June's arrived too soon! Catch up with the Fledgling Fly thread ... .

If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and wine and cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it June already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore Flylady's barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to her emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

The launch pad is the place from which you can reach most other useful areas of the site: here.

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are at!. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Happy Flying one and all!

Just thinking about getting up.
Need to do last bit of sitting room which looks extremely tidy. Mags to put away that is it. Water plants in greenhouse. It rained twice yesterday so don't need to water plants outside. Sort sink area( went to bed without shining😱 And put away cake pans that I left to air dry. Should make a cake for today. Mass, choir then get ready for back to school and early night. Anything else will be a bonus.

zoo can lilzoo not get away with none school shoes for last few weeks. So many at our school seem to be wearing brightly coloured trainers, or brown boots etc. They have clearly gone a bit lax! I remember few years ago no boots were allowed at all even in winter

Nope not here. Ds is trained to feed himself. He is 13 he is capable. Sometimes he doesn't want to eat what everyone else is having so he cooks his own then, some times he cooks for everyone.

Now if only I could convince him to help with the laundry more often...

Ah a 2 thread month is fine I was expecting May to get that way tbh.

The exertions of the week are starting to catch up with me. Starting to feel like I have lead legs and have been hit by a brick, breathing is hard. Anyone for a massive flare? No me neither, guess I am going to have to suck it up buttercup. At least we had fun.

Now to deal with that to do list plus my room where something has just fallen over Hmm but first coffee. And toast with marmite

I took it with us on holiday, much to ds' disgust. He refuses to believe that it is good for people. Grin It was a low effort food trip. mostly porridge pots and sandwiches and cereal. It made the few times we ate out really special.

Ds is still asleep Grin he is one tired bunny, plus I was mean and made him get up earlier than he would normally for school on one of the holiday days. It took a while for him to forgive me GrinGrin

I've started my first babystep! Polishing sink!
I did it last night before I went to bed (quite easy as new kitchen) and was lovely to behold this a.m. but I can't keep it up after every sink use!!
I'm in my sink about a million times a day!😂😂 I'll end up with soggy tea towels all over the place.
So I've decided! Quick dishcloth wipe after every use and polish every night.
Hope that will do, fellow Fly people! (Btw! What do we call ourselves) 😁

Honky, Flyladt calls us Flybabies (and the children are Flykids) but I think we usually call ourselves fledglings although some of the people that have been on here longer may know other names. I gave up on Flylady’s shiny sink method I’m afraid. I couldn’t keep it up and was setting myself up for constant failure Grin.

Ta da:-
DD2 back from party
Nice day out to a national trust place with DH and DD1
Both back now and the arguing started within about 2 minutes so have told them to sit and rest with a bit of telly
Have stayed off MN except threads I’m on and left a couple of threads as was getting sucked in. The time I waste on here is appalling (not on this thread but on mindless scrolling type stuff) so really have got to improve.
Laundry under control
Found PE bags for school tomorrow

To do:-
Wash sun hats so they are clean
Make tea (spag bol as we have the sauce already made in the freezer)

Later:-
Attempt early ish bedtime
Sort school paperwork and bags for tomorrow

I can’t shine my sink as it’s a horrible yellowy plastic crap one that wouldn’t shine if you put a million coats of Teflon on it :( although that does make me think of yet another thing that might be good if we move... potentially new steel kitchen sink maybe? A small detail but it would make me happy :o

Had a lovely meal out with friend and then played Dice Forge (fabulous board game even if I’ve not won it yet). Need to stick another wash on really but DS is super stimmy and bouncy and I don’t actually dare leave Cagletini in his care even for a few seconds (DD is playing out), so it will have to wait.

Will be getting a proper high chair in the new house which will provide somewhere to shove her briefly. We only have a booster chair here as no space for a proper one, and it’s not safe to leave her.

honky the story behind the fledglings is that there was a very long running flying thread on MN. It was hard for newbies to really get to grips with the system sometimes so some helpful soles set up the fledglings threads as a hand holding approach to flying. Both threads ran concurrent for a while, eventually the long running thread came to an end. Others tried to set up their own flying thread as they did not like the fledglings thread because they thought it was too clicky. They too eventually came to an end. We have gained flyers from both threads but our origins are different to both iyswim. I found the original flying thread difficult to follow, but have thoroughly enjoyed the fledglings. There are still originals about, there are many who are long termers who have joined along the way. Part of the appeal of the fledglings is that we know life happens and we hand hold and go off topic so it is more than just flying.

We were not flybabies because we objected to twee and tbh there is a lot of twee on the site that I avoid. Fledglings was what was decided on because like baby birds were were learning to fly.

Here endth the lecture on the origins of the fledglings.

Tbf the story of the origins on why flylady got nicknamed the fat fairy around these parts (prior to the fairy image on the website) is more amusing. Although I do find it amusing that when flylady updated her site a good few years ago she adopted the fairy image.
