After a thousand posts our homes are beautiful, decluttered places of harmony and relaxation….. or perhaps not?

We’re still trying to recycle, freecycle, sell our unwanted stuff and most of all clear out our houses, garages and sheds.

It’s easy to get involved, literally get rid of one thing a day and report back for support (and sometimes finger wagging if you’ve ‘accidentally’ bought a load of new clutter!)

Braved the spare room because honestly, it fucking stinks. I threw away a leaking old iced coffee thing, and a bunch of bananas obviously the 'vomit' emoji ...

I'm trying to think of a genius way to use up a ton of brown envelopes we have. Think 100+. We had them for our wedding invites but DH hugely over ordered. I'm hoping I can think of a cheesy way to incorporate them into DS's christening party to get rid of a load I'm also looking for the spare place cards to use as labels for the cake table. But the room is so vile it's hard ra navigate.

I've had success with wardrobe decluttering - the following in the car ready for the charity shop Monday-
1 jacket
2 jumpers
2 blouses
1 dress
7 tops
2 scarves
4 trousers
1 pair shoes
6 t shirts

In the bin - 1 pair of shoes

eBay - 2 pairs of jeans, 1 skirt, 1 dress, 1 top

Going to spend half an hour sorting out the spare room/office

Tonight I will be decluttering a Chinese and some beer

And babies are horrid aren't they Emen! Coughing in your face and giving you diseases DS has given me many a cold.

Amazing progress everyone. I am really jealous of tutu's three bags - especially as I seem to be sorting through little bits at the moment and not clearing much.

Last week I almost cleared the table I'm sitting at but in front of me I can see a stray paperclip, dd2s badge, a piece of lego, a plastic folder, some stamps. These bits just seem to get everywhere. I have also put four camera memory sticks in a box wth a USB stick and found a box for loyalty cards - I have thousands. I have also found lots of keys and I'm putting those away. I have no idea where these keys come from. I might throw them away but am slightly scared of doing that.

I have also gone through my sideboard and put a couple of bottle stoppers into the charity pile. I thought I'd finished the dining room at Christmas but I've also found some table confetti, three buttons, used batteries and lightbulbs (these can be recycled) and a broken clock we had in a party bag. We seem to have these things everywhere - buttons, batteries, memory sticks, small coins, paperclips and I am determined to find homes for them all.

Agree that kids are all just balls of germs with their snotty noses, sweaty hands, sicky breath and bloody cute faces that make us look after them anyway!

Cashew at least you've got rid of the source. Just keep the windows open and door shut for a bit to air out the room and then you can go back in and get to work with a fresh smelling room.

Ds has lots of health problems inc IBD- colitis
Hes got pain right side and nobody knows why.
If pref like a scan to rule out appendicitis but that's not goimg to happen
Bloods at the very least but they are reluctant as he looks ok.
Ds is very resilient amd gets on with it but he was screaming with pain.

Stealth I'm the same! I keep keys because I'm certain the day I chuck them I'll need them

Unfortunately Nama it's leaked all in the wardrobe so that's going to need a scrub to get rid of the ugh ... juices. Then the room should smell lovely! So as soon as DS goes to bed I'll be cracking on with that.

I'm actually really angry about the weather for next week. I've bullied my mum into looking after DS while I attack the trees on Tuesday, but it's meant to be raining heavily. So probably not chainsaw weather!

I REALLY want to declutter a pizza from dominos now ... but I have so much food to declutter!

I've also been on a long walk today so have decluttered several pounds of fat!! That's what I reckon anyway.

That's a relief Lost! Hopefully as soon as he's on the antibiotics he'll start feeling a lot better. It's been bleached. I'll ignore the fact that in a moment of stupidity I realised all I had left was novelty christmas bleach, so now it smells like chlorinated mulled wine in there.

Sand :) of course that counts.

DS is in bed so I feel like I should be getting on with some house bits. I've spent an hour writing, played with my new robot confetti templates, and decluttered the last of the frozen advocado for dinner. So I REALLY have no excuse now. The more I declutter and tidy, the more likely I am to find those place cards.

We did another tip run and got rid of the old back door and another car full of rubbish.
We then came home and jet washed the patio and DH painted around the windows.

Today's item: pair of old painting jeans.
Yesterday: pair of DH old shorts. Very wide and long. Old-fashioned looking.

I haven't been great at the decluttering but determined to get to it, once I get up I'm going to spend 10 mins tackling the cupboard of doom.

My advice for little bits - I have these boxes with little compartments in - I have one for odd bits like the electric meter thing, memory cards, Allen keys and assorted other bits. Then one for batteries. These are then stored in a plastic drawer unit in my kitchen. (Said plastic drawer unit needs a sort out)

I have decluttered my big smelly bin and bought a small one that hangs on the cupboard door which is emptied every other day.

Nama you shouldn't be sorry I'm regretting my choices. I wish I had leftover pizza for breakfast. That avocado and chicken quesadilla was beyond disappointing.

The spare room still stinks. So I'll be airing that out before I attempt anything else in there.

Have been a bit rubbish the last few days on the decluttering front. Must do better next week.

I have pretty much finished my bathroom. One basket of stuff left to sort and find homes for. Also need to replace the broken blind with the new one I bought about two years ago! Will get DH to help me do that one day in the week.

Today’s plan is to clean the veranda ready for sofa delivery on Tuesday. DH reckons it needs power washing but I’m worried about the tiled floor. We will see!

We had a team of four in yesterday decluttering the weeds in the garden. Looks better but still a bit to go. Never buying a house with a half acre garden again! I find it all totally overwhelming and hate doing it. DH loves it. I am feeling a bit more enthused now though. Might even finish weeding the Rose bed today as I want to plant some lupins and delphiniums in there while I’m feeling enthused about it!

Lost - hope DS is feeling better today. UTIs are not nice. But usually responds quickly to antibiotics.

Brown envelopes: you could use them to make an advent calendar with tiny gifts like stickers, small chocolate coins, old Christmas cards cut up to make jigsaws, little messages....
Pile them into a box or peg up on a Christmas garland.

I shifted about 17kg of stuff out of the house yesterday (Ebay sales!). Slow but steady progress on rest of house.

However, (naughty step??) I scavenged about 400 kg of old wood last week... we will dry it out, chop it up & burn it for heat. Honest.

Cashew - can you give more details about your frozen avocado please? I love avocado but I can never get it right - either rock hard or brown inside

Clutter free I actually think it's pretty good! I get mine from Tesco, but I think Sainsbury's do it too. It's bright green, so I imagine they freeze it when it's perfectly ripe to avoid the yucky brown-ness. You defrost it for about an hour-two hours. I will say it's not as creamy when frozen though. Way more cost effective too, I think it was around £2 a bag.

Was inspired this morning to get bathroom bleached out and bathroom storage sorted.
Chucked a few bottles of old shower stuff away

House smells lovely and clean bleach

Every thing downstairs has been sprayed with the antibac/zoflora mix so really smells wonderful!

Full house is clean. Just washing left which im slowly gettimg through.

Aargh! Can I rant? I will anyway!

Sometimes dh’s lack of logic infuriates me! We planned to clean the veranda. Now my way would be remove everything which he did. Then get a brush and brush the ceiling and walls down to get rid of dust and cobwebs. Then use the power washer. No. Not DH. He moves everything and then can’t wait to use his bloody toy and starts merrily power washing. I go out to see what he is doing and ask has he brushed it all down. No. Not yet. Apparently he will power wash it first and then we can brush down walls and ceiling and then wash again. He doesn’t get why I’m pissed off. He makes everything so bloody complicated! I can get in and brush it all as it’s all wet and dust and stuff will stick. And it needs to be washed twice instead of once! So I’m leaving him to it and I will end up doing it properly tomorrow.

This thread is moving so quickly. You're all doing so well. The pizza looks yummy. I had a very healthy salad last night with not quite ripe avocado (must try frozen). I am too fat for most clothes in my wardrobe. Can either lose a few pounds or throw out all my lovely clothes, prefer the first option.

Having almost cleared this table yesterday it now has a pen, pencil, rubber, plumbers business card, dh's car tax form and £2.30 on it. How does this happen? Can't people see a clear surface and appreciate the clearness of it. Will clear it again and hope they get the message.

Cashew that sounds awful, I would be throwing the wardrobe away, the smell of rotten bananas is just horrible.

Another day of tidying fiddly things because I've been sitting with dds while they do their homework. Found another memory stick which I can put in the newly designated box, another dead lightbulb, some string which I'm tempted to throw away. The main thing I have chucked out is a large cardboard tube that originally had some wall stickers delivered in it for dd1s bedroom.

cider rant away. That would annoy me too.
