Agree I've sounds totally nuts to me!

I need it for tomo morning SC not time for online ordering. Ds has inherited my tendancy towards heat stroke and been unwell the last few days. Thankfully ds' school has a blazers in bags rule this week due to the heat. Ties have to be worn but not blazers, although they have to have them with them. Confused

Scoopofchaff · 26/06/2018 18:57

Oh I see; bummer Hills - hope you both feel better soon.

If your school is like ours hills full ridiculous rules but no useful ones...

Giggage · 26/06/2018 19:18

Thank you MN

decided it was best not to have my rant up online considering idiot neighbours and possible repercussions.

Anyway,

Ta-dah's

Nothing.
well, I did make two cakes to go to ds's school bake sale for tomorrow....only it's not tomorrow, it's Thursday. They'll keep for 48 hours in the fridge wont they? There's fresh cream as the filling.

Giggage · 26/06/2018 19:24

SDS has a school like that too.

No lockers, has to wear a blazer and tie at all times and carry their stuff around with them all day.

It's daft. His bag weighs a ton as it is, without a separate PE bag, cooking stuff and sports gear.
Some poor sods have to carry around musical instruments too.

No lockers are provided due to health and safety, but surely having a locker to use is safer than carrying all that around? Although I do suspect it's more about money than the students or health and safety.

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/06/2018 19:33

Indeed giggageHmm

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 26/06/2018 19:56

Ooo i watch ackley bridge too but when the dc are at school!

Cagliostro · 26/06/2018 20:09

No lockers because of health and safety? What? 🧐
Some of these uniform rules are batshit too. 😡

I’m intrigued as to gig’s rant now!

I’m mostly ok sc thanks, it’s the labyrinthitis type spinning so not sure if that’s developing (would be completely shit timing if so 🙄) but it was just very occasional, catching me totally unawares 😖 if I felt otherwise well I’d have taken the chance but I’m just really shattered and achy and thought NOPE.

Caglets did well going to the park to meet friends without me going at all. Not that I got anything useful done in that time or even got much of a rest really since I was anxious the whole time 😂

Scoopofchaff · 26/06/2018 20:14

That sounds crap Cag, go steady.

I am also bemused by no lockers because of h&s. Rotting sandwiches or dangers or locking yourself in I wonder?

They have none at dd's school; DC end up lugging ginormous rucksacks about.

OP posts:
Giggage · 26/06/2018 20:33

To be honest, I'm not sure.

They said something about food left in lockers, stuff falling out onto heads of those using lockers underneath.
All excuses. If my old school is anything to go buy, I suspect it will be due to the cost of lost keys, maintenance and drilling the lockers into place.

Cagliostro · 26/06/2018 21:22

Sounds like bull to me. A lot of rules for teens at school are far harsher than what any adult would have to put up with at work, it’s not fair.

ta da
✅dryer on
✅phoned HA to pay rent and set up online account thing
✅filled a bin bag of rubbish and got two bags for charity
✅made decent dinner
✅got the Caglets to pack up two boxes of books and remove wall stickers from their room
✅wrote a few lists and plans in the Moving Notebook

Didn’t get round to decluttering clothes though, just felt too crappy and we watched the film instead. Feel pretty rubbish now and want to go to bed when the Caglets do, as soon as the Sabrina the Teenage Witch episode is finished!

Cagliostro · 26/06/2018 21:23

Their reasons sound like bull I mean, not you!

GoingGoingGoth · 26/06/2018 22:17

I think you are right Cag some of the rules you hear about are ridiculous. Although I'm fairly impressed, DD's school is allowing the pupils to have school hoodies rather than blazers next year. Might not be quite as smart but they should be warmer come winter.

Not being allowed to remove ties/blazers in the heat is just cruel.

Additional Ta-dahs
Post Office
Collect DD
Tuesday friend round so knitting with lunch of falafel & hummus in pita followed by rhubarb & yogurt
Walk - 11k steps today
Bit of gardening
Dinner
Washing up
Packed orders
Ironing

Let DD have later night/longer with phone & she's gone stroppy so it looks like we'll be back to normal time or earlier tomorrow.

Cagliostro · 26/06/2018 23:22

Oh FFS. DH arrives home. I notice bandages on his hand... turns out his fingers got crushed by a mobility scooter 😂🤦‍♀️🙄😖😱

We are now in the “I don’t have time to get it seen to” vs “it is better to get it checked rather than let it get worse” debate 🙄

His view is that his hands are generally fucked anyway. True (multiple injuries over the years) but that doesn’t mean you don’t treat new ones does it?!

Scoopofchaff · 27/06/2018 05:34

[SC emerges from behind a large banana tree wearing safari costume exclaiming, "argh Carruthers, the heat, the flies"]

Sorry - another dreadful night - positivelysteamy jungle heat here now! Have been attacked by mozzies again too!

Hope everyone survived it!

And hope your dh's hand is ok Cag!

Oh gawd Goth I let dd have her phone overnight last night (very rare occurrence) hoping now it wasn't a wrong move: she has a busy day ahead doing different things with three sets of friends. See I am going to have to put some boundaries in place for phone use over holidays that are firm but fair etc etc.

Anyway, anyway, hope everyone has a good day! I have hideous amounts of choring to do! Had better get on with it!

Links coming up!

Tally-hooooooo!

Baby step no. 27 for Wed 27th June is here! A very good and highly recommended step about planning dinner in advance of 6pm!

We are in Zone 5 all this week: The Living Room, Den, Family Room (June 24-30). Spend 15 mins a day decluttering this area (and/or do a mission!).

If you are at the stage where you have finished decluttering Zone 5, here is the detailed cleaning list for the sitting room etc.

Wednesday's mission is: here. Dust the hard-to-reach high neglected areas of sitting room ie tops of doors, pictures, mouldings, windows, ceiling corners and tops of curtains etc.

Wednesday's daily focus is: anti-procrastination.

The monthly habit for June is keeping hydrated by drinking lots of water

A summary of the above (which should update itself daily) can be found in the flight plan here.

Onwards! Forward the brave! And be careful not to fall off any ladders!

Morning
Was a warm one here too SC.iam tired before even start.was up til gone 11 with lil zoo tummy hurting, then finally got her to bed I couldn't sleep as too hot...

Lots to do here today so best get on with it

Today's mission- don't think I've ever cleaned top door frames in my living roomBlush

Callmecordelia · 27/06/2018 06:35

Hello all.

We're in our fourth week of garden work and it looks tantalisingly close. Everything has come through the house. Slabs, soil, bricks, fences.... Turf to come on Friday. I am ready for it to be over now, to have my kitchen back not being a walkway and not having the dust.

DS and DD had trouble sleeping last night in the heat and everyone is tired.

I haven't been doing too badly with the house since starting work, but I have cracked and contacted a cleaner. It'll use up the last few pounds I earn and then some, but I have one guaranteed morning to myself a week when I pay for DS to be in nursery for a few extra hours (DH works at weekends a lot) and it is clear now I've been doing the job for a couple of months that the precious time gets taken up with cleaning and jobs for every other person in this house other than me. It's supposed to be my time to get out and about and do something and it is just not happening.

Anyway, so all I'm doing is whine, whine, whinge. There's lots to be happy about. I like the job and the garden will be fabulous when done. I have a fancy pants rotary airer to put in it, and a garage full of outdoor sofa to build. I can't wait. Outdoor space at last!

I didn't get round to posting on the last thread, but your new house looks lovely Cag. Hope you get your DH hand seen to. I know - believe me, I know - how overwhelming it must be to have all the stuff to pack, but it will be worth it.

SC - the magicking up of time is very annoying. I can relate to the situation.

I've - I'm pleased UP is having a better spell. Long may it continue.

Waves to everyone, it is a little cooler with a breeze here this morning. Here's hoping. Those poor men in my garden are roasting (south facing, no shade. Yet.)

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/06/2018 06:53

How exciting callme

I totally get why hiring a cleaner.working and everything else we all need five mins to call our souls our own!!

Tada
Bleach lav
Fed cats
Littertray
Wash on
Soak net curtains in napisan(disgusting colour AND decorated with cat boogiesHmm)ready to wash later
Wash up from last night

Lil zoo has had morning meds and still has bad tummyache(sigh)it's hard.her elimination low fodmap phase is very very restrictive and she's not ment to have apple or sweeteners.we allergic to orange so having to "bend" the rules as she simply won't drink plain water to allow a little squash(cheers government for your nanny state on sugar which isn't working anyways as proven not to have changed people's shopping habits buying squash without apple in or sweeteners is impossible..that's the only thing she has that's not ment to (no guarantee its that anyways but still feel guilty).....

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 27/06/2018 06:59

Can someone please explain to me how british gas just put my payments up in june when the heating hasnt even been on...

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/06/2018 07:58

This is why I am not with British gas I've....

Warzone here.dd2 didn't get up.on 4th yell and poke of her attempt it was time to literally leave,no breakfast.shes f n jeffing as didn't pack bags etc.couldnt find pe kit(fairies had washed it but she hadn't bother put back in bag as requested n had search floordrobe for it)she supposed meet friend 7.50.with no phone and ten mins late she will have gone without her.obvs all my fault.i said if you cannot regulate time go sleep Vs when have get up not my problem.i just drag you out bed for school

HillsBesideTheSea · 27/06/2018 08:00

Inflation? End of a fixed payment level period? Because they can? Because it was announced a couple of months that they were going to?

Who actually knows?

Ds' school is pretty good. although ds claims the water fountains are disgusting (and I'd believe it) And tbf the school have provided lockers, none of the kids wear coats, cooking items have to be put in the cooking rooms before registration (and any item requiring refrigeration labelled and in the fridge), blazers are banned in weather like this, and shirt sleeves will be told to be rolled up eventually and probably will be told today tbh but no guarantees and the rule is no rolling up of sleeves so it a rule deviation by the school...(But Aspies ) water bottles are allowed on desks in lessons, the only request is that bought bottles have labels removed to stop fidgeting/fuss (which is fair to me)

Still feeling crap this morning. So it will be a cool shower and hair wash before I get going.
