June's arrived too soon! Catch up with the Fledgling Fly thread ... .

If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and wine and cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it June already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore Flylady's barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to her emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

The launch pad is the place from which you can reach most other useful areas of the site: here.

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are at!. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Happy Flying one and all!

Grin at all your link posts SC. foxes, I can understand how frustrating it was to find your DH in bed! It seems good (for want of a better word) that your friend’s DC was drawing her dad, it is a way to keep connected and keep memories.

Ive, ooooh I keep thinking about the organised mum method but the boot camp seems unachievable. You must stay with us on this thread though! You need to google it zoo.

It seems a few people need soothing Brew or Wine so I will stock the bar up.

So the work days are done, I have loads of paperwork etc to sort out but am giving myself the night off Smile. Am collapsed on the sofa with the telly and thoroughly enjoying it after a hard few days.

Cagliostro · 22/06/2018 21:47

ta da
✅sports club went awesomely
✅bought dummy, tried it on baby a bit
✅phoned ambulance and fetched nurse for elderly lady who had a fall, while DH did first aid (instructed by new St. John cadet DD1 :o)
✅DH has done some laundry
✅pretty much booked cleaners and carpet cleaner

Feel utterly wiped out though, achieved nothing in terms of packing really. We just all sat around watching crap TV, waste of a day 😖

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/06/2018 21:54

Cag, you didn’t waste the day, you helped someone and achieved other things Flowers.

Honu · 22/06/2018 23:14

Respect Ive. I looked a week ago and took fright.

HillsBesideTheSea · 22/06/2018 23:44

I am teaching ds to make mini toad in the holes. He has a recipe book and ingrediants. What could possibly go wrong ignores fact it is nearly midnight also ignores fact we have made it milk free so god knows how it is going to turn out

Ta da
go ask lots of technical and annoying question of tech people. They did well but did admit that they weren't the standard
go on a road trip (3hr round trip) to deliver post and birthday presents
eat crunchy mini toads in holes. edible but not like those made with milk. Might try making them with water. next time

HillsBesideTheSea · 23/06/2018 00:09

Anime recommendations for a young teen who is rather fond of Death Note and Tokyo Goul?

Ds would be most appreciative

Scoopofchaff · 23/06/2018 00:24

Evening all!

Will attempt to post the correct links tonight!

Too tired for personals as it's been a very long day, but will catch up (probably later on in the day) tomorrow.

Hope everyone ok!

Baby step no. 23 for Sat 23rd June is here. Add get back from school/work/evening routine to your daily routines.

Saturday is our last day in Zone 4: The Master Bedroom, Bath, Closet (June 17-23). If you do zone work at weekends that is! Spend 15 mins a day decluttering this area (and/or do a mission!).

If you are at the stage where you have finished decluttering Zone 4, here is the detailed cleaning list for the boudoir etc.

Fyi: our next zone (last of the month!) will be Zone 5: The Living Room, Den, Family Room (June 24-30).

No mission Saturday because it is the weekend! Whey hey!

Saturday's daily focus is: family fun! Not always easy with young 'uns in tow I know!

The habit for June is: keeping hydrated by drinking lots of water.

A summary of the above (which should update itself daily) can be found in the flight plan here.

Enjoy your weekends Fledglings! (Cag - hope it isn't too grim for you!)

Morning all.
Been trying to catch up with threads. Goodness there was a lot to read now 933 posts and we've still got a week to go.

Yesterday wasn't as bad as expected as I went back to my usual job after half an hour. Had two Pimms followed by lots of gin when I got home as I had headache and wanted to sit in garden. DH had cut grass so first one neighbour and then the other mowed theirs. I got pissed off by noise and went to the pub and sat out there. Order my meal and went and told DH I was having mine at the pub he could please his self and his. He thought I was unreasonable about complaining about noise! He knows I have had stressful week. He came home on tail end of it.
Been awake but not getting up yet. Might have another doze. Need to change curtains as too light and waking at 5am. I ache with tiredness. Physically ache. Be back later.

Scoopofchaff · 23/06/2018 08:02

Good morning all!

Hills Arf at moonlit toad-in-hole making! Grin. You've definitely earned a parental dedication award there!

Arf at worrnery too! Grin. (Already have compost heaps x 2, leaf mould cage and manure heap under construction and I intend to grow fertiliser crop of comfrey next year, so why not add wrigglers to the list?! Will name it "Hill's Place". Grin.

Can't help with anime I'm afraid but I'll ask dd!

Zoo that's great about Lil Zoo and writing workshop!

Foxes hope your dh isn't feeling too rotten today. And I am glad to hear that yesterday went as well as these things can. Sounds as though you were a great support to your friend and her DD Flowers.

Hope you had more sleep last night Cag and Star to you and your family for helping elderly lady.

Oh no, are you leaving us for the dark side I've? Grin. I've had a Google and I'm with Honu; looks a bit hard core to me but best of luck with it! Foot spa, fluffy pillows and refreshments will be waiting in naughty corner for your return!

Toostressy glad you got through the difficult work days! Hope you can relax a bit this w/e.

Goth hope end of term madness not too onerous and you are surviving it ok!

Encouraging wing flaps to everyone else!

Feels a bit mean mentioning it when so many are sleep -deprived on here but just had rare lovely straight through sleep until 8 am today. Only marred slightly by conjunctivitis.

Sadly, DD also under par and not able to celebrate exam success as she has period from hell. She spent most of yesterday wrapped up on sofa with hot water bottle and sick bucket Sad.

To do list as long as my arm, so had better get on with it!

Oh yes, one local snippet of news from yesterday. Spoke to neighbour last night who had volunteered on end of term school trip (primary school). Coach turned up at local (really excellent) zoo but was forced to sit in car park for nearly two hrs with all DC inside. A tiger had escaped, was roaming about, and ultimately had to be shot ... .

Have a good Saturday everyone!

Morning all

Good news of morning csection friend and baby are doing well Grin

Cagliostro · 23/06/2018 09:19

Ah that’s good ive :) I’ll have a look at the boot camp but I think I will be too scared! As long as you don’t leave us though :o

Not sure on the anime hills as I tend to stick to films. I think Attack on Titan probably has a higher age rating (can’t remember how old your DS is) also my DSD enjoyed Blue Exorcist and Assassination Classroom, but again not sure on age rating or content TBH.

I am so tired. Baby woke at 1 again but at least this time she had been in bed since 10 so I got a few hours Hmm

New house being cleaned on Wednesday, carpet cleaners in on Thursday! I think a good first step of moving after that would be to move over all the filled boxes we already have TBH. Not entirely sure where we’d put them, but it would free up a lot of space here.

I need to wash the 0-3m baby clothes today and pack it all up for DN. DS is going off to ballroom with DH and DD so he can help carry the bags for charity!

Bowerbird5 · 23/06/2018 09:24

Waves back😄

Poor DD. I was just thinking this week the one joy about being older is no periods.

Foxes I missed post about your friend but gather she has lost her DH/ partner. How awful. Badger's Parting Gifts is a very sad but lovely book for her DC if you wanted to give something. I have it in my bereavement collection. We have had quite a lot of children who have lost parents. I am sure if there are statistics on this we would be in the high end. All but two have been sudden deaths. The parent often sends the child to school but it isn't really the right place for them in the first few days as they are in deep shock. They usually come to me. I have had children so shocked that they cannot speak. Two found the parent how awful must that be for a young child. I struggle not to cry for them. Just being there for them will be a comfort. Maybe offer to do a shop as I know people who haven't wanted to go out for fear of meeting people.
SC great news about exam results, pity about friend.
I've you not going to leave us are you. More fun here. I'm off to have a look though. I need a kick up the backside again. Dining room and hall full of clutter to sort. At least now I should be able to get rid of paperwork from school from last couple of years. Will need to check first but then hopefully the shredder will be my friend. Might spend some of lunchtime at school doing that. I have 8 bags of school related stuff in the hall and two in the car. My job is changing next year so I hope I can get rid and start again trouble is I have files of good resources. Might rely on ditch and Google!

Cags how is the house move coming on did you manage to get back to measure up? You lot have been so busy I lost where I was up to. I have gone back a couple of pages but didn't see if you managed a second look. Don't beat yourself up about not getting things done you are doing marvellously with getting you DC out and about to clubs with DD Caglitini
Hills😄 I've forgotten what I was going to post to you. Laters as they say!
I am off for some breakfast. I have been on here far too long. Feel better for the rest though. Will try and involve DH with cleaning so I can catch up. Wish me luck with that!

Cagliostro · 23/06/2018 09:31

Yep bower we showed the kids, and got much more detailed measurements (for example wall space accounting for the radiators as we couldn’t put furniture in front of them) so the plans are starting to take shape.

I am still wondering how the heck we are going to manage the actual move though!

HillsBesideTheSea · 23/06/2018 09:37

morning.
I have to move shortly because I have an interview. followed by work, followed by oh fuck knows anymore.
My shoulder has slipped out of joint and is causing muscle spasm in my back. Hoping that a hot shower might ease some of the back. I need to leave in about 15min

HillsBesideTheSea · 23/06/2018 09:45

My first thought on reading Organised mum is that she has never encountered Aspies. Work hard on the washing up and smash it? Yep we'd end up with no plates HmmShockGrin.

Hmm
HillsBesideTheSea · 23/06/2018 09:49

Other thought: Dude the sorting through paperwork mountain on my bedroom floor is going to take at least one day on its own. This is never going to work for me. Blush Would work fab for the annual scrub down and polish up before christmas and during summer. Blush

I have to get the paperwork under control. But there is no time in my schedule and no spoons left to do what is essential let alone the extras atm.

Scoopofchaff · 23/06/2018 09:50

Ouch Hill's that doesn't sound good.

Good news about your friend I've! Good luck with interview.

Hope your job will be changing in a good way next year Bowerbird (ie not quite as exhausting)?

Do you have a moving date yet Cag?

OP posts:
foxessocks · 23/06/2018 10:25

Thanks bower for the recommendation and yes unfortunately her dd was there when it happened and saw it all. So very, very hard. Sad

Right. Dh feeling a tiny bit better but has phoned in sick and we've had to cancel our bbq today. Quiet day instead and I'm going to attempt to get back on track with the house as dd didn't even have any shorts or summer dresses to wear today as washing had built up and up.

Ta da
Dishwasher unloaded and loaded
Washing on
Sorted out a query with the bank
Cleaned dds doll which she left at a friend's house and came back really grubby

Ive I also googled it, let us know how you get on please!

foxessocks · 23/06/2018 12:25

Head off to comic club at town library(ment be walk round towns market while little ones there with dd2) then to park after.i really just want to lay down☹️

HillsBesideTheSea · 23/06/2018 14:28

Opps for those who are so and lovely with the Anime, ds has also pointed out it is Manga that he is reading so sugestions for that also greatly appreciated. Can you tell my brain is on strike? Blush

Cagliostro · 23/06/2018 14:50

Oh I haven't a clue about manga really. I barely read at all as it is.

I like an anime called Moribito which may have a manga and I know assassination classroom is a manga too.

Shown mum the house today and she loves it, I feel a lot happier about it having seen it again and also as I've booked the cleaning etc. Getting excited!

But no I've no idea what date we are moving. Or if we need a removal company. Or anything. Aaaaargh

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/06/2018 16:46

Exciting Cag Smile.

Well I managed to be completely disorganised today and was late for something so feel a bit rubbish for that. Has been such a busy week and I just dropped the ball Sad.

DD1 has had a busy start to the weekend and all her friends are apparently exhausted (pictures on Facebook of them falling asleep etc). DD1? Not a chance. Not remotely tired. Just about to get the lego out in the hope of an inside activity while DH starts tea. I kept her off dancing today as thought she’d be too tired but regret that now!

HillsBesideTheSea · 23/06/2018 19:32

We have got to the stage where ds is volunteering to help cook tea without being asked. This might have something to do with the lecture about being a part of the house hold and he can act like one. So help with chores he likes with no fuss and argument or he gets the ones that one likes such as bathroom cleaning and bin emptying.

He took great delight in telling me that he made himself pancakes for breakfast. And even did a pretty reasonable job of clearing up after himself Shock Grin

ta da
interview - which went well.
work
decorating prep
errands
A master piece tea that has left quietness during the eating Wink only a master piece because ds artfully arranged it on the plate

Going to be honest I am so tired that I feel like I can sleep for a month, never mind a week. I am reading all the things, but my brain is remembering none of the things and somethings I am just trying not to hop about on my ass due to foot in mouth syndrome rather than there not being any sympathy for the situation. Just know that my silence and lack of personals is not because I don't care, just that I am not optional functioning atm. Sorry.
