Flying high in July (or trying to!) - the FlyLady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/06/2018 09:14

A warm (or cooling with our current weather) welcome to the July Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) posts links and missions from the Flylady site and also some friendly (!) personal comments. This is quite a ‘talky’ thread but we try our hardest not to be cliquey and new members are very welcome! I will do my best to keep track of everybody Smile.

Please note that Flylady is (understandably) keen for people to click on her site so please do have a look around the site and the links. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

The first day of the month is Sunday. Since it’s a weekend there is no official mission or zone work, unless you want to of course.

*
Here is the daily summary for Sunday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day).

I assume we are going into zone 1 next week which is the entrance area. However this week we have been in the living room. The Flylady website can take a few days to update the zones when the month changes so I will have a good look at it tomorrow and Monday to see where we are.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Spend 15 mins decluttering, or whatever you can manage, in Zone 5/ zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 5 is here.

Once I figure out July’s habit I will let you know what it is!

I've and Zoo the DH situation sucks. But I'm glad you got some food into DS.

I bought a bikini today for my holidays and a sneaky galaxy caramel which I ate on my own in the car
General declutter. Mainly moved things from big boxes to smaller boxes
Smashed lovely teapot yesterday on marble fireplace tea and china shards everywhere. Then broke IKEA plate in kitchen today. The good news is that this forced DH to get out the hoover. He hoovered those two rooms and I hoovered the rest of the house
Put on a wash, hung it out, it got rained on - first rain in about a month hurray
Other bil and sil coming tomorrow so will scoot around tomorrow but thanks to fly lady and my clean bathrooms it won't take long!!

IVEgotthePOWER · 15/07/2018 07:20

Well last night we had a blazing row. Well we didnt. He came in a went nuts at me for no good reason. So thats feeling like an end tbh.

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/07/2018 08:07

We aren't faring much better I've
He wasn't consulted before boss put him down to work Fri lunch right thru til 830 today, then would have today off.he said nothing(I would've said don't assume I can.my partners unwell,as is D's and I can't do that shift.sorry)-he should've worked Fri thru sat on.go home.sunday pm til Mon pm.tues off(still has Tues off) he could've help shop etc on that shift pattern as doesn't start til lunchtime...anyhoo.hes off now but" too tired" to come over and help.ds needs wash and hair un matting/washing.he(not D's) spilt coke on D's bed.and left it.i need strip bed and wash returning sheets.i find that hard as it's a midi sleeper and mattress weighs a fucking ton.not good with a bad back.oh and go shopping, which will involve two trips as dd2 and I can't carry it all in one go

Tada
Littertray and bleach lav
Proper scrub loo
Bins empty
Write shop list
Feed zoolets

Hoping silent seething will allow me to get on and get all the above and some other stuff done.plus sort the fucking crappy eating that's been allowed to slip in. knows combo heat, illness and my depression tearing up at fault but need get a grip

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/07/2018 08:09

I should add D's will need to be help into bath and supported sitting, whilst wash with jug(darent fill bath case he faints/falls)fuck knows how go wash his hair.thank fuck in times like these the zoolets pull together and help.i won't be able to do jackshit without dd2 help...

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/07/2018 08:11

Zoo Flowers

We have a child related thing on today. So we have to be together. Telling myself its only 3 hours.

I dont know what happens then though. I told him last night i dont want this anymore, Im done. I expected him to flounce off but hes still here.

Scoopofchaff · 15/07/2018 09:02

Good morning fledglings!

I've I'm sorry to hear your "d"p is being such a twunt again. His behaviour sounds awful. Look after yourself Flowers.

Zoo sorry to hear yours is being so unsupportive too. Great news however about your ds eating again! I hope he goes on to recover quickly now. And I hate to ask but have you made a gp follow up appt for yourself yet? (Sorry if I've missed it down thread.)

Cassandra glad Flying proving helping when guests arrive and oh no at china smashing!

Welcome back Honky hope you had a lovely holiday and that Buffydog didn't miss you too much!

Glad the weekend with your parents is going ok so far Toostressy and good luck with the rest of your busy schedule!

Cag thinking of you and hope removals and associated bat-shittery going ok!

Hills hope big family gathering going ok too!

Seaside sounds just the ticket Foxes!

Wing flaps to Bower Whoknows Honu and to everyone else I've missed!

We are at that time of year when dh is finally meant to be on holiday but can't in reality quite leave his desk but because doc says he is meant to be taking it easy he is doing half days instead. Hopefully we will finally get to holiday on Thurs after I've had gynae appt too.

So while that is happening I am making real inroads (whey hey!) in to house decluttering (which never seems to get done in ordinary work/term time). Although the actual decuttering is hard going (especially with guests still here) I am really enjoying the result! Flylady wouldn't approve though because I have five different decluttering projects going on in different parts of house (food storage in kitchen, DD books and desk in her room, art cupboard in sitting room, my clothes in bedroom (and wardrobe in office) and finally two shelving units in play/tv room!). Arrgh! It's a bit bonkers but is the only way I can do it without getting bored! I am also still washing curtains and woollens while this lovely weather holds!!

Encouraging wing flaps to everyone!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 15/07/2018 09:12

zoo, may not help immediately and they cost a few pounds but you can get shower cap type things that wash hair well without water - better than dry shampoo
