Or try to anyway!

All welcome! I am struggling to stay awake so I’ll do the proper thread stuff tomorrow, but if you’d like some encouragement and chat while you get your house sorted then this is the place for you. We follow flylady in a delightfully lax sort of fashion.

Special thanks to zoo for the title idea 💐 😘

Yes, tbh, once you have a child I don't think you are ever fully "you" ever again in the same way ... . You do get your mo-jo back a bit once you are through the most testing teenage yrs apparently, so some of my older friends tell me anyway! And from my current experience, I think it is important to try and focus a bit more on yourself during teenage yrs when they "turn on you" rather, to try and keep up your own morale ifyswim so the negativity and angst can wash off your back a bit or it can wear you down!

Pentecost long w/e here. Meant to be at wreck2 but I am sitting here with a white faced DD clutching a sick bucket so dh has gone alone. Poor DD has gone from having only one day totally recoverered from flu/stomach virus to suffering from excruciatingly painful period. Pain was so bad yesterday she threw up and had to lie down or she would have passed out at one point. She desperately wants to be back at school tomorrow because of looking exams so here's hoping.

On a positive note, being confined to barracks meant that yesterday I completed the following:

cleaned kitchen bin (again)
rubbish and recycling ready for tonight
4 x loads of washing
distributed ironing mound between named laundry paniers

  • one for house sorted seeds found missing paperwork made soup from load of veg in fridge drawer translated long letter + fact sheet from Eng to Fr washed out two kitchen implement jars and ran all implements through dw

Today has started extremely slowly ...

foxessocks · 21/05/2018 11:37

Thanks I've will attempt to get up off my lardy arse now ... .

foxessocks · 21/05/2018 12:04

Ds is not sleeping well at the moment. He keeps waking at 3 or 4 am and shouting for milk, won't have water just screams. It's getting frustrating now. Especially as he is meant to be having a sleepover at mils at the weekend not sure if I can leave him if he's going to be like this.

I'm going to do a power hour.

-> for myself and anyone who needs it!

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/05/2018 12:12

foxes to be honest he will probably sleep like a lamb so that MIL will wonder what on earth you are on about wrt him not sleeping. Tis usually the way.

I am supposed to be working from home for completing a project. I have no mojo, waiting for the GP to call because you know the minute I step foot outside the house to go get chocolate he will call. Thankfully no one cares when I work on this project as long as it is done before the deadline as I am doing overtime anyway. So as long as it gets done and I am not ridiculous with the timesheet hours I could leave it until between 1am and 3am when ds typically has me up at the moment. Hmm

foxessocks · 21/05/2018 13:28

You're probably right hills! Hope the gp calls you soon so you can fetch much needed chocolate supplies! I bought some treats for the dc earlier and they are calling to me...

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 21/05/2018 13:50

Unsure if i have swapped sons with you foxes as mine is sleeping much better!

foxessocks · 21/05/2018 15:56

Ive Grin

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/05/2018 16:02

Well the phone happened eventually but I am now chasing up the phone company for a fault on both the phone line and the internet Hmm
Ds can have his sleep meds back but needs a pead review which is fair enough he is due one anyway.

I didn't fancy chocolate by the time I got out, I have made the grown up decision to have ice cream for tea. Blush like i said comfort food/party food in the naughty corner I am ready to crash and sleep for the night but waiting for the kitchen to become accessible so that I can make rice pudding for ds for tea - his throat is bad again Hmm

I have done no work today, no focus so will have to hustle tomo. I have had to make peace with pottering and doing other things. It will make the rest of the week busier but not impossible and a rest/good night's sleep will make that all easier anyway.

Hope you have good evenings!
I am off for a nap.

GoingGoingGoth · 21/05/2018 17:12

I lost my housework momentum / got distracted by DH. He wanted to go into town to do the posting Pokemon Hunt and as it was nice I thought what the hell and went with him

Updated Ta-dahs
Laundry on
Beds
Breakfasts
Swish & swipe
DD to school
Cleaned ALL the windows, mirrors & pictures
Packed orders
Walked round town - got my 10k steps done
Bought DD new bras - she's at a really self-conscious stage so I'm having to guess the size. Confused "Is it too tight here or here?"
Collected DD
Recycling out
Glass to glass bank

Still To-do
Clean laundry away
Ironing
Moping
Vacuuming including under bed (I read the mission)
Dinner
Washing up

Saltcrust · 21/05/2018 17:13

It is a lovely day but very humid here and I feel like I am dragging myself through treacle.

Thought I would try to do just three things because that is usually energising; but it hasn't worked today!

However, with the help of the pointy stick, I have forced myself to:

clean kitchen surfaces
td one load laundry
hang up other one outside
sorted more washing
fed wms again
soaked some stained clothing
wrote a list of parcels/cards (upcoming) that need to be tackled
filled dw
did some washing up by hand
nipped out for eggs and milk
sorted out some admin
and went through chemical formulas with dd who is still suffering rather

To do:
sort load of post
polish dh shoes
cook lamb chops, carrots and cous-cous saad with chickpeas and mint for supper
start on card/parcel list
put boudoir back to rights and clear bed that everyone dumps everything on all over again

foxessocks · 21/05/2018 18:25

My soup was a success for the first time ever both children ate all their soup without constantly asking for more bread (because that's usually the bit they prefer!) . Dd was surprised when I said there was sweet potato and leeks in the soup as she usually won't eat those and has agreed to try them again in "lumpy" form. A win! Ds has been really off his food the last day or two (that and bad sleep makes me think maybe it's his teeth) but he ate it too.

That's the positive of this afternoon. The negative was ds having a huge tantrum on the way to pick dd up and everyone was staring at us Blush

foxessocks · 21/05/2018 18:27

sc humidity is horrible isn't it? I always struggle to be motivated when I'm too hot and humidity gives me a headache. You have still achieved a huge amount though.

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 21/05/2018 18:29

Soup recipe please foxes?

foxessocks · 21/05/2018 18:42

Ive I made it up but this was basically it:
2 leeks
3 carrots
1 sweet potato
Half an onion
Garlic
Mixed dried herbs
About a pint of vegetable stock and maybe half a pint - pint of water (just enough to make it look liquidy enough basically!)
1 tin of green lentils

All veg diced quite small and fried in saucepan until soft ish. Then poured stock and water over. Added lentils. Seasoned. Brought to boil then simmered for half an hour ish. Then blitzed with stick blender. Then I took dd and ds portion out and added chilli to ours for a bit more of a kick. I also added crispy bacon bits to mine and dh (the dc could have had but there wasn't enough and they wouldn't have been bothered either way!).

I think that's about right...it isn't the most appetising colour and dd did ask "why is this so green?" but it tasted lovely!

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/05/2018 21:17

here is one I found earlier... feel free to apply as needed.

Flying Fakers come what May! Come and join the half-arsed Fledglings as we post our To Do and Ta Da lists and get our houses just a tiny bit tidier...
Cagliostro · 21/05/2018 23:22

😂 brilliant
Well today was stunningly unproductive. Tutoring was fine, but got fuck all done in the house bar some superficial tidying and laundry tbh.

However I did play a bit of piano and do some exercise (thanks to my other thread I discovered fitness blender on YouTube) and math hater DD asked about algebra so we did some. Weird day.

Just me and baby tomorrow as the others are on a trip, I'm meeting friends briefly but otherwise at something of a loose end. In a way this means I will get even less done as Cagletini is really unputdownable atm. Not due to screaming but because she is getting mobile and pulling herself up and the house is so not baby friendly 😳 so I can't put her down unsupervised and she won't tolerate being confined in something. I miss the days when I could at least stick her on the floor for a few minutes or sit in a Cafe while she slept in the buggy. Actually maybe this is why I'm feeling the lack of identity more right now? As she is really full on. Sigh. Completely bloody delightful too though of course 😍

On a more positive note I had an idea when working out earlier, that DH could set up another club like sports club but more of a fitness class that parents and kids alike could do together. And it so happened that someone asked on a local group and it turns out that a few other mums would be interested. How to fit it all in is another matter. Even less time at home... But earning money (it's a far better earner than his regular job) and fitness/fresh air are priorities too. Dilemma!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/05/2018 23:31

Cag, a fitness thing that parents and children can do together is an absolutely brilliant idea.

Saltcrust · 22/05/2018 06:34

Morning!

Hope your day slept better last night Foxes. Soup recipe looks really good; will nick!

Cag /Toostressy Also like idea of joint adult-dc fitness classes!

Brew for I've, Zoo, and anyone else who is up... .

Fark. DD is in tears. She was up bright and early for school but she feels too sick to eat something in order to take pain killer (very bad af). Looks like she is going to have to take part of the morning off school at least. Disaster.

Saltcrust · 22/05/2018 06:36

Not day; meant your ds Foxes!

HillsBesideTheSea · 22/05/2018 07:10

Oh heck. Fingers crossed something can be done to help her SC

I am up uncharacteristically early Hmm But I have a lot to do so it is probably a good idea to get it all done and get moving. DOn't want to though.

I tried a new level of vit D yesterday, I feel weirdly discombobulated this morning but almost like sleep was restful which has been a very very long time since that happened. Probably because I wasn't up half the night, but it also didn't take completely for ages to fall asleep and it wasn't that utterly exhaustive crash either. Very odd. Will be interesting to see how it works and I feel tomo.

foxessocks · 22/05/2018 07:12

cag what's fitness blender, any good?

Sc hope dd feels better quickly. Joys of being female. So unfair!
Ds was up 2 or 3 times last night I can't actually remember... definitely at 11 and definitely at 5 but think there might have been another or maybe I dreamt it!! Anyway he did go straight back to sleep both times after a drink and I only gave him one cup of milk and when he asked for more topped it up with water without him noticing so that's something!
