Keep on getting rid of one thing a day decluttering challenge!

After a thousand posts our homes are beautiful, decluttered places of harmony and relaxation….. or perhaps not?

We’re still trying to recycle, freecycle, sell our unwanted stuff and most of all clear out our houses, garages and sheds.

It’s easy to get involved, literally get rid of one thing a day and report back for support (and sometimes finger wagging if you’ve ‘accidentally’ bought a load of new clutter!)

Please join us and a warm welcome back to

I always wonder what those outing hobbies are. I think my hobby is decluttering and writing housework lists. I quite like decluttering now.

Really sad but I actually can't wait for my next period to use more of my excess of sanitary stuff after my reorganisation last week.

I have just been in the utility room and found all kinds of odds and sods to chuck out - flat pack instructions , a door handle, various unidentifiable plastic things, plugs from the old days when you had to fit a plug to a new electrical appliance. I might try to recycle them. I also found two metal strips deliberately cut to fit on something, I have no idea what. Have been looking at furniture and the kitchen to see if they were end pieces of anything. I think I've got rid of a carrier bag of stuff and cleared a quarter of cupboard - so it's been a good day after my slow start.

Baubles I hope you're ok and it was just a routine appointment.

Could you chuck out just a little something? Perhaps receipts from your bag? Out of date food in the food cupboard? Holey socks?

Heard from my 'might be a scammer' Ebay seller and I've got a full refund! So, 3 dresses bought on a whim late at night has now turned into zero dress. :)

SandAndSea · 26/04/2018 21:07

*dresses

SandAndSea · 26/04/2018 21:11

Forgot to say, I also threw some more socks out today. I bet you're all glad to know that.

I have also positioned a couple of boxes on the dining room table, ready for clearing out. I'm waiting for that right moment when I will get into the flow.

Namajesty · 26/04/2018 21:44

Cashew imagine a world where women bleed for a three month period (winter) so we could happily hibernate and eat junk food in the cold weather. Instead of CF AF jumping in our pants at random intervalsAngry

Ada I have a secret hobby. (Think knitting - but not knitting as that would be outing) those posters really do think they're one and only don't they Grin

Nothing left the house today not even me. However I have just decluttered some frozen chips and plan to declutter various random bits of meat tomorrow to make freezer space

Eesha · 26/04/2018 22:44

Three giant ikea bags of old clothes went to the charity shop over the last few days. I have my buggy so could manage more than one a day! Why on earth was I keeping all this stuff, I swear about 6 pairs of jeans.....very cathartic to declutter me think...

IHateToCashew · 27/04/2018 08:13

Lost I hope you're feeling alright Sad I remember oh to well how shitty the last bit of pregnancy is. I second Stealth, even if you just open the cupboard and throw away some old expired turmeric, it still counts.

DS was up all night cluster feeding, and I've managed to use up ALL my odd period bits Angry and I'm coming down with tonsillitis as well by the looks of things. So we won't be doing much today and the weekend. Might wander into the room of doom and list a few bits on eBay.

IHateToCashew · 27/04/2018 08:15

Oh Grin. AND I SOLD A PAIR OF PANTS FOR A TENNER. Victory.

ememem84 · 27/04/2018 08:58

I will be decluttering on Tuesday when I take the contents of my work desk back to work. It’s been in my wardrobe since I went on maternity leave in September. So a bag of my books, naice stationary, make up bag and work “emergency bag” (paracetamol, ibruprofen, hairspray, rescue remedy, sewing kit, spare pants and tights, period paraphernalia, perfume etc) will return to the office.

I also plan on making up a box for the car with ds’ things - sun shades, pop up beach tent, picnic blanket rain cover for pram etc. And getting them out of the house.

ememem84 · 27/04/2018 08:58

cashew woohoo!!!

CiderwithBuda · 27/04/2018 09:12

Grin Cashew! And Shock.

LostMyBaubles · 27/04/2018 09:40

Thank you all.

Was for bloods to be done. Im on blood thinning injections and blood wasnt thin enough so they increased dose and had to go back.

Just got phone call to say its thin enough now and can stay on that dose (12,000 units Shock )

Will be chucking some old biscuits out today and start on washing pile.

Cashew!!! Well done!!

Emem very organised! Ive never worked in an office before. Sounds like you've got lots of space there!

Cashew are you breastfeeding?
That's what ive got my heart set on doing this time. 4th times a charm right??

Stealth I need to make a start on my utility room but theres spiders in there. Im petrified of spiders as are my dc

Will be getting hubby to help with in there

StealthNinjaMum · 27/04/2018 10:20

Cashew well done. I am sitting here smiling knowing a complete stranger has sold some knickers on eBay. Hope you start to feel better and can get some rest. were knickers new or second hand?

Baubles - I hope that's good news but didn't really understand what 12,000 units is. Either way I hope you're feeling better in yourself. I didn't see any spiders yesterday fortunately. Dh probably wouldn't like me throwing away some of the utility room stuff even though he wouldn't know what it is so it's something I have to do on my own.

Today I am going to spend 15 minutes in my bedroom (in the drawer of doom I created a couple of weeks ago), 15 minutes in the dining room, 15 minutes filing post and 15 minutes in the utility room generally tidying and decluttering. Just about to set the timer.

OP posts:
PenelopeFlintstone · 27/04/2018 11:30

Oh - Cider was these 'pants' knickers or trousers? I need to know! Grin

IHateToCashew · 27/04/2018 11:36

Used Stealth Grin I listed them as well worn. I think the selling point was owning them since I was sixteen. Had many a period in them too.

Weird. But who am I to dictate what people want to spend money on!

I know Stealth Grin it's bonkers.

LostMyBaubles · 27/04/2018 12:10

Shock that's fantastic!
Ive got a few with holes lol will that increase the value??

Stealth its the dosage of how much I need. Started on 10,000 and blood wasnt thin enough!
Only thing im worried about is with my blood being thin does it increase my risk of pph. I bleed a lot at delivery. Will ask at my next appt.

I have chucked some stuff out of fridge and had a good clean.

Stealth 15mins in each room is something I need to try!

PenelopeFlintstone · 27/04/2018 12:30

Sorry Cashew - I mixed Cashews up with Cider, I must've missed a few posts although I do remember well-worn shoes, and mixed up my 'was' and my 'were' after editing. Confused Congratulations on your sale! I've got about 20 pairs of stripper shoes left by an ex-tenant. I wonder what they'd go for? Grin

CiderwithBuda · 27/04/2018 12:55

They’d probably go for a fortune Penelope!

Clutterfreeintraining · 27/04/2018 13:05

Just a quick check in to report I have dropped off a bag of approx 40 used batteries to the recycle bucket at Aldi this morning. They’ve been hanging around for a very long time and more recently, cluttering up the kitchen worktop.
Now I’m delaying going out to vacuum my car. I either do it now or later this evening...it should be done now but it’s raining and I can’t be arsed!! Got to change the bag in vacuum first too.

StealthNinjaMum · 27/04/2018 13:08

I ended up doing about 90 minutes in total. Lots of running from room to room finding homes for things. I threw away / shredded loads of papers and old instruction manuals and unidentifiable plastic bits. I also found a few books. I have also managed to do the daily housework so the house looks tidy. Obviously there's still lots to do - and I did get a bit disheartened when I looked at a new pile of paperwork in the Room of Doom so I might spend Monday just doing paperwork and dc's artwork.

lost thanks for the explanation, my pregnancies were relatively straightforward, so I don't really understand these things. I hope your delivery goes OK.

15 minutes per room is my favourite approach but I haven't done four in one day before.

Cider - I need to borrow some tattooed legs!! I just looked on ebay and they have sold for over a thousand US dollars when modelled by this long-legged tattooed young woman - several pairs - but often sell for only $30 without her assistance. Grin Have a look everyone - check sold items and then scroll to overseas items.

CiderwithBuda · 27/04/2018 13:34

Grin but Shock at how much they go for!

Not sure I’m brave enough to look!
