We've filled the first thread, so for the final Fabulous days of February we'll use this one!

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 27/02/2018 09:15

I need to move but CBAitis has kicked in.
Worst thing to happen was I had to put the jar of chocolate spread into a bowl of boiling water so that I could melt it enough to get the chocolate spread out of the jar to make sandwiches Shock
It is the no hot water thing that is more concerning. Need to take the kitchen and it is no fun playing the boil the kettle game for that!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 27/02/2018 09:15

I dont like cold. Hence the enormous gas bill the other month Blush

We have about an inch of snow on the ground and its forecast on and off all day

We only own shop bought knitted stuff which goes in normal wash and then on radiators

Callmecordelia · 27/02/2018 09:33

Just back from a chilly walk to school. While we did get cold, it was actually quite fun. We should do it more often - it's an hour's round trip.

foxessocks · 27/02/2018 09:42

Well I just tried to "make memories" with my dc - we got all wrapped up with hats and boots etc both kids so excited, ds hasn't been out in snow before. Finally get outside. Ds just kept following me round saying "Up UP" and cried every time I put him down. Dd tried to rally and started making a snowman but then said her gloves were wet so she wanted to go in for a hot chocolate HmmConfused is it just me?!?! Isn't it supposed to be magical playing in the snow with kids!?

Afreshcuppateaplease · 27/02/2018 09:46

foxes Brew

One of mine reacted similar with sand om first trip to the beach

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 27/02/2018 10:52

Oh dear foxes! Kids don’t always read the #makingmemories manual Grin! I have to say I love the snow but love it more when warm and cosy inside.

It’s snowing here but not lying (have I spelt that right?!).

Ta da:-
Morning routine
Changed sheets on DD1’s bed. She had started wetting the bed after years of not doing it Confused. Any ideas anyone? Have spoken to a GP friend and consulted a potty training manual and both suggest initially ignoring setbacks and not making them a bigger deal than we need to. Have looked at the ERIC website and am making sure she goes for a wee before bed and brought bedtime milk earlier. Ugh. She has her first school and Brownies sleepovers coming up in summer too so need to get it sorted if poss.
Have had eyebrows done and waiting for haircut now, pampering myself after half term.

To do:-
I have foolishly agreed to speak to DD2’s school class this afternoon about being a HCP. This is despite the fact that my real job is quite specialised and not the generic description I am going to have to give the kids. Plus I only work two days a week and feel more like a mum than a worker a lot of the time (I do completely understand that these are not mutually exclusive so hope that doesn’t offend anyone). I am very used to teaching large groups of adults but 60 reception children fills me with fear Blush. I’ve done it before to DD1’s class but that was with a friend!!!!! Oh well, I have written a lesson plan (on the back of my Costa napkin, using a gift card from Xmas to continue the pampering). Have some kit and will get some stuff ready as soon as I get home.

Annoyingly I have forgotten a couple of things I needed for the post office so need to go into town again before I do the talk which will add time. Disorganisation strikes again Confused.

Hills, hope your boiler gets sorted.

I can do April thread if we need volunteers or am happy for someone else to do it! Could do March instead if you have had enough Cotswold!

I don’t knit so can’t help with the wool issue but at least I have learnt what felted means!

Woo hoo for found medical info SC.

Catch everyone later.

foxessocks · 27/02/2018 10:53

afresh well I'm glad it isn't just mine then! I think he was surprised it was wet .

Ta das
Daily routine
Dusted
Swish and swipe downstairs loo
Emptied kitchen bin
Cleared out some of dd too small clothes

To do
Make parrot with dd for world book day (when ds asleep as he is being destructive today!)
Start online food order
Meal plan
15 mins in living room

No more poo incidents since ds early this morning so hope the dc are on the mend although they do still seem very tired. We usually get up and out in the morning and this is second day we havent so think we are probably all feeling a bit lazy!

foxessocks · 27/02/2018 10:54

X post stressy!

Callmecordelia · 27/02/2018 11:07

After venting all my frustration on here, I got DH to agree to come home early for parents evening, and he arranged it this morning with his boss.

The school have just cancelled it due to snow.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 27/02/2018 11:13

Oh no callme Shock

Steamcloud · 27/02/2018 11:53

Good luck with your talk Toostressy knock it to them - bet all of reception will be dead impressed! Sorry to here about dd1 and bed-wetting. (I am sure you know loads better than me being HCP but have heard stories of cold weather causing people to wee more; the theory being that people drink more in dry cold air ... probably just a myth ... but wondered if it could be that? Or might be worth a quick trip to GP to eliminate anything physical? Anything worrying her?)

Oh no CallmeCordelia Sod's law!

Foxes/Afresh Memory making (and call me old fashioned but I find the phrase slightly sick-bucket-inducing) never happens on demand does it? Children are too individual (thank God) for that. It's a perfectly sensible reaction to dislike the feel of gritty sand or cold wet snow if you have never encountered it before. The best times I have had with dd have (mostly) always been entirely by accident or coincidental to something else we have been doing. And sometimes you can have a really awful time that turns out in hindsight to be "legendary" in terms of laughing about it afterwards.

Great that there are so many volunteers for March thread. Sorry I haven't offered (haven't taken my turn since Nov I don't think) but a bit all over the place atm.

Steamcloud · 27/02/2018 11:57

Trying one last time to post lamb pics! These are seven hours old!

Part 2, extra February Fabulosity with the Fledglings!
Steamcloud · 27/02/2018 11:58

Bloomin 'eck it worked!

Hard to believe with the weather so cold, but spring is on its way everyone!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 27/02/2018 12:12

Aww lambs

The big sheep looks pissed off but i suppose they always do?

foxessocks · 27/02/2018 12:22

sc yes to clarify I also hate the memory making thing Grin IMy FB page is filled with happy children playing in the snow today I may post my own photo of ds crying in the snow which I took and sent to dh with a sarcastic #makingmemories!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 27/02/2018 12:36

That is why i dont do facebook lol

You know those kids had a meltdown over something else today though

foxessocks · 27/02/2018 13:05

Yes so true. I'm ignoring it!

Ta das
Cleaned some living room toys that had gathered dust. Cleaned living room photo frames. Got stuff out from under sofa.
Made lunch and put ds to bed after

Steamcloud · 27/02/2018 14:02

Exactly Afresh! People only tend to post the good bits!

Foxes yes I gathered you weren't a fan of "memory making" by your use of double quotation marks! ...You should definitely share that post - do everyone good!!! Smile

Ma sheep was indeed in defensive mode, stamping her foot, and asking me to back off. Which is why photo is a bit crap Grin

I am dying of tedium here. Inputting data. Would rather stick forks in my eyes frankly Grin but it has to be done.

HillsBesideTheSea · 27/02/2018 15:05

I love data inputting Blush

Re bed wetting:
water infection
Not drinking enough
Not drinking enough early enough in the day
Not enough access to the toilet (also rather to be outside at break then go pee)
Not drinking enough water and urine being very acidic
being so utterly exhausted that just don't wake up
Stressed

Urm think that is all I got

Steamcloud · 27/02/2018 15:51

It's making me crossed eyed Hills!

If I may add to your list, and without being alarmist I hope Toostressy it is also a symptom of type 1 diabetes I think. It probably isn't that of course (you will know more about this than me) but may be worth eliminating. I only mention it because this happened to the daughter of a former long-standing fledgling.

foxessocks · 27/02/2018 17:01

Ta das
Online shop for next week
Meal plan for two weeks
Did puzzles and sewing with dd . I was feeling grumpy and noticed I was just sitting around staring at my phone this afternoon so decided to say yes to whatever the dc wanted to do. Feel much better for it!
Dh came home with sausage rolls - yum

To do
Cook dinner sausages (oops more sausages we really dont usually have them much at all!) mash and veg with leftover casserole base to make the onion gravy.

Today has really dragged. Snow plus children still being a little under the weather means I haven't left the house today and we all have cabin fever. Dh took ds out in the garden when he got home but he still didn't like the snow! And dd refused to even go back out! Argh!

HillsBesideTheSea · 27/02/2018 17:14

I remember that but can't remember the who SC it's not important of course but I bow to your superior memory. I'd help with the data entry if I was closer. It is my favourite task at work and there is never enough and I plough through it too quick Sad

Steamcloud · 27/02/2018 17:29

Have pm'd you Hills!

You would be very welcome here for data inputting anytime Wink Grin. I can supply endless quantities of Belgian chocolate ... . I am slow and dithery at it and keep stopping to check I've done it correctly.

GoingGoingGoth · 27/02/2018 17:42

I miss seeing them

Ta-dah
Beds
Dehumidifier
Dry laundry away
Next load on airer
Washing up
DD to school
Fed birds (& squirrel)
Packed orders
Made aunt a birthday card
Then tidied craft cupboard including clearing stuff from lounge
Taxied for friend who needed to be across city to pick up a death certificate
Then we went for coffee
Collected DD
Post Office
Did some mending
Booked appointments for DD's parent's evening

To do
Dinner
Washing up
More laundry
Play on PS3 with DD

DD is having her phone confiscated every evening this week - DH caught her on it at 1am Sunday night. So we've been playing video & board games & crafting. It's possibly less of a punishment but it is getting her to do something else other than tap away. She's also helping round the house more - willingly!

Cagliostro · 27/02/2018 18:32

Not caught up on the thread. Been another interesting day with family popping over at very short notice. Thankfully it was a snow day anyway so we weren’t doing any work!

ta da so far
✅put a wash on
✅quick tidy when I got a message saying can we pop over now
✅admin for party and sports club (cancelled the latter today because snow)
✅started sorting the pen drawers. Something I could do while feeding baby. Obviously had to stop but hoping to put baby down and carry on shortly. I’m chucking any dry ones, putting the nice ones back to keep and then any working ones that aren’t favourites I’ll use for the craft activity and then chuck after unless someone else wants them, we just have too many.

Need to try and crack on now.
