Right you horrible lot stop nattering so much nah it wouldn't be fun if you did

So you have wandered into this corner of MN were the fledglings - a long running but very friendly group welcomes newbies and follows the flylady way to try to get decluttered and on top of the boring stuff in order to have more time for the fun other boring but essential stuff

No idea whose turn it was to run the thread this month but here it the thread and we can figure it out from there.

A warm welcome to Ginning

Strong brew Brew for Afresh

Ok it's gone nine o'clock here. The furry has been walked and the long queue at the bakery negotiated. DH and I are trying to flush out the teens with bacon smells. Bacon and egg, or bacon and tomato baguettes for breakfast. (Yes, two of the girls have requested an English style breakfast which dh is rather chuffed about.) Two of them have to be off by 10.00 for various reasons so hope this works!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 04/03/2018 09:00

Ive had about a million brews already
Ds3 slept for about 45 min

Sleepy

10:00done nothing except throw wood on the fire early on and made a cup of tea and brought it back to bed! Gives Hills the pokey stick to poke me out.

Welcome Ginny! Does this mean you like gin😄
We don't all go at hills pace as you can see 😣😚 🔝
Need to get up and dressed and put away clothes from dryer yesterday.
Ta Das yesterday were cleaned most of boudoir need to do clothes and floor. Sanded bedside table ...smug face ! Been thinking about it for ages but couldn't find sander in DH shed. Messy!
Washing, ironing day before. New ironed sheets on bed. Lovely sleeping in them.
Made yummy tea.
Retrieved Christmas set from son2 house as we managed to get out.DH took him to work as no trains running and his car is stuck in snow in behind his house. Roads been cleared 😡😠 ours haven't. Looks like snowplough been through theirs a lot! Put all Christmas plates away till next Xmas.😔
Right going now as going to attempt to drive self to church slowly and carefully at 10.30! Have fun. Loved the snow pony. Wish I had thought of that.

Making cornmeal pancakes. Had a cup of coffee. Contemplating cleaning my home office which has become a dumping ground. 8 year old ds reminds me that we could share the room as he has an office there too. First, pancakes.

Lisette40 · 04/03/2018 10:33

Sorry, he reminds me THAT we share the room. His David Walliams books are everywhere...

FlyingJellyfishInTheAttic · 04/03/2018 10:47

Sorry I haven't been on. Have been doing lots of overtime so Flying not really happened bar organising crafts but overtime = attic done sooner so I guess it counts as flying? I hope everyone is good. I really want to get involved and see how everyone is so will read more in the next few days.

Cagliostro · 04/03/2018 11:05

Welcome ginning!

Steamcloud · 04/03/2018 11:32

Phew they have all left. They are very nice girls actually and I am quite fond of them (two of them insisted on helping me with the clearing up). It's just the shrieking and the loud French rap music that gets to you after a while Grin I sometimes think it would be much nicer for dd if dh and I were 20 yrs younger ... oh well ... .

Dd has gone back to bed to do some study Wink. I have finished cleaning up kitchen and am doing yet more laundry but running out of places to hang it up as it dries so slowly here.

To do:
s&s
clear boudoir bed (that didn't get done yesterday)
more laundry
furry walk 2
more paper shredding

Steamcloud · 04/03/2018 11:33

Nice to see you both FlyingJellyfish and Lisette

Well done re: bedside table Bower

Hope you can have a wee nap Afresh (but I know that's unlikely)

Cagliostro · 04/03/2018 12:18

Nah I wouldn’t worry about that sc a parent is uncool to their teen no matter how young! :o

Steamcloud · 04/03/2018 12:20

That's certainly true Cag Grin It's part of the job description to be an embarrassing parent when your dc are 14 yrs!!

Steamcloud · 04/03/2018 13:37

Ta da:
more washing sorted
two more loads on
dw emptied

Cagliostro · 04/03/2018 13:39

:o

I have done very little today, DH put our clothes away and cleared up everything from yesterday including the stuff that had to be moved for the fridge. So we are caught up a bit at least.

I am now lying on the sofa while the neighbour kids are round, looking forward to the peace and privacy when they go outside again!

We did a bit of planning too. Writing lists of what we need to buy when we move. And making plans to divide up the girl’s bedroom eventually (won’t be necessary immediately since Cagletini will be in with us for at least a year). Does anyone here have ikea kallax? Apparently that’s commonly used as a room divider.

Also, how the actual hell does anyone afford to move house?! 🤔

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/03/2018 14:39

Morning. It was 2 before I crashed last night and despite being alert several times it was 2pm before I decided awake was needed. Feeling crap after yesterday. And will need another day like that tomo. Hmm But the bedroom is almost tiday and I know if I leave it then it will decend into chaos again and dammit I want it tidy! Crap ton of laundry still to do but uniform just needs to be dried so that is all I am doing today. Sunday = day of rest arguing over homework mostly Hmm

Afreshcuppateaplease · 04/03/2018 14:42

We have fair bit of kallax! Its good i like it. We arent using any as dividers though but have seen pictures of that and it looks good. I actually want two more of the 2x2 size.

Dp is being helpful again Angry

Cagliostro · 04/03/2018 15:34

Oh ugh at him 😡

Have you attached it to the wall? It looks quite sturdy to me, but it is a worry that if it’s not against a wall it might be unstable. I think there are little brackets with it but not sure how that would work if perpendicular to the wall.

Also I kept meaning to ask, what age did you put baby DS in the pushchair bit of the cosatto? It says 6m+ I guess as it doesn’t go flat, but I don’t think she’s going to fit in the pram until then, she is below 50th centile as well so not like she’s unusually big 🤔

Afreshcuppateaplease · 04/03/2018 16:06

He was under 6m. I stressed about it. I emailed them and tbh they were not helpful when they have bern otherwise. I think he was just 5 months. I kept the seat tipped back and didnt keep him in it any longer than i would a carseat

Afreshcuppateaplease · 04/03/2018 16:07

Someone on here told me to take out the whole inside padded bit of the carrycot which bought me a couple of weeks but looks bit odd

Afreshcuppateaplease · 04/03/2018 16:24

www.manualslib.com/manual/1291416/Ikea-Kallax.html?page=5#manual

Kallax comes with a metal bracket to fix to the wall end on.

Some of ours are fastened to the wall others are not. Its fairly sturdy but if a child climbed up it it would fall over if not fastened

Cagliostro · 04/03/2018 16:25

Thanks. It’s interesting as lots use a car seat instead of a pram from birth (I did with eldest) and that is not ideal really, I wouldn’t have thought having the pushchair on the most reclined setting would be so bad really. We have a little longer, TBH it’d probably be fine if she wasn’t in a snowsuit as well, if it was warmer she’d be in less padded layers!

I think I’ll feel quite sad when we move on from the pram anyway 😳

Afreshcuppateaplease · 04/03/2018 16:27

I always feel sad at that bit!

Cagliostro · 04/03/2018 16:27

Ooh xpost thanks re kallax too. Didn’t realise the bracket could work in that way :)

Cagliostro · 04/03/2018 16:36

I have never attached furniture to the wall before. I am wary though after all those stories of chests falling on toddlers so definitely want to do that. Do brackets work when there are skirting boards though?

I’ve been so lazy today, DH put a towel wash on earlier and I haven’t even dried it yet. I have instead been browsing ikea and Argos, getting rough ideas for prices of things we will need when we move, and panicking about how the actual fuck we can afford all this in one go.

We will need to figure out flooring too, as the council rip out all carpet before new tenants move in. Just hoping the wood beneath will be ok, I’d actually prefer wooden floors TBH but have to consider if they need sorting before a baby crawls and walks, presumably if they are just basic floorboards they could cause splinters and stuff?

Cagliostro · 04/03/2018 16:43

It’s the only time we have had a proper pram - used the car seat with DD1 (had no idea then that babies shouldn’t be in them so long), and DS had a silver cross which folded from the flat pram type thing into the pushchair. I love this pram so much 😍

Also just realised we will need a high chair soon. As well as a cot (preferably cotbed so it lasts longer) as she won’t fit in her basket much longer, not that she’s been in it since bronchiolitis hit anyway.
