Welcome to the Flylady thread for April, where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system with baby steps, missions, daily focuses (foci?!) and decluttering. But more than that, we are a supportive bunch where we share the trials and tribulations of everyday life. We post our to do and ta da lists and chat a whole lot.

Dcs school friends that should say

First time DD’s school friend came back to ours she looked around at the top of the stairs and said “where’s the rest of your house?” 😳😳😳

It’s been a really useless day here. Done fuck all. Spent the evening in bed with the baby but instead of sleeping I’ve been faffing about online like the idiot I am.

I just know their friends won't live the way we do(cluttered chaos) and I worry they will get picked on or shunned/shamed for it,esp now older and other kids can be downright nasty bitchy
I trying get my act together.hoping to get paint this week to redo girls room and dd1 fiancee has been told by dd1 he's put up shelves etc once it's done.thats one room down.....

I missed an important part of the sugar soap instructions. The part where you have to rinse down the surface ...

So everything that was clean and went away need to come out and the cupboards rinsed down an re dried but that can bloody wait until tomo!.
I have 3 top cupboards to do the inside of and 3 bottom cupboards to do inside and outside of. Contents of all need doing as well. Everything else has been cleaned to within an inch of its life... Except it all needs a nice clean bath before use so. yeah.

Fluffy cushions and blankie in the corner for one please!

We have lots of space. But theres also lots of stuff. And dd does not help at all because she is constantly moving stuff around the house.

Ds3 up at 5 again. Dd has been in our bed last two nights. I am tired.

I want to get some shelves this week and get them up in the dcs rooms. Ive still not finished sorting dds room out.

God knows what dd's friends think of our house!! But as DD is an only (and I feel constantly guilty about that) one day I found myself saying the words "feel free to invite friends back any time," which basically means I am permanently embarrassed/caught on the hop/dying a thousand deaths!! . Only saving grace is that the average 14/15 yr old is hopefully not that bothered about the state of one's storage or lack thereof!!

Got back yesterday, emptied bags did two wm loads + sorted bathroom cupboard and mantelpiece. For various logistical reasons DH and DD back this pm so need to crack on now and profit from empty house ... . Need a list!

To do over Sun & Mon:
fold red washing
carry up washed and ironed clothes (giving fulsome thanks to cleaner/pet sitter in my absence)
empty DW
clean kitchen
make soup/chick pea curry-esque thing
thoroughly clean and organise fridge
clear dining room tables
try on new clothes and pack/RTN if don't fit
banking
on-line shopping
empty dead flowers/wash out vases
DD washing for school trip
wash DH shirts
polish DH & DD shoes
wash sofa covers
change bathroom and sitting room linen inner curtains
put books away (where?!! ) in playroom/sitting room
sort linen for overnight guest
polish mantelpiece and mirror bathroom
sort boudoir (remove crapola piled up spare bed, clear top of DH chest, put clean clothes away!)

clear home office desk
empty a couple of BRC
change DD bed
change our bed
make up guest bed

Damn clock stopped and dd2 was cajoling me watch TV with her.by time realised it had stuck at 10.30 was near 1230!!

Welcome back sc I was just thinking yesterday if you were due back yet! Thanks for offer of help, should be ok hopefully but good to know I can ask 💐 am happy to do May as well - making up for lost time as before this I can’t have done any month for at least a year (as morning sickness with its resultant reading related nausea was kicking in by the end of March) and from June onwards we may well be in full on holyshitweactuallyhavetomovehouse mode. So May could be my last chance for a while again and it means I could do my bit, if nobody minds?

Appropriate to here remind you all that April’s habit of the month is in fact... making your bed :o
I don’t actually tend to make beds if I’m honest but I do really like this quote: Every room has its own shiny sink. In the bedroom; it is your bed. ~ FlyLady I’ll definitely have a think about that idea.
Daily focus is renewing your spirit, do something nice for yourself!
No missions as it’s the weekend but we are presumably moving into zone 3 - bathroom plus an extra room.

Just realised it’s a lovely family friend’s birthday, must send a message (and organise a card for her to come home to, she’s on holiday). Tired this morning but feeling slightly more motivated. Yesterday was just awful mood wise. TMI but I’ve had a proper period at last (was just monthly spotting since Cagletini was 3m) which is a relief but 8 flipping days it lasted! And the hormones and cramps have been horrendous.

Anyway must sort laundry and then I hope I can do some general decluttering etc. I’m also aware not to expect too much though due to the way Sundays are; DD1 will be playing out and there’s nobody to hold the baby (DS is always willing to cuddle her but I can’t leave them unsupervised as he’s so clumsy, impulsive and unaware of his own strength, he wants to play with her and would never manage just sitting still with her). So I’ll just expect the bare minimum. And I can hear Cagletini getting grumpy so looks like even that will have to wait! I shall delegate the rest to DH until he leaves for work.

Yesterday’s minimal achievements:

I am trying to stay away from screens as much as possible (yes, I know, I can hear sceptical laughter bouncing off the walls ) for reasons related to (a) dizziness and (b) the fact that I have less than ten wks to do some serious decluttering! Don't hesitate if you need the odd night off though!

Also I forgot to say DD got her dance exam result back, she got a commended again :o (jive exam) yay! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am sat on the bed feeding the baby again. Sigh

I am really struggling with screens too. I got an app a few weeks ago that you leave running in the background, and it measures how much time you have. It also reminds you every half an hour and you can set your own limit at which point it gets angry at you! It is tricky as sometimes we use it for catch up TV (eg masterchef, have you been watching this year?) which I don’t see as a problem, and some of the Caglets’ learning things are on here too, but there is no denying I spend far far too much time on the iPad. Quite shocking really and I definitely notice it has bad effects on my mood. It will be easier to spend less time when we are back in routine, I hope. 🧐 It’s just too easy to go online while she’s dozing and feeding, and then I get drawn in.

Any particular reason for the 10 week deadline? I know you can do it 💐

10 weeks is between now and start of summer holidays!! Yikes!! Not a full ten either as DD (and hungry friends) at home a lot during revision and exam period.

School holidays I mean - 8/9 wks here!

I’ve managed a teeny tiny amount of decluttering. And here I am online again. Must get off the iPad. And eat chocolate. That’s a fair swap right?

We have been shopping.i ended up in heron,Asda and waitrose.i spent more than I should have but I now have both plenty pack up stuff(fruit,veg,raisins boxes,rolls etc) and baking cupboard supplies

Sorted huge mound laundry into piles
Next load wash in,wash in dryer

Lunch soon-i wanted something bit comforting as grey and chilly here--roasted beef and mash with kale and spring onions
