CotswoldStrife · 31/01/2018 21:03

Hello all - welcome to our February thread for 2018. Everyone is welcome and it's never too late to join in. We are decluttering our homes and keeping them clean and tidy(ish) as well as having some general chat as well.

We follow the Flylady method, and will post links daily to the missions via the Flylady website. For more information, have a look at www.flylady.net/

Here's to a fun February for all of us (with the occasional prod from the pointy stick of motivation and visits to the naughty corner Cake Brew Wine ) Grin

Do you have the really tall hat Fool? I have and I have done that before I suppose I could do it again if I can persuade DH to go in the loft for the hat. I have hospital app. So it would be easier not like the time we had a pirate week and I went with a full pirate costume I made out of charity shop finds including a skirt that was perfect but a little short for ( my age cough cough) me so I tarted it up with red ribbons and black net that I had in craft box and wore frilly( sassy) LA blouse and a neck scarf to hid boobs and a wide leather belt. Put make up including a horrible scar bleeding ( I was in Yr 6 and 5 for the day) only I forgot that I had osteopath app. And no time to change so had to go to health centre like that. Luckily three of the kids ( dressed up) were there when I arrived and were chatting to me when he came in. He walked right passed me didn't recognise me at all! Spent rest of appointment laughing at me ( very unprofessional😱 ) especially when I turned over he said " Eh! I hate to say this but you have left half your face on the sheet!" And started giggling. The scar stuck to the paper sheet and peeled off. I wish I had a photo I would send it to him and remind him it is WBD 😁
There is a thread with some good ideas (and lots of moaning.) The kids (most) love it. And some of the staff who get a little carried away at times. Umpa Lumpa!

Need to get up lazy bones, church at 11 now you won't get breakfast... Was hoping DH might have got up and made bacon butties hmm!

Cags I have a list on fridge so when I run out of stuff it goes on there ( if I remember) and then add to list and take it with me. Works well when I do it.

Bowerbird5 · 25/02/2018 10:35

Don't you dare take her to Tescos! Look at that little face "Please don't swap me mum! Please!"

Great photo she is so cute. I' lol have her.

Bowerbird5 · 25/02/2018 10:37

Eh cags your supposed to take the baby out before you pack the clothes! Just a little Mumsnet housekeeping tipGrin

Cagliostro · 25/02/2018 11:02

Damn. Clearly I have a lot to learn :o anyway she’s dozed off on my lap now and I have a tub of vests, another of onesies and another of Day clothes. Muslins and bibs can go in the nappy box.

I discovered we do have another bottle of fabric conditioner so after the towels are done I’ll wash the hand me downs (they are perfectly clean of course but they don’t smell like my laundry Blush) and then I can pack them straight into the tubs.

I’ll use the other tubs for toddler toys. May go into town and buy some more (£3 in wilko!) but really CBA to move at the mo.

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/02/2018 12:53

clean but don't smell like my laundry glad not just me that does that
Cag your photos of cagletini make my day.utterly adorable😍

Been shopping, thankfully do took in car in return me making him some lunch.its crisp n sunny but by gawd that winds bitter.apparently snow forecast here Mon,Tues and we'd...

Afreshcuppateaplease · 25/02/2018 13:21

Snow forecast to start here on tuesday

I bloody hope the school does not close i need a break after half term

CotswoldStrife · 25/02/2018 14:28

Good afternoon fledglings. Lively start to the day here as I set fire to an oven mitt. Proper flames and everything. Luckily I wasn't wearing it at the time. I'd left a burner on very low and put the mitt on top.

DD is suffering from toothache so is currently still in her pyjamas playing Roblox (despite having pushed the wobbly tooth out now).

We have the bad weather predicted for next week too, Tuesday is also meant to be the worst for snow I think although temps will be low on Mon-Tues-Wed. I would love a snow day tbh, but probably won't get one.

Need to do a bit of shopping and ironing today, can I add my firefighting skills to the ta-da list?

✅bought more storage tubs

CotswoldStrife · 25/02/2018 23:59

Aw, sending hugs zoo. Children certainly know how to push our buttons and you've had a really stressful time too with your DS, never mind the tooth as well.

I didn't set fire to anything tonight, I think we can all count that as a relief success.

I will do the links and post them shortly. Two zones this week, we have three days in Zone 5 and two days in Zone 1. Brace yourselves!

How did you know I have stuff in there that shouldn't be! A whole box of stuff to put away from when I was ill. I have washing to put away too😣 off to naughty corner.
I have done lots of paperwork for school though. Nearly caught up on one section. Then photocopy and file and start new section yeah.

Sorry unco-operative teens zoo we've all lost our shit with kids though. We're not perfect and as Cotswold says teens push buttons. Next time DD2 wants a lift / you to do something 😛 " CAN'T !" Is the answer then walk away.

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/02/2018 05:57

Wow it's cold here

Must fly faster or feathers will freeze off!!Grin

Afreshcuppateaplease · 26/02/2018 06:13

Brew ty zoo

Callmecordelia · 26/02/2018 06:42

No snow here yet. I am hoping the salt in the air fends it off a bit, I live on the coast.

I am so tired. DH worked yesterday, and has just confirmed he won't have his usual Thursday day off (and wtf am I supposed to do with the parents evening appointment? Take both children? When they're usually getting ready for bed at that time? Hmm) so that's going to be nine days working non stop.

To do
Washing
Home bleugh
Various bits of admin

A ta dah I forgot to mention is I decluttered our bedroom as well as the kitchen. It looks really nice now. Pity DH is barely in it. Angry

Flowers Zoo. It sounds so tough.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 26/02/2018 07:13

callme we have parents evening this week too, hopeful a grandparent may babysit!

Tiny sprinkle of snow on the ground here

foxessocks · 26/02/2018 07:13

Morning all keep warm everyone!

Dd seems to be poorly again so she is off nursery so I'm in all day with both kids! Think it'll be a tv and colouring kind of day.

Bowerbird5 · 26/02/2018 07:14

Had a really vivid, long dream last night where a baby girl had been left here in a basket with no note or anything. Discovered during the night later on FB, that a friend of my daughters (who I knew well) had a baby girl yesterday. I didn't even know she was due. How weird.

foxessocks · 26/02/2018 07:18

That is weird bower!

Dd got up early today and I was woken by the words "mummy there's poo all over the floor" as she's poorly I know she couldnt help it but not the best start to the day!

Bowerbird5 · 26/02/2018 07:43

Ah the joys of parenthood foxes!

No snow here. Feel more awake now I have almost finished my tea. Should be in the shower and I didn't lay my clothes out last night so will be a rummage through the washing that I haven't put away and hope there is a pair of leggings in there. I can spy a shirt in the wardrobe that will do. Knickers, socks and vest in the drawer.

To do
Up, dressed off to school. Teaching my favourite class today😄
Take box out of sitting room. Leave note for DH since the lazy * didn't do anything much last week. I pointed out the dust which I did on Saturday.
Think up something for tea while at work. Make it when I get in. Something to go in the oven while I have a snooze after school.
Quiz tonight

Steamcloud · 26/02/2018 08:21

Good morning all!

Yesterday's ta da (wreck2):
drove DD to second X country lesson
dog walk
tree marking
stripped four beds
stripped sofa covers
washing and towels in car
wiped/dusted/polished windowsills, mantelpiece, tables
swept out wood ash from fire and disposed of them under rose bushes
cleaned two lavs
cleaned sink & shower in bathroom and dusted cupboard
swept up mud and hoovered all floors
mopped bathroom floor
cleared out and tidied cupboard in office bedroom
sorted and cleared out fridge and cleaned throughout
swept kitchen floor
wiped down table and chairs
finished washing up and put away
washed all dog bowls
packed food in freezer bag
loaded car
drove home
unloaded car and frozen food
drove dd to maths tutoring
served up beef stew made on Sat
cleared up supper

Now have to start all over again in wreck1 which is in a terrible state again (sigh) + tackle towering piles of laundry.

Also have to find important medical papers which have gone missing.

Have a productive day everyone!

Cagliostro · 26/02/2018 08:48

Morning all. Not got up yet. Achy as fuck. I have a plan. Tomorrow I’ll get my bloods done (long overdue) and get myself and baby weighed (eeeeek). Start vitamin D and iron. Make effort to have proper breakfast again (eggs etc) and cut down chocolate/fizzy drinks to one day a week only. I’m in such a vicious cycle of eating too much rubbish and then feeling rubbish because of it.

Taekwondo later. And friend coming to cut DS’ hair so need to tidy up.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/02/2018 09:30

Morning all. Thanks for links Cotswold and well done on not setting fire to anything yesterday Grin. Thanks for the fire Bower, it is freezing! Good luck today foxes, CBeebies sounds sensible.

Sounds like a plan Cag. Callme, fairly common to see kids in PJs / onesies at parents evening type things. Is that an option if you have to take them? I know according to Mumsnet then it is the work of the devil but round here onesies are cool right up to teenage years and nobody bats an eyelid at swimming etc if children are in them.

Aaagggh zoo, have a soothing cup of Brew. Good luck finding the papers SC.

Big wing flaps to everyone else.

Ta da:-
Bought milk
Bought a cat bed that the cat will probably ignore but it is one of those hooded things that the vet recommended to help manage her stress Hmm and was only £10 in Aldi.

To do:-
I MUST declutter. So sick of seeing STUFF everywhere. Going to make it my goal for March but starting now that for this month that will be my focus.

foxessocks · 26/02/2018 10:00

My ds is in a lovely cosy zip up onesie today but then I guess he is only 18 months old! He looks so cute I have to keep squeezing him. He and dd are having a cuddle on the sofa - so adorable!

Ta das
Unloaded and reloaded dishwasher
Put poo covered bath mat in the wash
Stripped bed
Washing up
Colouring with the kids

To do
Finish daily routine
15 minute declutter living room
Move anything that doesn't belong in living room
Pick up parcel (weather dependent!)
Hoover
Mop
Swish and swipe bathroom
Empty bins

I can't dust today as I've run out of furniture polish so I'll do that tomorrow. I would like to fit a Pilates or yoga DVD in later as I was meant to be doing it once a week but haven't for the last two weeks now. Think I'll have to start doing it in the evening before I sit down because it never really works with the kids around as much as they enjoy climbing all over me!

It's snowing a lot here. Stay safe everyone.
