Flying high in July (or trying to!) - the FlyLady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/06/2018 09:14

A warm (or cooling with our current weather) welcome to the July Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) posts links and missions from the Flylady site and also some friendly (!) personal comments. This is quite a ‘talky’ thread but we try our hardest not to be cliquey and new members are very welcome! I will do my best to keep track of everybody Smile.

Please note that Flylady is (understandably) keen for people to click on her site so please do have a look around the site and the links. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

The first day of the month is Sunday. Since it’s a weekend there is no official mission or zone work, unless you want to of course.

*
Here is the daily summary for Sunday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day).

I assume we are going into zone 1 next week which is the entrance area. However this week we have been in the living room. The Flylady website can take a few days to update the zones when the month changes so I will have a good look at it tomorrow and Monday to see where we are.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Spend 15 mins decluttering, or whatever you can manage, in Zone 5/ zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 5 is here.

Morning all. Happy birthday foxes have a lovely flying-free day!

No not moving day yet (21st is when we move the main stuff like our bed over and spend our first night there) but we are supposed to be sorting a lot of stuff today. Friend is coming over to help move some bits over, and we also want to get more stuff ready for Sunday morning when DSS is borrowing his work van to move even more bits over for us and possibly do a tip run. We can’t prepare for that on Saturday as DH is working and the rest of us are out due to family obligations :( plus we are getting the piano moved this afternoon so need to get that ready (it’s a total mess around it, doors may need taking off hinges etc)

AAAAAARGH

IVEgotthePOWER · 13/07/2018 09:39

Deep breaths and Brew cag

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 13/07/2018 14:28

Bower I am halfway through that thread Grin. Hope things going ok with piano Cag.

Ta da:-
Cat to vet and her fur looks no worse so we will carry on with what we are doing which is good.
Home bleugh as my parents are coming tomorrow

To do:-
Phone my mum re tomorrow’s plans
Send a message to someone
Packed tea

Very busy after school again and also did not have time to do a food shop, didn’t expect to really and didn’t do it online so will have to go tonight with DC, later tonight on my own or super early tomorrow morning. Not sure which of those is least inconvenient!

IVEgotthePOWER · 13/07/2018 15:32

Its very very quiet on here

Is it broken?

Cagliostro · 13/07/2018 15:53

Hmm.

Nah I’ve barely been online today, it’s been absolutely batshit. Packed more games and books, took them over and showed friend new house. Cleaned piano as best we could, that’s now over at the new house. DH has dismantled an old bit of furniture and bagged up all the plants outside (we had a sort of makeshift flower bed with random stuff in it but it was a right state so needed sorting before we hand back the keys. They are just taking all the charity shop stuff round now.

Friend did push us to pack more stuff in a rush. So there are a few boxes that while they aren’t actually BRCs, do perhaps have some stuff that isn’t sorted/cleaned as I would’ve liked. However with only a week left I can’t be too fussy so it is a good thing she gave us a kick to do it really!

foxessocks · 13/07/2018 16:13

I have been at the seaside Smile getting takeaway with the family later. Refuse to do any housework whatsoever today. Dh has cleaned the windows, done the laundry, the dishwasher and is going to give the bathroom a wipe round ⭐

Cagliostro · 13/07/2018 16:14

Also OMFG the mess behind the old cabinet. Beyond gross (although actually my fears of finding mould/damp were unfounded so that’s something) so much crap and grime! I feel like I will never be clean again and have just crossed the void into some crazy parallel universe made entirely of dust

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 13/07/2018 17:22

Glad you’ve had a nice day foxes. Sounds as if you got loads done Cag!

Cagliostro · 13/07/2018 18:46

Hills no time for internet!

Still quiet on here?!

Since I posted they did a tip run, and we have moved more boxes over. In the rain! We had RAIN!

I felt all houseproud and quickly wiped up the muddy shoe prints I tracked into the hallway :o

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 13/07/2018 18:52

I’m out at a family school event tonight. Sorry to add to the quietness. Will be on later

It’s the weekend though, so no missions or zone work unless you want to.

Morning all

We had rain yesterday. Completely pissed it down in the morning.

Well done on getting so much done cag

I dunno what is up with me atm but i am tired, achey and grumpy!

Managed to sucessfully negotiate good hours for me with new job but cannot start until dbs is back so no idea when that will be. Could be a week, could be two months.

I am stressing that if i am struggling now and tired and grumpy, how will i be then! But all being well we will be £500ish a month better off. Which is a lot.

Gas and electric is now up to £250 pcm which is not good. But its a big house. Tbh about £50 of that is paying off arears from when we first moved in so once that is cleared it will be better. We obviously are using hardly any gas atm but feel i am constantly reminding dc to turn the bloody lights out when they come downstairs. I need to check the have energy efficient bulbs.

Busy day today. Dp at work. Dc actitivities this morning. Need to pick up top up shop too. Catch up on washing as yesterday wasnt good drying day.

Brew for everyone

Cagliostro · 14/07/2018 07:28

Morning all. Annoyingly I can't sleep. It's going to be an incredibly long day. I am really nervous about staying away from home tonight.

We did loads yesterday so I'm really pleased. However the living room is an absolute state - I wouldn't even want to put Cagletini on the floor atm.

DSS can't use his work van after all, he's still coming tomorrow so we can do a few bits in the car though which is great. I'm not entirely sure what the plan is though and obviously the Caglets and I won't be back yet. Argh.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 14/07/2018 08:06

Morning all BrewBrew

That is a fair bit extra a month Ive, can’t believe it rained for you too!

Cag, keep going Brew!

My parents are coming today, eek. Really not a good weekend for them to come as we also have people tomorrow and so busy with school events next week. But they are coming so hopefully we will manage to not have an awful time. I am trying to remind myself that DH and I are the parents and we make the rules. Eeek.

To do:-
Morning routine
Quick stash and dash if don’t get enough done.
