Flying high in July (or trying to!) - the FlyLady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/06/2018 09:14

A warm (or cooling with our current weather) welcome to the July Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) posts links and missions from the Flylady site and also some friendly (!) personal comments. This is quite a ‘talky’ thread but we try our hardest not to be cliquey and new members are very welcome! I will do my best to keep track of everybody Smile.

Please note that Flylady is (understandably) keen for people to click on her site so please do have a look around the site and the links. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

The first day of the month is Sunday. Since it’s a weekend there is no official mission or zone work, unless you want to of course.

*
Here is the daily summary for Sunday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day).

I assume we are going into zone 1 next week which is the entrance area. However this week we have been in the living room. The Flylady website can take a few days to update the zones when the month changes so I will have a good look at it tomorrow and Monday to see where we are.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Spend 15 mins decluttering, or whatever you can manage, in Zone 5/ zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 5 is here.

Once I figure out July’s habit I will let you know what it is!

I wish sc but I don't think I'm anywhere near talented enough for that!!

Ta da
Swish and swipe bathroom
Decluttered and sorted dh boxers and handkerchiefs!

The dc were in bed and both quiet at 6.30pm, think that's our personal best! We didn't even realise the time when we sat down on the sofa. Unfortunately dh still feeling a bit poorly, he has a high temperature Sad he gets horrible temperatures when he gets ill and they often result in him having night terrors / confusion in the night . It's horrible! He's going to dose up on paracetamol before bed so fingers crossed he'll be ok.

Must do these school forms before bed...

HonkyWonkWoman · 19/07/2018 19:32

Ha! Thought too much cake had gone to my head for a minute then Stressy!
Don't worry, we all do it! I'm always whittering on to folk on threads who know me under a nom-de-plume until someone twigs it's me and gives me a prod with pointy stick.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 19/07/2018 19:34

Thanks Honky Grin. I often wonder how many of the people on MN are actually the same people with different user names!

OP posts:
HonkyWonkWoman · 19/07/2018 20:16

This is my name on all the friendly and nice threads but if I dip my toe into a controversial thread (not very often, as not good for bloodpressure) I name change. Don't want vipers invading our lovely threads!

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/07/2018 20:30

I have given up posting anywhere else. Mn is not what it used to be. And it would seem I rarely post here these days. Must dash promised ds a trip to tesco and he promised to help me empty and move a book case tonight...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 19/07/2018 20:54

Honky, I have another username that I reserve for truly controversial threads but try not to dip into them too often Grin.

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/07/2018 21:23

I don't post elsewhere often.agree with hills that back in the day it wasn't such a vipers nest

IVEgotthePOWER · 19/07/2018 21:35

I sometimes get drawn into the arguments Blush

Oh yes it was. It was a complete vipers nest, but you could tell people to fuck off and get a grip if they needed it.

What is different is all the lazy journo nonsense and the fact that debate is shut/shouted down by people with unpleasant/hidden agendas. But mostly the journo nonsense.

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/07/2018 23:52

Cagliostro · 20/07/2018 07:08

Oooh rain! I’m hoping we don’t get any tomorrow in particular.

More packing this morning I think, then over to the new house to await Ikea. Hopefully it’ll show up at the start of the delivery slot rather than later (1-5pm)

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 20/07/2018 07:40

It was cooler here the last few days but expected to get very hot again over the weekend.

First official day of the school holidays. Both DDs said they wanted a lazy morning. Needless to say they are up and bouncing around not appearing remotely lazy.

Scoopofchaff · 20/07/2018 09:31

Ooh, er, I am very intrigued now about all of your Mnsnet alter-egos !! Grin

I tend to post on far too many Brexit threads. I really shouldnt as it does nothing for my blood pressure. Hmm. Especially as am ultra-sensitive on subject as after two years we are no clearer knowing what is going to happen to our residency status here. (British Embassy reps clueless and thoroughly useless too! In fact at last meeting, we knew more about it than they did.). Anyway, if we crash out with no deal, that means presumably that all reciprocal arrangements for expats on both sides are totally f*** too!

What ho all! It's not cool here either (harrumph).
About to enter the steaming cauldron that is local hairdresser.

Had a bit of a nostalgic moment clearing out bedroom drawers this morning. One of my late ma's edicts was that one should always have a spare thin new dressing gown, a new nightie/pjs and a pair of slippers in a carrier bag in the bottom drawer ready in case you ever have to go to hospital! I have just come across mine which I had totally forgotten I had ever prepared! No doubt contents far too small now ... will have to try them on.

Honky cob sounds lovely! I'll show you mine, if you show me yours Grin Grin

Scoopofchaff · 20/07/2018 09:42

Enjoy your first day of the holidays Toostressy!!

I admire your hairdressing skills Zoo!

Keep going Cag!

Waves to Hills and to everyone else!

Empty dw
Quick wipe over kitchen.

If he gives me his big blue eyes, give in and let him go online.
