If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and wine and cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it June already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore Flylady's barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to her emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

The launch pad is the place from which you can reach most other useful areas of the site: here.

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are at!. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Happy Flying one and all!

Gin not guns Shock

Cagliostro · 01/06/2018 07:28

Guess my post from last night didn't save then Hmm

In short, most welcome for April and May. And I'm similarly glad about the monthly habit. I did quite well for moving in May - not every day but considering health issues etc pretty good and I've really got the workout bug now as I enjoy it. Thankfully Caglets and I all happily drink water, we barely have anything else at home (brace yourself... I don't even drink tea or coffee!). BUT we could certainly do better at drinking more.

Thinking of you sc hope DH is OK today.

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 01/06/2018 07:30

Just crapped myself at a slug in the washing machine

Except it wasnt a slug

It was a slice of pepper Blush

Shannaratiger · 01/06/2018 07:31

Morning all

sc thanks for doing the new thread.
zoo Why I switched off autocorrect.
socks well done on the workout. I really need to restart, I use BodyFitbyAmy on YouTube, the 10 minute low impact is perfect, just need to move off the sofa! Grin

To Do

Wait in for a parcel - Dd's new black school jumpers for years 10 & 11.
Wash Ds's bedding when he gets out of it.
Declutter and vacuum, DH can now do the vacuuming with the Shark so I race around picking up before he vacuums.
Put the last of the washing away - I hate sorting the socks so they get left in a pile until I can face them.

Have a good day everyone.

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 01/06/2018 07:32

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 01/06/2018 07:40

cag! STOP IT! Shes so cute! Look at her serious sleeping face!

zoo we went through a phase of having slug parties here in the early hours (not good for me when ds3 gets up at 330 in middle of their rave) but not seen any for ages now

Cagliostro · 01/06/2018 07:43

Ooh yay it worked (am on phone not iPad and phone is shall we say a bit stroppy)

Welcome pyjamas :)

:o at the pepper slug, I'm sure I have made the same error before!

Sooooo I have news. Sort of. Not sure what I've said on these threads but basically we have been on Band A (for medical reasons) of housing register for over a year now. DH checked at midnight when the weekly bidding closed and we finished second. Good in itself but it was on two houses! So if it's the same family ahead of us on both that means we should be offered whichever one they don't choose. OMG. Needless to say we didn't sleep much as totally wired!

Cagliostro · 01/06/2018 07:45

:o #SorryNotSorry ive

:o at slug rave. Do they have glow sticks? Sympathies though as we used to have them in my childhood home. Shudder.

Mollywobbles82 · 01/06/2018 07:57

I need this, can I join please? I've looked at the fly lady website, the theory seems good but there's a lot of complicated sounding detail. Either way I need some motivation. Clutter-wise things are not too bad (we've only lived in this house for a year) but I so struggle to keep up with the tedium of cleaning everything.. then cleaning it again.. and again! It's thankless. Work pt, have dd 18m and 33wks pg with number 2.

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 01/06/2018 08:09

Welcome molly Brew

What ho everyone! And arf at slug raves! (Aren't most of them hermaphrodites; the mind boggles!) Grin

A warm welcome to Molly and Pyjamas!

Yo to Blue!

Cag your Cagletini keeps surpassing herself in gorgeousness! And that is FANTASTIC news about new property looming at last!

Thanks for kind words everyone! Dh very tired and off-colour but not an emergency case thank heavens. Doc appt early evening (time chosen by him despite her having several slots available during day) so that he can work on his computer in bed this pm Hmm. I can't stop him working unfortunately however hard I try because it ends in an argument which makes him even more stresssed! Anyway, let's hope they get to the bottom of it this time because this is the third time this has happened. Always in the summer. Always when he is working flat out leading up to summer deadlines (after which everyone disappears).

Very kind of you Toostressy, thank you, but link already prepped for tonight so only a matter of cutting and pasting. Will BBL to do just that!

Sorry for only a few personals; my sil is driving up and house is a pit, cleaner is ill, and I haven't slept! Yargh ... .

On a more positive front: it is finally raining and cool! Yay! So hopefully I can get a few things done ... .

Also, praying dd will be in a reasonable state when she gets back home after her testing night and early exam!

C u later fledglings! TGIF eh?

Goth we have a marauding magpie in town who walks in through the kitchen door (which opens on to terrace and garden) and brazenly steals the dog food and drinks from his water bowl (both placed by kitchen door). It drives the furry wild when he hears the "chink chink chink" of beak on metal! He sets chase but is never fast enough ... Grin

Funny about that Zoo. Water just wallows around in my stomach when I drink it too. I find it very "heavy" especially before lunch. I find hot water or fizzy water much better (but latter probably not very good for you I suppose).

I've your ds3 = future Banksy or Jackson Pollock? Grin

Tidy sorry you had such a rough night. Wishing you energy to get through shopping and swimming!

Waves to Shannara Foxes Cordelia Honu and everyone else I have missed!
