Right you horrible lot stop nattering so much nah it wouldn't be fun if you did

So you have wandered into this corner of MN were the fledglings - a long running but very friendly group welcomes newbies and follows the flylady way to try to get decluttered and on top of the boring stuff in order to have more time for the fun other boring but essential stuff

No idea whose turn it was to run the thread this month but here it the thread and we can figure it out from there.

Meant to say last night re. interview, enlightening is definitely the word Bower! I know theoretically I can turn it down Cotswold, which is what I was consoling myself with. Practically though, when I think it through I’m not sure if that is a sensible option. I am a HCP in quite a specialist role which means my field is a very small world. I know the majority of my interviewers professionally and it would risk burning bridges to waste their time. But I will think about that if I get offered it. That is probably unlikely to be a problem Grin.

Happy Mother’s Day to all celebrating. Totally agree Cotswold that it should be about all women.

We have planned a nice day here. Now the kids are in school and tbh I do get regular childfree time I am aware I am very lucky. In years gone by I was absolutely desperate for things like Mother’s Day, birthdays as I could hopefully get a lie in and some time in the daytime hours to actually be on my own and regarge my batteries. These days I am much happier to embrace the whole family side of Mother’s Day and let the kids make an mess and jump all over me pamper me.

So DD1 and DH are downstairs making breakfast (croissants) while I lounge in bed Mumsnettting. We will have to play it by ear with DD2 who said she had ear ache last night and is still asleep now. Then DH is off for a long run and I suppose I must force myself to go out for a run too as haven’t gone for weeks.

We have a birthday party later then DD1 has another party straight after that. Need to attempt some more homework too. Did I mention how much I hate homework that DC have no hope of doing themselves Angry? Also have lots of clean laundry everywhere looking for love.

I will enjoy the cocktail later Bower, thank you!

foxessocks · 11/03/2018 08:04

Happy mothers day everybody! afresh I really hope you do get a rest today.

Dd was up at 645 and came charging into our room with cards and a present that she'd chosen herself and had hidden in her room. A nice mug and a teddy and a box of chocolates . Then she went downstairs to make me coffee with the help of dh. Ds not up yet ! He did get up in the night so probably why.

Dh and the dc are making a roast today so I haven't got to do much. I'll stay in bed for a bit I think. Might as well make the most of it!

I delivered my mum a card and box of chocs yesterday so I'll send her a quick message now as well just to say thanks for everything.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/03/2018 08:05

We have had our lovely shiny Mother’s Day breakfast which consisted of the girls fighting over who would drink their juce fastest, both putting a huge amount of jam on their croissants and then getting crumbs everywhere. I have just got the hoover out GrinHmm. On the plus side I do have a cup of coffee.

foxessocks · 11/03/2018 08:36

toostressy Grin same old here too I've just had an argument with a 18 month old about the fact he has to have a nappy on before coming downstairs! He just shouts NO at me and I shout NAPPY back. Every. Single. Day. He is not a morning person. Like his mum! Dh got out of doing said nappy despite mother's day because he was busy putting the lamb in the oven for later ...can't complain about that, my favourite!

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/03/2018 08:42

afresh just remember no matter how Dp/up behaves the DC love you and are excited to give you homemade cards etc
In past I've always got myself a bunch of flowers and just had a bit of one to one time with each of them or gone out together to park/for a walk
No one can ever replace a mum

Afreshcuppateaplease · 11/03/2018 08:58

foxes yet again i wonder if we are parenting the same child! Ds3 hates nappy changes. He cant say no yet. But he shouts angry babble, stamps his feet and shakes his head. At every nappy change. I then have to literally wrestle with him which is most fun during teething poonami!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 11/03/2018 09:00

Ty zoo

Have recieved cards and flowers. Ds2 has now gone into his usual stubborn shouting mood. I cba. Im not entertaining it.

Bowerbird5 · 11/03/2018 10:17

All quiet here bar the phone calls.

9 am clock repairer phones to say clock all finished bar the glass. Taking there tomorrow. He only had it a week ago! 😳 has stripped it all down french polished had a joiner remake a bit missing. Looking at DH ( not here) as he transported it and piece off is now missing. Brass face cleaned and next Thursday should be all finished. He is going to return it and pick up other one. We now have two.have to decide which one is coming here. Other to son's house.
Immediately afterwards DH phones. I was down making tea and that phone not working so legged it up here wheezy to find it was DH not DD. Made tea and opened present from DD so I could tell DH what it was. Cotton bag full of little thoughtful things. Packets of individual teas about eight. Beeswax candle, vitamins☺️ bamboo socks, health snack bars, Booja Booja truffles, halva and chocolate ginger 😄 also a beautiful hand drawn card which I see is her new printed design. She has several styles of cards printed and selling now.

DD - 1
Ds1 -0
Ds2 -0
Ds3 -0
So far! She will be pleased nothing like a bit of sibling rivalry.😄 especially where girl versus boys.😄
They haven't arranged anything so I am going to church and then choir. They usually work giving other mothers a lovely day. Hospitality!
DS 1 hasn't spoken to me since being cross with me a month ago. Re mobile phones and hospital pick up. So shall be interesting. If he doesn't bother I will be upset as first time ever.
Love the sentiments Afresh
It had no alcohol Stressy a breakfast one but you can add some. You might need to later!
Hope there are no Poonarmis to deal with today for toddler mums. Just say - PASS
Have fun even if the coffee is cold and the jam is on the bed. Making memories. My DS 2 brought me in a huge box once when he was about 12 along with other three and breakfast. It was a chip pan! The new version/ deep fat fryer. "So you won't get burnt making our chips!" I'll never forget that

Bowerbird5 · 11/03/2018 10:20

By theway Stressy it is high blood pressure and Consulant booked me in for heart scan. Slight indication on kidney results too which make sense re waterworks. I thought there might be then seemed to right itself. Must make sure I drink more...water! I meant water😁

CotswoldStrife · 11/03/2018 11:18

Happy Mother's Day!

I got breakfast in bed from DH, DD had also made a card in school where they had to draw in a picture - DD drew me in the kitchen!

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/03/2018 13:21

No card here from ds and I bought my own mother's day present it was sneakily chosen so he would spend time with me But I got a lie in and coffee with breakfast in bed. PLus i got to laugh at him when he got killed by the exploding kitten he had just defused. He has wandered off for now but there will be another round later.

CotswoldStrife · 11/03/2018 16:33

I usually get flowers but haven't so far - I don't know if any are ordered or if I'm just not getting any this year. I don't want to appear greedy and ask!

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/03/2018 16:37

Thanks afreshSmile

CotswoldStrife · 11/03/2018 22:41

We went out for a meal tonight but we had the longest wait we've ever had for food! The place was packed but I thought that the chef had walked or something! It was nice when it arrived but what a wait!

Enough of my rambling. It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life - and I'm feeling slightly weak and snotty still but fine This is the week that the house gets kicked in to order and I catch up on stuff. Stop laughing, it may happen Grin

In the meantime, I'll stock the naughty corner with stuff and we'll face the next week together. Zone 3 next week, main bathroom and the other room Flylady is focusing on are the stash and dash areas in the home. Gulp.

Evening all,

I have decided to ban myself from MN on Sundays and enjoy family time without the distraction. I'm allowed to pop on after the DCs have gone to bed and catch up on regular threads, but not to go near Most Active.

Low key Mother's Day here, which is fine, we've had several birthdays recently so we're a bit celebrated out. The DCs bought cards and DH fetched croissants for breakfast in bed, which was nice. Did the weekly food shop with DS, he's really getting into food and cooking at the moment, he has issues with food as a result of autism and issues with motor skills too, so this is a big deal and makes me very happy. Then an evening curled up on the sofa with the DCs crocheting and watching Crufts (I picked the winner to DD's annoyance!).

Flying wise, well, I'm doing the Flylady thing and starting again tomorrow Blush. Thanks for the links Cotswold Flowers.

Cagliostro · 12/03/2018 00:21

Stash and dash areas as the extra zone room? So... the entire house then? 🤔

Good plan who I tend to get lost in MN sometimes, I don’t post nearly so much these days and generally only read and post on this, Frugaleers and Hoarders in full, but that doesn’t always stop me refreshing active and clicking on far too much.

Unproductive here, Mother’s Day was nice, my kids know me too well and bought me a board game and a mug with a Meeple (extra special as this was one of baby’s nicknames in utero 😂). DH was working in the afternoon and I felt quite panicky about taking the three of them out alone. Which is ridiculous as I do that pretty much every day. But we went for a meal as planned, it was quite hard as baby was awake the whole time. Still nice though.

Planning to have an anti procrastination week, there is so much I’ve been putting off. And I really really need to get better at fitting in all these errands, and home ed stuff. So much time just seems to disappear, and it isn’t all just going on baby feeding and changing, I don’t get it! I think I am just inherently inefficient.

So, tomorrow I have a pupil (plus their sibling for a play date) so the Caglets have to help tidy and do their work in the morning. I’ve set a time we have to finish the play date by so I can finally get to baby clinic. We will go to town after and I’ll weigh myself as well (decided to do it on the same day every month or two). And go to Wilko for storage and some stuff for a poster because we WILL do a project this week (a lovely Irish mumsnetter sent some bits over in preparation for st Patrick’s day).

I’ve also arranged with a friend to go get tap shoes for our boys (it’s a few towns away so train journey required) on Tuesday but I will get my ridiculously overdue blood tests done first.

Also need to sort admin for finances, trampolining, ballet show. Book in lessons with other pupils. Go swimming en famille on Wednesday as we promised the Caglets we would once baby had her third jabs.

Today I put a wash on. Didn’t prep maths or spellings for tomorrow. Fail. I’ve been thinking for a while of just printing off worksheets (there’s a great site that generates hundreds of types, with parameters set by you, so fantastic for addition drills etc which is basically what the daily morning maths is) - now that they’re accustomed to doing it and writing on whatever paper we have since half the time they can’t find their bloody books. 🤦‍♀️ Anyway I haven’t even vaguely got the headspace (or physical space) to set up the printer that has been in the corner of the bedroom for months, so I think I’ll just bite the bullet and print a load off at the library. It’s got to be worth £1-2 a week (or free if my friend happens to be behind the desk at the time 😇) in the short term, to take the thinking out of my hands for a bit. It’s THINKING that exhausts me. There is so much to remember. All the time. Mental load and all that crap.

Don’t imagine I’ll be up to cooking after TKD either. I’m getting sick of microwaveable stuff. Might get some Tupperware tomorrow, I was planning to wait until we move and have the lovely new huge fridge freezer, but we do have more space now and pingable home made stuff would be good. Bugger I need to do the shopping online too.

I am taking bets on how long it’ll take me to crash and burn in spectacular fashion. Did I mention I’ve had (blessedly mild but still annoying) labyrinthitis the last few days. 🙄

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/03/2018 04:55

CagFlowers.you have a huge amount of balls in the air and you need a gentle reminder sometimes jugglers drop balls and it's ok.you aren't failing you are chipping away at this has whilst trying to care for the needs of your family and dealing with life in general

Despite being tired I slept lousy and have now accepted defeat and am getting up....

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 12/03/2018 06:10

Thanks for links Cotswold. Cag Flowers. I too am inherently inefficient.

Bower Grin, yes, I immediately assumed that cocktail was alcoholic GrinBlush. Sorry to hear you are not well but glad you are ‘in the system’ with it and have a scan planned etc. if that makes sense.

Stash and dash areas you say Grin?! Well at least I won’t need to look too far to find any of them.

Going to try to stay off MN aside from this thread and a quick browse as you are right Wh0Kn0ws, it is so easy to loose time on it.

I don’t suppose any of you used Olay total effects anti blemish moisturiser? It has been discontinued. I put a thread in style and beauty looking for alternatives but no replies and nothing in a google search Sad.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 12/03/2018 06:54

Morning all

Thanks for links cotswold

Cag i got on to shop and scan!

Ds3 slept til 630 but i still feel bent and stiff and sore

I am really bad at looking after my skin i bought a garnier mousturiser ages ago but only used it for a week Blush

Bowerbird5 · 12/03/2018 07:40

Morning,
Son 2 turned up to take me to local for a three course meal and wine😄 plus bunch of flowers and lovely card.
Son1 had been to house and left card and present not wrapped still in the bags from the shop you have to😃 at lads.

I use Eternal Skincare for face now. I used to use Estée Lauder but it makes my eyes sting if I rub it accidently. This doesn't and seems to absorb well. They do other products. I bought it from a lass at a local show and it lasts ages. I don't put it on every day cos a bit like Afresh I am not all that good. I was for years and it paid off but I should be now and not😕
Agree about Mumsnet you can lose a lot of time. This is by far my favourite thread and rather check in here than whole of the rest together.😀
Right best get organised for work and all my little lovelies.

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/03/2018 07:57
