Flying high in July (or trying to!) - the FlyLady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/06/2018 09:14

A warm (or cooling with our current weather) welcome to the July Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) posts links and missions from the Flylady site and also some friendly (!) personal comments. This is quite a ‘talky’ thread but we try our hardest not to be cliquey and new members are very welcome! I will do my best to keep track of everybody Smile.

Please note that Flylady is (understandably) keen for people to click on her site so please do have a look around the site and the links. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

The first day of the month is Sunday. Since it’s a weekend there is no official mission or zone work, unless you want to of course.

*
Here is the daily summary for Sunday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day).

I assume we are going into zone 1 next week which is the entrance area. However this week we have been in the living room. The Flylady website can take a few days to update the zones when the month changes so I will have a good look at it tomorrow and Monday to see where we are.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Spend 15 mins decluttering, or whatever you can manage, in Zone 5/ zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 5 is here.

Once I figure out July’s habit I will let you know what it is!

I think the "coming home" rhetoric sounds a bit arrogant tbh - although to be fair these lads don't seem too up themselves - not that I know much about it!

Just to add to excitement, traffic has been stopped outside here, helicopters overhead, police outriders etc, to make way for Trump calvalcade. Tempted to take furry out for conspicuous evening "evacuation" !!

You are all making me laugh Grin. Ive, perhaps try saying fuck off out loud (away from any children’s ears of course!) and see if you have better results.

Made it home actually only 40 mins late which was great going. Luckily didn’t have to pick DDs up as DH does that on a Wed so not the end of the world to be late.

Both DDs stayed up to watch the football but have fallen half to sleep so taking them up to bed.

Here is the daily summary for Thursday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day).

We are in zone 2 this week which is the kitchen.

July’s habit is swish and swipe which is a quick daily clean of the bathroom.

Can you punch a pillow?

Well I guess it is in fact NOT coming home. 🙄🤦‍♀️

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/07/2018 21:35

Did we lose? I can normally tell from the noise outside but it is strangely quiet.

IVEgotthePOWER · 11/07/2018 21:35

IVEgotthePOWER · 11/07/2018 21:36

I have been having a furious text row with "d" p all evening((he's stomped off to bed and is ranting via text from upstairs))

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/07/2018 21:39

Grin GrinGrinGrin

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/07/2018 21:51

I can now continue text arguing in the happy knowledge that I will not have to listen to any more footballing chants in my road
As you were people

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/07/2018 21:53

Ugh. Not a football fan but I wanted them to win. I like Gareth Southgate; he seems a genuinely nice bloke and so supportive of his team.

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 11/07/2018 21:58

And his team seemed pretty down to earth too.

Ds said: as someone who doesn't like football I am strangely disappointed.

My eye is still sort. Early night needed, early start tomo

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/07/2018 22:02

Yes the team seemed nice too. I have a real soft spot for anyone that is so publicly positive and supportive about their team / staff as Southgate is. It’s such a lovely management style and it would have been lovely to see that win. At least they did well.

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 11/07/2018 22:19

Nice to see a team playing and acting as a team, rather than a bunch of individuals who happen to be on the field at the same time.

Scoopofchaff · 11/07/2018 22:34

Aw, they did do well! Genuinely disappointed for them.

They are going to be playing Belgium next for 3rd/4th place !

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/07/2018 05:58

Either way you will win and lose SC hope it doesn't cause any ructions at yours (it is only a game after all)

Tadas
Fed cats
Wash on
Bleach lav
Sweep living room floor
Sweep kitchen floor
Wipe cupboard fronts
Clean hob
Wipe surfaces
Wipe WM and TD
Wipe tiling
Littertray and bins

Scoopofchaff · 12/07/2018 07:20

Aye indeed Zoo! And no ructions at all; we are going to be watching with Belgian neighbours (in the country) I think! Good excuse to sample some really good beer!

Great list (as ever) for this time in the morning!

Ta da yesterday:
packed DD off to course with packed lunch, correct kit, sleeping bag etc
walked furry at dawn
tidied kitchen
emptied dw
2 x loads of laundry
hung up to dry
fed wms again
sorted out mistake re: DD being put in wrong level of course
quick supermarket shop
collect stuff ordered from chemist
made veg aoup
prep chicken tray bake

Builder still resident at wreck2 so I must profit from being here and crack on with wool wash pile/boudoir and playroom decluttering. Difficult with guests though. Need to do more food shopping again!

First task - sort kitchen I left in a total mess last night!

Have a good day everyone!

Scoopofchaff · 12/07/2018 07:36

Also must:
change two beds
ironing
sort horrible dining room table hot spot
meal planning
