Checking in.

Ta da
Cleaned kitchen
Cleaned bathrooms
Did some admin

Feeling a bit sad. Just worked out DH will only have had five days off in February.

I know I could take the kids in pyjamas to parents evening, but the thing is I shouldn't have to. I booked it around his day off that he's only just deigned to tell me isn't happening. It's also going to be so cold and it's quite a walk from the parking to the school. It's got a long drive.

I tidied up for a friend this morning who didn't come.

I think the root of it is that I'm very lonely at the moment. I'm not usually this bad, but it builds up the more DH works.

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/02/2018 14:31

Steamcloud · 26/02/2018 14:36

Place-marking. Thank you Cotswold!

Not surprised you are frustrated Cordelia could you get a baby-sitter for the evening to help you out?

Banana and raspberry cake sounds amazing zoo!

Callmecordelia · 26/02/2018 14:48

My parents would help usually, but they have real, proper, can't get out of bed flu. Part of the reason I'm so down is that they've been in India for two weeks (that included half term), then with my sister in East Grinstead (she had an operation) and now this. Usually they help me at the weekend and I speak to my mum every day. With them being (understandably!) away I've had weeks of not speaking to anyone except children for days. Or at least the day between 6am and 7:45 pm. I really need to widen my social circle, but I find that hard.

I'll cobble together a solution. I always do. It may be that DH will leave work early, because that is the only solution. And he will just have to lump it.

I've just posted on old thread by mistake so posting on here again now (sorry for duplication; it's boring enough only reading it once Grin frankly)

Well I've just finished very tedious office work. And have looked through three more boxes of papers for missing medical stuff - no luck - can't understand where it has gone!!

Also has put me in a very bad mood about future paper decluttering. I can avoid it no longer and those years of procrastination and "putting it off until another day" have caught up with me. I need to get rid. But it is SO tedious going through paper by paper and not quite knowing where to put things and dithering and then putting paper back ... can only stand 30 mins at a time... not looking forward to this at all.

DD is home burdened with hours of hwk. She is getting stuck in though thankfully.

Need to carry on with laundry.

Anyone know why photos might not post on here?

Also feeling gloomy because I feel I have a cold/ear thing coming on and feel a bit floaty/dizzy again. I would do anything/pay anything not to have another attack of labyrynthitis so moving around rather tentatively now.

Sorry for drip-whinge Blush

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/02/2018 17:16

Absolutely Callme, I can see why you are annoyed, especially as you have planned for how to cover your childcare so you don’t need to bring them Flowers.

CotswoldStrife · 26/02/2018 17:52

Cordelia I was saying on another thread that the lack of back up is an issue for me too. We relocated with DH's job and it was a big change for me, especially when it's difficult to get out and recreate that social circle. I am worried that it will be worse when DD goes to secondary because I won't see anyone!

Just dropped DD at out-of-school activity, hardly worth driving home but thought I'd see if DH was back yet (he has something on at work that may drag on into the evening) and he's not. DD's quick tea of choice on a late Monday night is still not available in the local chicken place so will have to go elsewhere!

Will catch up properly later.

Bollocks missed the thread link. March's thread is also open.

Sorry?

CotswoldStrife · 26/02/2018 19:55

Hey, we'll need a March thread too so it's all good Grin

I can do March if it's not already sorted, may be able to make up for my poor showing in February limited talk and even less action

Need to 'encourage' DD to finish her homework and then I'll be back later on.

OP posts:
Afreshcuppateaplease · 26/02/2018 19:56

I like having 3 threads to post on!

Longtime · 26/02/2018 22:31

Sc sorry to hear you’re feeling ill and down. I hope dd got through all of her homework. I do feel for you having to get through the dreaded Belgian school system. I miss dd but not the homework and constant testsad exams.

I’m also struggling with paper decluttering though I’m not looking for anything in particular so don’t have that frustration. My problem is I get bored of a task in one room so move on to another leaving a trail of destruction in my wake.

I have a dishwasher to unload and a basket of washing to put out which I should have done today but haven’t. I do have some tadas though:

Loaded and put on dishwasher
Loaded and put on washing machine
Some financial admin
Picked up dh’s prescription from the chemist
Posted letters
Bit of shopping (including a half price fleece and a couple of those aluminium foil containers with dog food in as I saw a homeless man outside the shop with a little dog who was shivering despite his coat and blanket).
Went to the bank
Picked up the new 🚗
Went out to a student (was worried about the snow but it had stopped by then)
Done nothing since except slob out in front of the tv despite the unloaded dishwasher and washing machine and now I can’t even be bothered to move to go to bed!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 26/02/2018 22:43

I cba writing my ta das

But i have done stuff

Honest

Steamcloud · 26/02/2018 22:55

That's kind of you Longtime thank you! Poor DD has done nothing but study and eat since she got home tonight after a fairly long school day. As is traditional, they are piling on the hwk a bit more after the Carnaval break.

I am feeling slightly more cheery though aided by
(1) the fact that I found my medical papers - yay- I kid you not, in very last pile I looked through, tucked in between some plastic folders! I'd almost given up looking at that point so feeling a bit more encouraged now as produced two recycling bags full of papers as a byproduct of the search. Will try not to think about the rest of the boxes that await me but YY to getting bored with it very quickly and YY to leaving a trail of destruction behind me too. I am going to have to be disciplined for once and do X 30 mins a day or something.

(2) also feeling slightly cheered from watching Mary Berry flirt with a Swedish chef with the help of two roasted celeriacs and a bunch of birch twigs Grin washed down with a a glass or three of Wine. Thought if I feel dizzy anyway then wine might steady me up in reverse! Grin Should have given it up for Lent but somehow ... um... we haven't yet this year. I'm blaming it on the cold weather Grin

Speaking of which, and on a more solemn note, oh that poor man and his dog Sad. I saw on the evening news tonight that police in Etterbeek are "arresting" the homeless and forcibly putting them in to shelters because of the extremely cold temperatures over the next few days.

Congrats on shiny new car btw! And slobbing out is sometimes more than necessary on a dark cold evening Smile so don't be too hard on yourself!

Steamcloud · 26/02/2018 22:57

Off to investigate third thread ...

Steamcloud · 26/02/2018 23:01

OK so original Feb thread no longer accepting posts so it ends beautifully on Afresh's "world domination" comment [

grin] Grin Grin

Steamcloud · 26/02/2018 23:06

PS Hills thanks very much for thinking of science books. DD's strongest language is English (she is English mother tongue) so don't think that would be a prob but we can always get Fr/Ne translations if it's prob I should imagine.

I want sausage, mash and onion gravy now [drools]

Steamcloud · 26/02/2018 23:08

Crikey it's the first on Thursday!

Is it just me or did January and February go very quickly indeed?

Steamcloud · 26/02/2018 23:15

Callme that is very hard indeed when you have no adult conversation for days on end. Dh travelled for most of dd's infancy - up to 6 yrs - still does a fair bit - so I can really really sympathise. I hope your parents and sister feel better soon!

Terrific list Foxes! as is yours ¨Longtime!

G'night all!
