiw ... . He is lovely and gentle; very solid leg on four corners type.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 20/07/2018 16:41

foxes, I’m sorry but I had to laugh at your DH’s protest shirt wearing Grin.

Raining here too, I should be pleased but I have washing on the line.

Managed to make some headway into home bleugh. Need to hoover when we get back from swimming. After swimming first though we need to go for quick food shop. Fun times Confused.

Btw Honky I know that blue headcollar is far too small; it has since been replaced with a proper fitting one!

It is raining here!! Very humid though.

Have just been out to get haircut, try on, choose and order new glasses and get two photos framed. I feel exhausted for some reason! Dh on holiday but driving me mad (has extreme case of ants in the pants).

Returned home to find that I had opened all contents of huge chest of drawers in boudoir on to bed. Now have to clean them all out, re-line and put everything back. Very tempted to do it tomorrow tbh ... .

Slightly weary waves to everyone!

HonkyWonkWoman · 20/07/2018 16:59

Awwww! He's lovely! Bless his cotton socks! That's just what you need, a sturdy, bomb-proof little beauty.
Btw! sc I'd have no idea about the head collar being too small, it's Dd whose the horsey one.
Apache came with a little pink head collar on, miles too small. I think they just stick any old rubbish on them, once they've sold them, just to get them in the horse box.
He does look a sweetheart though!

MsForestier · 20/07/2018 17:04

The closest I've ever come to a horse is 'My little pony' 😀

MsForestier · 20/07/2018 17:04

They are beautiful though...

Scoopofchaff · 20/07/2018 17:10

Thank you so much Honky he's a real character, and as you say, for dd's first horse, he is very reliable in traffic, farm machinery, other farm animals etc! I love him to bits!

He was a great favourite at the riding school where he came from, but not the best at being schooled in small circles! So he's a happy hack really and I am going to be long lining him in the autumn (ready for pulling a few tree trunks in new yr!).

How lovely you can see Apache from your window!

Scoopofchaff · 20/07/2018 17:11

Pass Zoo like your ds, I thought I was a horse until I was about four. Hugely disappointed to discover I was human!

Scoopofchaff · 20/07/2018 17:17

Foxes hope illness doesn't stop you from going out tonight!

[Hands out ear defenders to Toostressy and I've to cut out bickering noises]

Waves to MsForestier and everyone else!

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/07/2018 17:38

Zoolets fed n watered(eating now)
Choir in less than an hour.archdeacons coming next Sunday so zoolets need be learning piece tonight and next Fri( kids choir breaks up next sun til sept,Sunday school continues)
DS might not be fit to stanf, but at least he can start learning the piece for our visitor.as do has sulked off to bed without even saying anything I am tempted to go and stay listen to the sound of young voices rather than generator white of ancient fan he has in there on full power wasting all the electric for one person stead sit down here and we all share a newer less wasteful one

No bickering here .yet.....am sure still plenty time before bed!!!

HonkyWonkWoman · 20/07/2018 17:50

Dd gone to gym and then shopping after work so have tootled round for her while looking after Dgs10
Not much! Brought washing in off line as it's starting to rain, emptied Dw and put bits in from breakfast. Shine sink! Bet she thinks I'm weird as I keep shining her sink every time I'm here! She hasn't said anything about it though!
