Flying high in July (or trying to!) - the FlyLady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/06/2018 09:14

A warm (or cooling with our current weather) welcome to the July Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) posts links and missions from the Flylady site and also some friendly (!) personal comments. This is quite a ‘talky’ thread but we try our hardest not to be cliquey and new members are very welcome! I will do my best to keep track of everybody Smile.

Please note that Flylady is (understandably) keen for people to click on her site so please do have a look around the site and the links. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

The first day of the month is Sunday. Since it’s a weekend there is no official mission or zone work, unless you want to of course.

*
Here is the daily summary for Sunday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day).

I assume we are going into zone 1 next week which is the entrance area. However this week we have been in the living room. The Flylady website can take a few days to update the zones when the month changes so I will have a good look at it tomorrow and Monday to see where we are.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Spend 15 mins decluttering, or whatever you can manage, in Zone 5/ zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 5 is here.

Once I figure out July’s habit I will let you know what it is!

Happy flying everyone.

Did everything except the bathroom because I had to iron some of dd clothes for tomorrow.

Tonight must wrap friends ds present so I can post it tomorrow.

It's cooling off a lot here tonight, really windy which is nice. Hopefully dd will fall asleep quicker as it's been taking her ages in this heat.

Cagliostro · 09/07/2018 19:28

I’d love to have a proper butcher, I’ve not found any locally.

Sympathies on the epic moodiness, I have been the same! Having my usual (since baby arrived) mid cycle bleed again which is accompanied by pure rage. Either that or I now have a 2 week cycle. Honestly it is a wonder I haven’t killed anyone today.

Went to the park (well, cafe) while the Caglets did tae kwon do, meant I had a bit of fresh air and time with DH without the older two (rare these days). Trying to make new plans to adapt due to the lack of Ikea 😡

Particularly thinking of things to do while mum is here - she is going to sew a few things for us, I will have a long bath tomorrow as I’m too tired tonight (and can’t do it without another adult here). Also going to get a few bits for the new house like laundry baskets before going up to the house where my big plan is to...

SHINE MY SINK!

HillsBesideTheSea · 09/07/2018 19:43

Very nice foxes
Like cag we don't have a local butcher

Fed lil zoo
About give D's meds and a cracker or two(hopefully)

DP has decided to not only book take zoolets away few days, but it's a long drive away making it impossible for me to cope with and he knows how down I get when they are all away from me at once.

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/07/2018 19:48

giving up for tonight
Have good evening, hope it's cooler wherever you are to sleep
Night

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 09/07/2018 20:05

zoo, it’s really tricky to advise over the internet which is why I hardly ever comment. It depends how much he is drinking and how big the wees are really. I would be inclined to phone GP if still only going twice a day tomorrow and of course keep a good eye on him overnight. He’s not drinking much but it’s tricky because if you are poorly and dizzy you probably don’t want to drink much and don’t want to stagger to the toilet either. I’d be inclined to phone the doctors in the morning, it may be worth a chat to a doctor or a nurse on the phone Flowers.

Waves to foxes, SC, Cag, Hills and everyone else.

About to start bedtime, will be back on with links later.

WOW! I just can't keep up with you lots posts at the moment.

My TA DAs are few and far between however last week I finished all my Art / DT door the term and only have meditation to do for RE! So we will have a quiet time tomorrow then some free time for art. My lovelies. I only have two lessons left with them😪 I so love that class and still don't know if I will have them next year.

DD has returned home with half her house which she has squeezed into ours. Oh the mess I can't even clear the kitchen floor. On top of which I have been trying to get throug washing loads of duvet covers which were going to be thrown out. I am washing them to take to the Women's Refuge or the charity shop. Gardening has taken over as priority and I am really excited as it looks like we are getting a summer house but not until September because the guy is making one a day till then. We have looked for two years and they are either not very well made or £10,000😳 the guy came out gave us advice and is sending a quote out. Lovely family business which also has a cafe, gift shop and some garden things.
Ta Das today.
Full day at work
Washed up
Loaded rest In dishwasher.
BBq for tea.
DH returns to work so hope to get into a bit more routine.

So tired from work. Sorry to hear about poorly people and I'm a bit incapacitated at present.

Cagliostro · 09/07/2018 23:02

Hey bower :) that will be testing having DD back, I can’t remember if you said why she’s back? I thought she lived separately or I may be getting confused.

ta da
✅didn’t kill anyone
✅made dinner
✅washed and dried cushion covers
✅another load washed and dried with yesterday’s towels
✅packed stuff
✅sorted through shoes
✅organised some help/company over the next few days
✅ordered Tesco
✅made plan for tomorrow

Stress levels seriously escalating here but that may be hormonal as well. We haven’t done much in the evening.

Bowerbird5 · 09/07/2018 23:38

She went to Uni and didn't come back for 8 years. They just can't afford to live there anymore. People in London are moving out to this city and prices are shooting up.the rent is horrendous and she has studio space and co operative gallery ( until last year) to pay for too. All her clothes are charity shop and food is discounted. One of her friends skip ratched for four years to get through Uni.
They are here to make money then off traveling while still young enough.
Bummer about IKEA. Could you hire a van and get it? Do you have a friend with one or an estate car?
I used to be in LETs and that was the sort of thing we did for each other.

30 in the greenhouse at 5 pm! I'm loving it.stuffy just now looking forward to DH going back to work so I can have bed to myself again. Windows wide open. Our are sash.

Bowerbird5 · 09/07/2018 23:40

Oh I did clean basin and toilet and shined my old, old sink.

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/07/2018 00:20

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/07/2018 00:20

Summer houes sounds exciting bower

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/07/2018 05:32

Summer house sounds lovely bower
Is it tomatoes in the greenhouse?

I am up,I am hoping weatherman hasn't lied to me and it's going to be cooler

foxessocks · 10/07/2018 07:06

Morning all. BrewBrew

Bowerbird5 · 10/07/2018 07:19

Morning.
Yes it is just a bargain £25 plastic greenhouse as thinking I might splurge out in retirement for a decent one if I use this one enough.

I have four tomato plants in, different varieties. Two pepper plants, two chillie plants, one blueberry some bean seedling which need trans ferred and some stuff like kneeler, trowel, bag etc.

Very excited about summer house as I have been researching for two years. Debated as we need new kitchen so price an issue but think we have found the ideal one. They look well made, sturdy. Will line and paint it. Will prep ground and site it for us. I like the look of the hexagonal ones but lose space for price and so have gone for rectangular with windows and patio doors at the front and long window at side. Will be painted in my choice of F&B colours.
We made a Wendy House for DD when she was two so replacing it with something for us. Will be able to read, have afternoon tea, Pimms and use. It to paint and drw in. DH says he is having it as man shed but I said no way you have thee out houses pick one. He has jumbled mess in all three. Bikes x5 and lawnmower and tools in one. And just stuff in others paint etc plus jam pan, deep fat fryer etc stuff we rarely use. It needs decluttering too.
Best get cracking. It is cooler here. Enjoying lying here as it was roasting in the night.

foxessocks · 10/07/2018 07:25

We have one of those pop up greenhouse things bower , love it! We have tomatoes, cabbage, radishes. Not sure what else dh did. He is the green fingered one in our house!

So far this morning - dd wet the bed just as I took my first sip of coffee - I changed her bed yesterday! Talk about timing. Ds has had a major tantrum about putting his nappy on. Hmm

foxessocks · 10/07/2018 07:27

Oh and ds have me a panic because he is poo was dark red. Did some googling and someone mentioned red velvet cake then I remembered he'd had a big slice of that yesterday so panic over Grin apparently the large amounts of red food colouring in it make your poo go red. I've never actually had it before so didn't realise!

foxessocks · 10/07/2018 07:27

Sorry lots of typos there!

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/07/2018 08:09
