June's arrived too soon! Catch up with the Fledgling Fly thread ... .

If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and wine and cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it June already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore Flylady's barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to her emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

The launch pad is the place from which you can reach most other useful areas of the site: here.

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are at!. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Happy Flying one and all!

Oh also ta da (may as well boost my ego with more achievements however small)
✅bought bin liners
✅got measurements for furniture in BHF
✅rinsed and dried towels
✅put clothes wash on
✅posted about sports club and upcoming changes (need to see if it’s viable to change to the park near our new house eeeek)

I still want to write a list of stuff that needs storage. Thinking mainly all the different toy types (knex geomag etc etc) and also all the random things that could go in the weird long cupboard downstairs that don’t need constant access. Maybe stuff like gloves/winter hats, tools etc.

We have two very tall trofast units, and they might fit well in that space, and would probably be better than going in the Caglets’ rooms as they are so tall and the top buckets aren’t reachable for DS without standing on stuff. So I want to work out if it’s a good idea to have at least one in that cupboard which could then be accessed when needed infrequently. Lower buckets could theoretically become our shoe storage. Hmm.

Bowerbird5 · 22/06/2018 05:14

Thanks Hills. Don't know what has happened but yesterday they appeared all over the posts so I can't read some. This is on iPad. All the Mumsnet stuff on right and ads over the top blocking out the text😠

No Ta Das yesterday due to increase in workload. I feel exhausted. Think today might be the same! I will need a large gin tonight.

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/06/2018 06:14

bower please pace yourself lovely
Foxes thinking of you todayFlowers

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 22/06/2018 06:19

Morning all Brew

HillsBesideTheSea · 22/06/2018 06:24

Take it easy whilst adjusting to the increased work load bower

I pinged awake at 6:10 am which is a bit of a pain as I need the sleep and didn't have to get up for more than an hour Sad

I should probably go do some more of the sanding that I didn't get done last night. It would be nice to be able to throw some watery paint at the wall later. Just sooo tired and my eyes want to be asleep even if my brain doesn't Hmm

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/06/2018 06:32

How did you sleep I've

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 22/06/2018 07:13

Did get a "full" nights sleep. However feel like CRAP. Back ache and ear ache. Lovely.

Big 3 dc are still in bed so i need to try and sort that out ....

foxessocks · 22/06/2018 07:26

Thanks zoo

Better nights sleep although ds still woke for milk at 2am and then dd wet the bed just after. However after we'd got them sorted we did get more sleep , dd got up at 7 and is playing quietly in her room and ds still asleep.

Need to get up and moving in a minute as first things first dd still has a morning at nursery

Bowerbird5 · 22/06/2018 07:47

No choice at the moment😕

Hence no flying. Feel better after a good nights sleep. Thank you for the concern you are a lovely bunch. I have nothing planned this weekend so will tackle. Some decluttering...slowly. I have a mountain of clothes to put away. I bought a new iron and managed to get the ironing done though wrist ached next day. I hate putting clothes away!
Well better get moving, looking forward to 3:30pm!

Scoopofchaff · 22/06/2018 07:51

Good morning all!

Excellent bread and cheese conversation there Hills and Zoo Grin Grin

Good luck with sanding Hills!

Good luck with everything today Foxes!

Glad you had some sleep I've but sorry you are feeling rotten! Have you heard about your friend yet? Hope she is ok.

Good luck with your exhausting day Bower and do take it steady.

I absolutely love malt loaf Zoo! I always buy extract of malt to bring back here when in the UK too. Only complaint; I can never get my own loaves to be malty or squishy enough!! Any tips?

Good luck Toostressy with day 3 of challenging days at work!

Big waves to everyone else!

Well we had proper confirmation from a teacher last night that dd has passed - yay - so much relief all round! She can now progress to 4yr of secondaire. She is over the moon about her results but v v sad for her friend. (And she still has to work on maths during the holidays for a test on 31st August before start of term on 1st Sept though so seeking out a tutor for the countryside! Have already found four potentials!)

Cleaning lady is here thank heavens as I have done little to no Flying this week. DD and I both about to leave for school Mass so just posting today's links again here in case they got lost in the mire of my posts last night!

The summary for Thursday 22 June is available on the Flylady website here under "Today" and via the flight plan which should update itself automatically on a daily basis.

Baby-step no. 22 for Thurs 22nd June is here. It is about building a control journal in 15 easy steps here. Some of us have and some of us haven't!

We are in Zone 4 this week : The Master Bedroom, Bath, Closet (June 18-24) here.

Spend 15 mins decluttering the current zone.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list for Zone 4 (if you are at that stage) is here.

Thursday's mission is here. OK so having decluttered the surface of the bed, underneath the bed, to the left of the bed , we are now going to spend a little time decluttering, you guessed it, to the right of the bed, without becoming overwhelmed! (Well that's the theory anyway!)

The daily focus for Thursday is running errands.

The monthly habit in June is drinking water.

Daily reminders (which should also update automatically) are here.

Keep going everyone! Even 2 mins focused effort is better than nothing!

Have a good day everyone!

Ta da:
empty dw
made veal stew at 6am!
tidied up kitchen
walked furry
s & s
two loads washing hung out on terrace to dry
fed wms (note wms not worms Hills!! Grin) again

Oh dear - sorry - I am officially a wombat.

Let me just sort it out ....

OP posts:
Scoopofchaff · 22/06/2018 08:01

OK everyone THESE are the proper links today

Please ignore all previous ones!!

Many apologies for being a twunt!

Baby step no. 22 for Fri 22nd is here. It's about building a control journal. (Some of us do, some of us don't.) It also makes the very good point about not allowing ourselves to procrastinate because of perfectionism!

We are in Zone 4 this week: The Master Bedroom, Bath, Closet (June 17-23). Spend 15 mins a day decluttering this area (and/or do a mission!).

If you are at the stage where you have finished decluttering Zone 4, here is the detailed cleaning list for the boudoir etc.

Friday's mission is: here. Declutter top of main wardrobe.

Friday's daily focus is: cleaning out purses, handbags, cars etc. Oh and it's date night not happening again here, be lucky if dh awake past 9 pm .

The habit for June is: keeping hydrated by drinking lots of water.

A summary of the above (which should update itself daily) can be found in the flight plan here.

It's nearly the weekend fledglings! Hang in there!

SC that is some skill, how the hell did you even find the links for 2017?!?!Shock
and Shhhhh in my head you have a lovely worm composting heap/bin and you are lovingly tending to them by feeding them lovely nutritional stuff so that you can grow all the fabulous veg. Don't spoil the illusion!

Cagliostro · 22/06/2018 09:23

Blimey it’s definitely going to be a two thread month here isn’t it.

I am feeling bleary and horrible, awful night with the baby. Honestly just wanted to cry the second time she woke up (I’d had about an hour’s sleep at that point). Going to try a dummy at night I think, might be too old to take to it now (8 months on Monday!) but worth a try.

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 22/06/2018 09:36

I just nearly cried because i couldnt find the sky remote.....think i have pmt

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/06/2018 13:13

SC I'm told the key is to wrap it and keep couple days before eating.i am not patient enough for that!!
I've tears over lost remotes is a virtually every day thing!!

Tada
Zoolets and watered
Pack ups
Bathroom blitz
School run
Errands in car in town with dp.now time for lunch

lil zoo is at a different school today to attend writing workshop that'd be held by an author.only couple kids her school were invited to go.very exciting!!

Cagliostro · 22/06/2018 13:56

Aw that’s lovely zoo

I’m sitting outside on the grass, we were late home after sports club as an elderly lady had a fall by the shops so we were helping etc

I am so bloody tired. I have bought a dummy. She chewed it and found it funny. Hmm

So much to do today

foxessocks · 22/06/2018 17:24

Well done to your dd zoo that's great!

Today has been as draining as expected. The school visit was lovely tbf but seeing my friend before and during and after was difficult (although obviously far more difficult for her Sad). I didn't worry about what to say and do in the end, I walked up to her , gave her a huge hug , asked her how she was today and then let her just talk and she seemed to really want to talk a lot so I just listened. I was trying to be positive (not that there's anything really for her to be positive about) because I could see she was trying to be but that's the only thing I wasn't sure I got right, maybe I was too upbeat. Also gave her dd a cuddle and chatted to her but that was even more heart breaking Sad (it's her partner who died so the little girls dad , she's four like my dd Sad) she was drawing a picture and I asked what she was drawing she said it's my daddy isn't he lovely? SadSad

Anyway sorry for the downer there ! Also it was so hot on the long walk home and the dc were grumpy and tired (ds has had no nap). Got home looking forward to a cold drink and an ice cream and found dh poorly in bed , I was a bit mean to him actually I was just so tired and wanted his help! I've apologised now. Not his fault he's unwell but argh the timing!

Anyway I've gone on way way too much. Sorry everyone!

foxessocks · 22/06/2018 17:27

I have a tiny ta da list

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/06/2018 17:43

Oh dear foxes is it serious
Glad to hear you handled things with your friend.thats very sad..not the same but it remind me my D's used ride and he had a break after a chest infection and on returning his favourite horse had died.he drew huge amounts of pictures of the horse and lots crosses saying why did you have to die(he was 6 at the time)

Lil zoo had a wonderful time and it's fired up her love of creative writing a treat!

We walked home the long way round and saw wild bunny's and tadpoles.half killed me as was damn hot.was grateful last quarter of walk is in shade or do would've been carrying me!!!!!

Dinner tonight- bread, corned beef and salad raspberry jelly with frozen raspberries lob in before it sets
