If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and wine and cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it June already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore Flylady's barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to her emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

The launch pad is the place from which you can reach most other useful areas of the site: here.

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are at!. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Happy Flying one and all!

I can't type what I would like as potentially it could be considered liable. But the jist is that I don't have a good opinion of MPs and their motivations and how they affect the country.
Sad

I have had a very lazy day so far. I do hope that you are continuing to make good progress.

Scoopofchaff · 24/06/2018 13:58

Thanks Hills
Thanks Hill's (very unusually) I am on a roll today!

It's partly because dh is away so I'm released from constant meal prep!!

Currently watching England match whilst decluttering/cleaning boudoir!

Sorry Cags Scottish summer holidays are a month earlier, I think it's in hope of having some better weather.

Went of a long walk Pokemon hunt today with DH & DD and there were no arguments Grin

DD is now out at a friends and so DH & I are having a couple of quiet hours. Done a curry and then on with a bit of gardening - who says romance is dead

Urgh

I am flopping

Cagliostro · 24/06/2018 18:07

Aaah yes I always forget Scottish summer holidays are earlier, you go back in August don’t you.

Well today was indeed lovely but exhausting, I have just spent some time lying on the bed since we got in. The actual sponsored walk was short and absolutely easy for me (wouldn’t have been a couple of years ago so that’s a win in itself) but the travel was a killer. We are now collapsing with a takeaway (pizza chosen by birthday girl).

Driving not possible for me sadly due to the difficulties I have, bad enough before but since getting ill with the dizziness and brain fog, just not safe at all. :(

Anyway. This morning got off to an awful start - got to bus stop and after five minutes I realised I had forgotten today was Sunday, and so the buses wouldn’t be their normal times and I’d looked at the wrong bit of the timetable online. Phoned taxi. DH then realised there wouldn’t be room for all of us because helloooo there are five of us now! So he ran to the station and we just got there on time, as it took ages loading everything into and out of the car. (Worth it though as seven bagforlifes left the house today - baby clothes for DN plus some outgrown toys for DGN.)

Anyway the rest of the day was nice, I am glad I can rest now though. It’s a stark reminder of what is often referred to on MN as the Mental Load. Utterly exhausting!

Added a new thing to the to do list though - for once DD actually doesn’t know what to do with her birthday money and she is now old enough for a debit card, so I need to set up a bank account! And then we will change her pocket money to a standing order instead of cash.

I feel so old, how is my little girl big enough for a bank card 😭😭😭

Oooh Pizza is here yay

SC when you get chance you might want to get the 2nd thread set up. We often fly through the last 20 posts of a thread. I will keep an eye on it too in case you don't get chance. Hope that you manage to achieve what you wanted without exhausting yourself.

It is tooo fucking hot today. And I have cooked pizza and I am working in an area where the lights produce heat Hmm. Am about 1/2 way through the decorating prep. Also currenting working my way through the washing mountain. Work uniform, school uniform, normal clothes, towels, old towels with bleach on them that can't be mixed with other stuff. etc etc. I have decided that the switch is going to be made, no more fabric softner, and only use white vinegar. Clothes not quite as soft but no recipe change issues thanks a fucking bunch Vitalite (yes i know that is a food stuff not a washing thing) but it works reasonable well and the less soap residue and fabric softner coating on the fabrics the better they are starting to feel.

Right better go find out what ds is doing to make the horrible nose that he is making that is creating the urge to yell at him for making it Hmm Oh and more decorating prep and laundry

Blush

Dd has been demanding today. Constantly either asking me to do something or needing to be stopped from doing something she shouldnt. This has been the theme since 6am....

I was practically with you on your country walk Zoo, "the silence, the birdsong, breath taking rolling English countryside, the hawk circling".
What a beautiful picture you "painted"!
Doggy house guests have gone home now, plenty to do but will wait until tomorrow.
Managed to do a bit of weeding, so bonus points for that!
Enjoy the gorgeous evening everyone!

Scoopofchaff · 24/06/2018 20:53

Very well done everyone on surviving your various adventures today [proud mother bird welcoming fledglings back to nest emoticon and --no I haven't been drinking] Grin

Gosh yes Zoo your walk sounds amazing! Hope you are enjoying the lucious strawberries and aren't too exhausted!

Hope you are enjoying your evening too Honkywonk !

Your days seem to have been rather strenuous though Hills and I've Brew Cake Gin Well done for ploughing on through and arf at biscuit crumbs and loud noises!

I can totally understand why you wouldn't want to drive in those circumstances Cag and Zoo.

So glad you had a lovely day today Cag even though the travel sounds v stressful. Sounds like your dh's marathon prowess proved useful! Very gallant too! Funnily enough, we have just set up dd with bank account and debit card too! So strange at their age isn't it?!!

Whey hey Goth! Smile I think romance is dead in this household. Dh just came back in the front door a few minutes ago and his first words were "what's for dinner?" [sigh]

I have stopped decluttering. Felt a bit iffy later on today (had palpitations - sound familiar Zoo? Smile - and felt a bit sick). It's always one damn thing or another atm! Or I am allergic to Flying Wink

Big feathery waves to all!

Baby step no. 25 for Mon 25th June is here! Reading Flylady's personal testimonal on how she developed her routines one step at a time and how not to get bogged down in perfectionism!

We are in Zone 5 all this this week: [[http://www.flylady.net/d/zones/zone-5/
The Living Room, Den, Family Room (June 24-30) here]]. Spend 15 mins a day decluttering this area (and/or do a mission!).

If you are at the stage where you have finished decluttering Zone 5, here is the [[http://www.flylady.net/d/zones/detailed-cleaning-zone-5/
detailed cleaning list]] for the sitting room etc.

Monday's mission is: here. Sofa and chair diving!

Monday's daily focus is: the home bleugh. Ten mins on each of seven essential tasks. NB not many of us can do it in this time!

The monthly habit for June is keeping hydrated by drinking lots of water.

A summary of the above (which should update itself daily) can be found in the flight plan here.

Have a productive start to the week everyone!

Blooming Heck SC Star for the organisation and flying!

Sending one back in return Star Hill's for Forth-Bridge like decorating efforts! How long is the renovation continuing do you live in a castle?

✅dispatched (despatched?) baby clothes and toys to new owners - unfortunately the last lot wasn’t dry but I will give those to someone else or charity
✅survived the day. Just about!

I ache so much. Baby is still awake

beepbeep321 · 24/06/2018 22:55

Ta da

Clean kitchen again at end of day
Washing done, dried and in piles to put away tommorow
Pack ups made and in fridge
Childling shoes located
Clothes for tommorow ironed and on back of chairs
Started on hot spots ... did 3 lots of 2 mins throughout day.
Will continue this week with that one!

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/06/2018 23:22

No not a castle but one of those houses where you start a job and find 101 things that need to be done before the actual job. It is very frustrating and I am done with the nonsense now. So very done.

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/06/2018 23:24

Oh heck cags hope you manage to get some rest soon !

Sc this batched will be finished end of the month - well that is when it needs to be finished for. I have a blister on my finger where I would lean a pen for writing though Sad
