If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and wine and cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it June already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore Flylady's barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to her emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

The launch pad is the place from which you can reach most other useful areas of the site: here.

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are at!. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Happy Flying one and all!

Been up since 4am, ds is being such hard work at the moment, he was awake at 12.30 as well so I've had not a lot of sleep. Got to take him to the doctor's today too as he has a little lump on his willy and it's been red and sore in the last few days too (sorry for tmi there haha!) , so now I'm worried about that too! Argh!!!

Have a lovely picnic sc Cake

Ugh. Awake. Sore throat. Achy.

Really must get on with stuff, otherwise we’ve missed a club for nothing! Normally they would be leaving about now.

Scoopofchaff · 21/06/2018 09:10

Feeling a bit jaded myself this morning. Picked Dgd19 and bf up from airport at 11.30pm and Ring road works on the way back caused massive diversion and ended up driving straight through the City Centre.
Anyway!

Ta da
Feed dog and cat
kitchen Doors, counter and hob
Sweep floor and mop
Dust &Vacuum downstairs
Swish and swipe
Quick tidy bedroom

Back later, off for a pedicure as I've been picking at the varnish 😮 and I'm out tomorrow wearing (hopefully if weather ok) strappy sandles.
Just made myself laugh! The autocorrect kept putting stroppy sandles, perhaps that's more apt with my tiredness today 😂😂
Enjoy the countryside sc and try to be good to yourselves fellow Fledglings!

Cagliostro · 21/06/2018 09:59

Stroppy shoes 😂

Well so far DH has made two phone calls, one lot need to phone us back though (HA left some of the wrong things in the house)

Caglets doing a little home ed to keep them quiet although DD can’t find her English book 🙄 I’ve put the towels back on rinse as they were left in the machine too long 😳 and I’ve decluttered some stuff from the bathroom and the magazine box. Also asked DD about the nail varnish as there was loads, I was expecting to go through bottle by bottle choosing but she just said “meh” and she’s chosen colours for her birthday which I’ll do for her this weekend but after that she is ditching the lot. A lot of it was originally mine but I don’t use it anyway. Progress! She is definitely doing well with the idea of getting rid of lots of stuff.

Cagliostro · 21/06/2018 10:00

Throat better but I now have a tummy ache 😣

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/06/2018 10:49

Up next-door completely clear dining table, scrub and only put back on necessities!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/06/2018 10:50

Up next.whats this door business?!Confused

foxessocks · 21/06/2018 11:27

cag I sympathize with the tummy ache I've had a lot of that this week but I feel a bit better today, quite hungry now which I haven't been for days.

Took ds to the doctor and she is pretty sure the lump is a cyst but has referred him to a pediatrician and they will refer him for an ultrasound apparently. So now I'm more worried even though she said she isn't worried but still ConfusedSad. Apparently the soreness is unrelated though so he now has a cream for that which might at least make him less grumpy . And dh rang and said he did his blood pressure on one of these NHS machines and it is normal but at the "high end and needs to be careful" Shock

Managed to do some food shopping with a really dodgy trolley and ds fell asleep in it and then woke up, cried and demanded that I carry him where he promptly fell asleep on my shoulder so I had to finish the shop steering a broken trolley with one arm Hmm

I'm too tired for all this today!!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/06/2018 11:51

blimey lovely.a morning like that be enough to shatter anyone's nerves!make sure you have at least 10mins with cuppa this pm

Cagliostro · 21/06/2018 12:02

Oh gawd the carrying round the shops. Hard enough with Cagletini now but worse with a toddler💐

DH has just left for work, I think we made decent progress today so it was worth missing the club. Got a drawer to go through later but they have ditched some teddies and we've got a few bags for charity. Need to buy bin bags - really not a good time to run out 🙄

Going to make some lists too, trying to think of exactly what needs storing in the house. I am getting closer to knowing the storage we need! Best warn my bank card 😂

foxessocks · 21/06/2018 12:30

Thanks zoo I'm having a very long lunch break while ds sleeps!

But I must at least attempt to get back into some sort of routine today, despite being very tired I am feeling quite a lot better , just see if I actually fancy any dinner tonight but I ate a proper lunch.

So I'm going to try to do:
Daily routine
Swish and swipe bathroom
Make an easy prawn Thai curry for dinner

That's the bare minimum really!

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/06/2018 13:23

warn bank card I don't think that's wise cag - if we did that when ever hit do it would weep then crumbleGrin

Foxes glad you ate and rested it's silly really but I don't think anyone on this thread properly looks after themselves, yet we run round like blue arsed flies fret if DC ate properly, had naps etc.who does that about us?!

Yo 😎

foxessocks · 21/06/2018 14:24

You're absolutely right zoo and maybe that's what makes us the kind of people to find this thread to start with and find similar minded people...we are striving for perfection all the time but forget about taking some time out for ourselves

Ive! How are you?

foxessocks · 21/06/2018 14:25

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/06/2018 17:12

The day MN bans swearing is the day I stamp all over the threads swearing to provoke them banning me. The whole telling Anyfucker to change her name because some sensitive souls didn't like it was enough to boil the blood of a significant number of members. The headlines would be interesting. MN goes down in a sweary riot... Shock Horror Mums swear on the internet....

It has been a long week. I have shit to do that I don't want to do. Ds needs to go to the doctor with an infected toe that antiseptic cream isn't touching. So mum is going to have to deal with that tomo, she doesn't want to. Don't blame her. Eurgh feet

Zoo I would lose my shit and tell the sods it is their fault if I ended up in hospital, but I fear that is more a reflection of my general rage, tiredness rather than any application of common sense. Ds has just backed away grumbling after he made the mistake of complaining about the size of milk free ice cream lolly thingies

SC enjoy the country

Waves at all the other fledglings

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/06/2018 17:38

hills Grinat swearing

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/06/2018 18:51

Tesco zoo swedish glace brand but soya based so no good for little zoo atm. Sorry. But there is a huge range of stuff in the bigger stores. Waitrose has more flavours of the swedish glace, and Sainsburys is just generally better at the allergy friend food around here.

Next door is outside with their coming up to 1 yr old. The baby speak is driving me bonkers. admittedly I have my own prejudices about baby speak, but the windows are shut and my hearing is driving me bonkers atm

I should be sanding skirting boards. I don't want to. Is it bed time yet?

Scoopofchaff · 21/06/2018 19:08

Well sorry but I am going to swear...

... shite, bollocks and feck (as my Irish rellies would say Grin)

Back in town. Today has not turned out at all as planned.

Basically, we were anticipating sitting by the phone on Mon & Tues next week re: exam results. The school call you on the Monday if you have to re-sit entire year, and a variation on that if you get a call on Tues - this is how it's always been done so far - so basically you don't want to receive any phone call at all over those two days but you are kind of expecting one because only 50% get through. So between today and Mon the plan was to do lots of distracting outdoorsy activity with dd and friends to take their mind off forthcoming hideousness. (And as me and one Italian grandmother are the only ones available during weekdays we sort of volunteered for today/tomorrow.)

Anyway, it was all going well today (in blissful ignorance) until after lunch time when I heard hysterical crying and screaming. DD and friends had received a one line text from their titulaire (form tutor) sent to their entire class saying "Tous les coups de téléphone ont été passés" which basically means "all the telephone calls have been made". No congrats or anything because obviously some in class had failed Sad. Cue hysterical wailing/crying/grabbing for phones (one girl nearly fainting and needing cold water on her face; dd not far behind) and signal very dodgy.

Cue very quick exit and trip back to town with lots of crying in the back of the car.

Cue huddle of hysterical teens in untidy sitting room checking their phones and calling parents telling them to check all phones and messages. Turns out (as far as we know currently) all have passed in that small group apart from one Sad - one of my dd's bbfs whom she has known since she was 7 yrs. Really really awful for girl concerned. And difficult situation because others wanted to shout and dance around but obviously didn't do so in front of friend. Cue more sobbing and really awful fear from girl who needed a lot of comfort because her parents are very demanding about academic performance Sad.

Turns out system is different this year and dd's class was first up for consideration. I don't know how I managed to miss this important info either??

Jesus, Mary and Joseph I need a large drink.

Even the dog has had enough and has gone to hide under the ironing pile.

Confused
