Right you horrible lot stop nattering so much nah it wouldn't be fun if you did

So you have wandered into this corner of MN were the fledglings - a long running but very friendly group welcomes newbies and follows the flylady way to try to get decluttered and on top of the boring stuff in order to have more time for the fun other boring but essential stuff

No idea whose turn it was to run the thread this month but here it the thread and we can figure it out from there.

Bowerbird5 · 17/03/2018 21:01

Ah thank you Stressy what a lovely thing to say.
It is lying now. I need to go out to car brr and lock Henny in. It is bloody freezing here.

FF that sounds like what I had take care.
Zoo next time you need to test them.

Now i am going to have to look.

CotswoldStrife · 17/03/2018 22:47

I love reading about decluttering and organising, I just don't like doing it. I read KonMarie but it doesn't often turn into an actual binbag of stuff as often as it should unlike Fool!

We have snow now, and it was freezing when we were out today. Went to a Science show (Big Bang Science Fair) in Birmingham - really good, we've been a few times now. Tickets are free, but the parking is eye-wateringly expensive.

Tea - takeaway from chip shop, absolutely yummy it was too. Now inhaling chocolate biscuits whilst drooling over the cakes upthread. May have to bake tomorrow may have to make bread if shops struggle with deliveries

Stay warm and safe tonight fledglings, and get as much sleep as you can. Grab an extra blankie and a hot chocolate from the naughty corner for tonight!

Today was a total fuck up. People changing plans. It used so much energy to sort everything for today and then they changed it. I was very tearful. I know I react stronger than most people would due to my own issues but TBH regardless it was, at best, seriously thoughtless of them. These are the relatives I mentioned a few weeks back by the way, they will be moving nearer in a few months, and much as I love them, it is going to be very hard work :(

Anyway. I survived. Tomorrow DH is out again but he’s getting up extra early to get kitchen sorted again, he did the same today. I’ll go out with the Caglets. Couldn’t print my clubcard vouchers though, as I was so cold and worn out after shopping (pointlessly, due to aforementioned change of plans, this is one of the reasons I was so upset) that I couldn’t face the library as well. Anyway we are seeing a film, and then we will eat somewhere anyway. Maybe get some more storage stuff on the way home. Want to pack up some more toys.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 18/03/2018 06:08

cag Brew sorry you had a shit day? It may come to the point you have to say no to these relatives i think!

Our snow is not looking good. My front windows are all pretty covered in the stuff from the wind blowing and i can barely see out. Its due to continue til around 10/11 am

Wow zoo!! You've been busy! I've only just got going...ds keeps waking then going quiet again and dd watching t.v. she is moaning she's hungry now though! Dh has gone to work so I assume roads are all passable although it looks very icy out there to me. Shame because this is the first day I feel I could leave the house as dd totally scabbed over. Another day stuck indoors...argh!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 18/03/2018 07:15

Urgh ive done nothing except feed dc3&4, and make myself two brews

Pointy stick?

Bowerbird5 · 18/03/2018 08:20

Made a brew!

Threw some logs on fire.

Back in bed.

zoo!

Posted last night but it wouldn't post for some reason. It was to thank you Toostressy for those kind words. Today's and last night update was ...whiteout. Yes we are covered in snow. It kept snowing after that post and it was covered within twenty minutes. I am hoping I can get car out. I faced it up hill last night so should be able to. It gets very slippy on our hill and lots from the pub struggle and usually everyone including fit customers and landlord have to push them out. I live at the top so only a little incline. Police Twitter has several A roads in the county closed from last night. I love the fact that our force has Twitter. They post pictures too so it gives you a good idea whether to go out or not. I would be quite happy to stay in but I have surrogate grandson's football match ? , Mass and AGM at choir plus picking up conductor and pianist. I am giving a feedback report at choir so need to go. It might be clear in town anyway.
Pennines are covered. It looks oh so pretty and I don't mind apart from my big toe is complaining.

Cleaning regime today
Dishes, two from last night 😚 and breakfast.
Iron sheet and put away. Fold socks. Going to put the Christmas socks away, sort sock drawer.
Make SPAG bol for tea as I found some soup DH had bought needed eating and left over fish and chips. He usually eats it but it wasn't too bad with chilli sauce.
I will check the cheese I can't remember. There is a guy in the north east that makes the most wonderful vegan cheeses. I will ask DD. We discovered him at a vegan fair in Glasgow. We tried all the cheese samples and his was superior to all the others. Very modest too.

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/03/2018 08:35

Phew bower violife is mass produced...
I would love a pic of your view, sounds beautiful!!
Snowy here
Cold

When is spring coming?

Fed myself and zoolets and sat by fire to warm up

I am putting the --------> out there but be warned it's half hearted so might be more of a very gentle nudge than a prod!!

Bowerbird5 · 18/03/2018 09:06

Thanks I need it still in my cosy bed. I think that technology is beyond me 😁 otherwise I would post back view but not front as too outing. Going to get up now ouch pointy stick in bum cheek. Check fire on as it was almost out. I threw paper, kindling and small logs and opened up so hoping it is on otherwise start from stratch. It was chilly down there this morning hence tea and back to my cosy bed.
Will check on cheese too.

Bowerbird5 · 18/03/2018 09:24

You little beauty. It has burst into life from a few Sparks and cosy isn down here now. Just put more on and roaring away. I love my Charnwood. Our old burner although pretty ( it had two swans on the arched doors) would have been more work to get going think bellows etc.

It is Sainsburys Free From. It does stink if you stick your nose right in to smell it. It was good on the baked potato though and going to try it on SPAG. Bol tonight. DD sells a Parmesan type which is delicious. She sometimes brings some home. I do hanker after cheese sometimes especially Black Dub.😢
Looks like a tractor has been up. I see next doors have moved their cars next to church. He must have done that after I went to bed last night. Might try getting mine out now as I need logs, feed Henny her warm mash and let her out and there is only one van in front from other neighbour. I'll find out how slippy it is too. Hope s. Grandsons match is cancelled. Grandad is on snow plough duties and can't take him and grandma is on patient duty. Uncle incapacitated and daddy and mummy both working. His little face lit up when I said " could I take you?" But it is in a big dip. Will I get car back up hill ?Surely they won't have 6 year olds playing in this? The sky is white looks like more snow. Right coat on venturing out! Brrrr!

foxessocks · 18/03/2018 09:43

Ok I'm officially out of ideas of how to entertain the children! We have been playing board games and puzzles but ds keeps getting bored and ends up throwing the pieces everywhere , can't do it up at the table because he just cries. I don't blame him for being fed up. He has had a boring week. He hates the snow so he won't go outside. I'm contemplating doing some baking but I don't have many ingredients in at the moment. Or maybe some painting but I'm just dreading the mess!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 18/03/2018 09:47

Playdoh foxes? Or do you have any empty boxes? Anything like a tent that is novelty?

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/03/2018 10:18

Make a den?
Decorate paper plates as masks(or circles of paper)
Indoor races(think toys to collect on a box and go back to start)
Obstacle course?
Screw up bits old paper recycling and try throw into a box.
Action rhymes
Dance around to music/can you waddle like a duck and flap wings, gallop like a horse and neigh)

I found be stuck in needed energy burning
Hope I not staring obvious and insulting you foxes

Thanks afresh and zoo- some great ideas - definitely not offended I need new ideas! I haven't done a den yet. Or baking. Think I have some paper plates. We did races yesterday and one of them was race like diferent animals...ds has been waddling like a penguin ever since!Grin

We just did painting which was fun but took me longer to clear up than the took doing it Hmm but we did make a parrot for dd to put on her pirate costume for nursery tomorrow (she is finally going to wear her book day costume!!)

Having some tv now and I'm going to see what I can bake with my limited ingredients.

foxessocks · 18/03/2018 10:47

Steamcloud · 18/03/2018 12:19

Hello all! Just flapping through now visitors have left. Had a really lovely time - hard work intermittently - but house in a bit better state for being "guest ready". Or rather, as "guest ready" as this house ever gets (probably wouldn't be viewed as "guest ready" by regular folk - just very understanding close family!! Wink). It is apparent how quickly since they left and I immediately got a bit slacker how soon mess builds up when you don't clear up immediately and how much effort this house needs to keep it looking half decent.

DH back from punishing trip (7 flights in nine days) and is understandably exhausted so probably unfair of me to point out that having spent a week with close female relatives it was so nice to be with people who actually respond when you say something and actually acknowledge your presence and want to initiate conversation with you. Never noticed this quite so starkly before Sad. Ho hum. Blokes, eh?

Have speed-read thread so not properly up-to-date but sorry to hear about injuries and ongoing illnesses Flowers. Hope everyone recovers quickly.

Foxes you have probably already tried it but dd used to love it when I sat her on a plastic table cloth, and gave her small stainless steel pans with lids, plastic bowls, ladles, ramekins, measuring spoons, sieves etc and armed her with a selection of different sizes of dried pulses/lentils etc and different pasta shapes and rice. Not too bad to clear up if kept dry!!

Otherwise have a look at:

dltk crafts here and educational activities here

Activity village here

And (in French but largely self explanatory) Tete a modeler here - Easter cooking looks fun and check out "bricolage" for Easter craft ideas.

Humungous wing flaps to all!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 18/03/2018 12:45

foxes, also at this point I wouldn’t feel guilty about using a lot of telly etc. Needs must and at the end of the day it will help them to rest and recover. I know it may not help with DS but at least DD might watch. Even if they are bored of telly perhaps you could buy a film or something to fill time in the afternoon / evening.

Also again, may not be practical with chickenpox so perhaps one for the future but I find a long bath can waste a lot of time. Even if you put one in at a time and the other could do something else. My two love having a bath in their swimsuits which apparently makes it loads more exciting!

At in laws so taken the opportunity to go through my phone calendar etc. Having food cooked for us now which is fab. Went out in snow with DD1 and slowly getting warmer. DD2 said it was too cold and didn’t want to go out Smile!
