Hello everyone,
Welcome to the Flylady thread for April, where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system with baby steps, missions, daily focuses (foci?!) and decluttering. But more than that, we are a supportive bunch where we share the trials and tribulations of everyday life. We post our to do and ta da lists and chat a whole lot.
Newbies, lurkers and returners always welcome!
Back tonight with links for tomorrow!

Grin Yay! Bloody well done Hills!!!! Grin

Cagliostro · 23/04/2018 22:53

Ah thanks 💐
Feel like my head is screwed on backwards sometimes, this evening I am feeling like a total failure in every way. Even though arguably I’ve managed quite a bit. Gah. I don’t get it. I hate how much I hate myself, as I don’t think it will ever change. I can’t ever be proud of myself for more than a day.

ta da
✅wash on and dry
✅washed and tried out breast pump
✅discovered said breast pump is in fact not spillproof 😳🤦‍♀️
✅ordered Tesco with ideas for baby friendly meals
✅exercise DVD while DH took all 3 Caglets for a walk
✅walked to taekwondo and back and did some extra walking
✅seven bits of home ed 😱 I don’t think we’ve ever ever done that many. Included starting the Scottish play 😉 and researching our scientist ancestor.

Blah.

It went really well! I just need to be super organised in the morning. I need to take a leaf out of Zoo's book and get up in a minute.

I think if I can get a load of washing on, dinner out of the freezer, one cleaning task and the lunches done by 7am then everything will flow smoothly in the morning and I'll have a head start in the evening. We'll see how long that lasts.

I am tired, but happy with how it went. I'll get fit! A lot of walking, a lot of stairs. Smile

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/04/2018 05:51

You can do it callme !!

Ds3 has been up since 430 Hmm So he is already fed changed dressed and ready to go.

I could really do with sweeping the hall today, its very bitty. And i need to phone sky to change the payment date (hopefully) and pick up a few bits of shopping.

Hello all.

DH’s sporting thing went great thanks and we have a nice time away. Back to reality now!

Ta da:-
Unpacked (sort of)
Laundry in progress
Stuff ready for school pick up
Stuff ready for wrapping for presents and for DDs to pick to give as presents as we have 3 parties this weekend

To do:-
Tidy away living room as I got SMA stuff out of cupboard of doom (still sadly a cupboard of doom),
Pick up DDs
Then we have a thing at school then back home for homework etc.

Well done on kitchen Hills and on job Callme. Definitely sounds worth speaking to school zoo. Sorry to hear you still feel rubbish SC, must be so frustrating.

A big welcome to Plower and big wing flaps to everyone else.

foxessocks · 24/04/2018 13:40

Does anyone have memory boxes for their kids? Was thinking of getting something to put each of their drawings, a few baby clothes , cards we've kept...not sure though as presumably at some point the box will get full and then what will I end up with boxes and boxes of stuff when they are 18 or something?!

Ta da
Clothes pile put away (mostly)
15 minutes decluttering under the bed storage box but didn't get far with it just came to the conclusion I need more boxes Hmm, also put big winter jumpers away under the bed too.

To do
Swish and swipe downstairs loo
Online food shop
Hang washing out
Dinner later is cumin ginger and lime baked cod probably with sauteed potatoes and some veg ... hopefully only take half an hour or so to make.

Cagliostro · 24/04/2018 15:12

Sorry I didn’t do links. Felt really down again this morning but decided to walk down to sports club with DH (never bother on Tuesdays as it’s the older kids class) so got exercise and fresh air and chatting time with another mum I’d not met before. So that helped.

I’ve made some notes for a control journal of sorts. Just stuff that needs to be done every day. I really think I’ll need to set a load of alarms on my iPad to get it done. :(

Need to work out what time to leave for tap. Baby just fell asleep. 🤦‍♀️ I’m sure I have time to eat some scones though 🤔😳

Talking of scones cag we have just scoffed down cheese ones D's made at school today!

Busy day,dp off he's moving next week so bit shifting stuff one place to new one, shopping and general errands.late lunch(2pm) then school run.need head office put potatoes in oven for parents eve for D's

Dinner tonight- jacket potatoes with tuna/cheese with broccoli, carrots and cauliflower

Hills no diagnosis.where do we start?school?gp?

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/04/2018 16:22

Wtf.need put potatoes in the oven and head out for parents evening with D's

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/04/2018 18:05

it appears to depend on the area a little bit. We went through GP but in other areas it HAS to go through school. Not sure tbh. Both might be a good approach as school will need to contribute to any diagnosis
.

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/04/2018 18:06

Oh and be prepared for a good battle often the kids save the issues til when they get home and school sees little of it.

Cagliostro · 24/04/2018 21:08

Yes that was our issue hills when the Caglets were at school. Especially DD who was always super compliant and would just unleash it all on me as soon as she left the school. Never once did they agree anything was wrong.

I think school first to see what they say. Not sure how it works in secondary level but certainly the kids I know who were diagnosed while still attending school had an educational psychologist/speech therapist visit them at infant/junior. Also we hit a snag when the paediatrician found out they were HE as we had to get the opinion of a teacher, so the process really does seem to involve school. (As an aside she said they were having to redesign policies to allow for kids not having a school, as they were getting so many more HE kids through their door because their needs made school too much to cope with :( as it is I’d say about 90% of their HE friends have ASD or related)

You may find the school already have an opinion on what is going on with her. It’s also a common theme among friends that school didn’t communicate with parents about assessments, suspected issues etc. Including some who had actually been diagnosed with dyslexia and never telling parents! As it is, we bumped into DS’ old nursery teacher shortly after his diagnosis, and basically her reaction indicated that they had suspicions back then. Which they never ever mentioned. FFS. He went to that school for 2.5 years.

Sorry my post has been more ranty than helpful. Somewhat coloured by our experience. But anyway I do think approaching the school first is the safest option. Unfortunately things like exam stress can exacerbate ASD issues so it’s really important she gets support in place.

Big hugs. I know it’s not easy to think about this stuff. Xx

GoingGoingGoth · 24/04/2018 22:33

Foxes we have a memory box not particularly for DD but her first hat, jacket & booties are in there (she was prem they were the only thing that fitted) plus first proper shoes & other stuff.

It's also got concert tickets, that kind of thing. Goes back years.

Just going to bed, so will do links as we may be in a rush tomorrow. Seeing a horrible histories show! Yay! DH is off work so he’s going to take the baby for a walk. It’s only an hour so as long as I feed her first she will be fine.

She will be six months old tomorrow 😱😱😱😱😱

ta da
✅sorted out breast pump and cup into steriliser
✅yummy lunch for me and baby (mackerel and asparagus - she is really loving food it’s so fun to see 😍)
✅got exercise and fresh air by walking to sports club
✅tap class (ignoring the fact we had McDonald’s after)
✅made arrangements for tomorrow
✅DH did washing up and laundry, I haven’t moved it on though. Need to get that done tomorrow
✅dealt with meltdown/worries from DS a couple of times, he is struggling today
✅remembered to use my medicinal mouthwash thingy (been somewhat neglecting myself)
✅5 bits of home ed. Managed to catch up fairly well after being out in the morning. If we can keep this pace up I will be really pleased, it bodes well for the future (I’m hoping that we will be settled in new house by September, and as we will have more space we can have a proper learning area and can continue adding in more work).

Bedtime!
