Hello all - welcome to our February thread for 2018. Everyone is welcome and it's never too late to join in. We are decluttering our homes and keeping them clean and tidy(ish) as well as having some general chat as well.

We follow the Flylady method, and will post links daily to the missions via the Flylady website. For more information, have a look at www.flylady.net/

Here's to a fun February for all of us (with the occasional prod from the pointy stick of motivation and visits to the naughty corner Cake Brew Wine ) Grin

Happy birthday little fox 🦊

foxessocks · 22/02/2018 13:01

Unbelievable! We've had to pick dd up as she's poorly Sad

Afreshcuppateaplease · 22/02/2018 13:11

Oh no Sad poor birthday girl!

CotswoldStrife · 22/02/2018 13:41

Hope those of you on half-term this week are enjoying it and a very happy birthday to foxes DD - I hope she is well enough to eat cake at least Cake

I have done tidying and laundry today, paid a bill, another one to go so will distract from my lack of work by talking about yours Grin

fresh not Peppa again, that's too much on top of a no-sleep night Angry
zoo ugh, options - has this involved much career advice-type talks?
Bower how is the parking today, how are you feeling?
SC you should blog about the renovations I am sure it would be popular (especially with photos).
Cag how is Cagletini doing today, and happy home ediversary!

Will press on. Wondering whether to do the washing up or Wii fit. Living the dream.

I have just emerged from dusting under the bed! Shock pretty grim!

Well I did my usual panic when I got the message from nursery and cancelled bowling with her friend later then dd got home and is absolutely fine bouncing around saying she feels much better Confused so had to contact friends mum again and explain tell her totally up to her if she comes...I don't even know her that well so I feel like a wally. Dh telling me I over think and worry too much so that's helpful Hmm errrr I know that!

Anyway. Hate it when plans get confusing. Think we're all sorted now though!

And in other news dh has nearly finished our front garden so happy days!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 22/02/2018 15:26

Oh dear foxes maybe she just wanted to go home to her presents lol

Steamcloud · 22/02/2018 16:11

Glad she is feeling ok and happy birthday to little fox cub ! Cake Bear Cake and well done re: heroic dusting Foxes! And hats off to your DH re: heroic gardening!

Sorry you are feeling rough Cag

Cotswold I've thought about a blog (esp on development of potager from scratch) but there are loads of them and I am trying to spend less time on screens, not more! Smile. Definitely going to keep private photographic record for ourselves though! It's already changed quite a bit!

I've just come in for a cup of tea to get out of the biting wind for a minute. One side of wreck2 is freezing and windy, one is sheltered and bathed in bright, warm sunshine. Guess which side I am working on? Grin

Happy half term to everyone on holiday!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/02/2018 17:16

Hello all, thanks for links Cotswold. Half term going ok so far. And yes, my ideas of a lie in definitely differ from the DDs Grin.

DD1 was at Brownies all day (back now) and although I have had DD2 with me all day, without any sibling bickering we have managed to get stuff done Hmm. I am well believe the bickering is bad with 4 DC Afresh.

Ta da:-
Took cat to vets. She needs more steroid tablets and we need to try to find her some areas in the house that are just hers. She does actually have some but most are high up so vet said worth trying to make a sort of den for her. I am hopeful that this may inspire the girls to tidy and declutter to create space for this den area. Hmmmmmm. Thanks so much for that recommendation zoo, I will look into it. Cotswold, I bet cat would like deli way too Grin.

Fairy trail yesterday good thanks Fooland. Lots of decorated trees, mud, a play area, restaurant and gift shop so both girls left relatively happy.

SC, I don’t think I’d say you’ve done no flying, you seem to have done loads of outdoor flying (have visions of Hogwarts style flying lessons now Grin).

Cag Flowers. Happy home-eddiversary Flowers!

Happy birthday to your DD foxes and I hope she feels better. Did you have the play date in the end? I can definitely relate to stress over changing plans etc. My DD2 is 5 tomorrow so there is almost exactly a year between them. We had her party at the weekend and all her presents (hoping she remembers this tomorrow!) but we are planning a Mac Donald’s trip and then special fish and chip tea after swimming. We have a couple of token presents for her and a card.

Thanks for parking update Bower Grin.

Big wing flaps to all.

To do:-
Tidy up after tea
Check on DDs - they are both at the table, DD1 is doing holiday homework I hate it so much and DD2 is on her tablet but it is too quiet so I must investigate!
Declutter a craft kit later that DD2 says she has finished with.
General evening stuff

Steamcloud · 22/02/2018 18:20

Happy birthday to your dd tomorrow Toostressy! Hope you all have a lovely day!

I am quite chuffed with my achievements today. Managed to keep going and didn't run out of energy for once. Also managed to fix a tool I had broken without resorting to a bloke for help! Yay!

Hands medal to Zoo for humungous list yesterday; hope school meeting not too onerous tonight.

Waves to lone hen and to everyone else!

Ta for links Cotswold even though I am straying wildly from them!

FoolandFitz · 22/02/2018 18:23

cag hope you are feeling better. It's okay not to feel on top of the world - we all have days like that. If it makes you feel any better I have a mountain of clean washing on my bed that I put there this morning that I have to put away too and I also feel ugh/tearful/anxious/depressed before my period. And you have a young baby too! You/it/life doesn't have to be perfect, good enough is fine. Smile Flowers

fox well done on getting rid of cobwebs and dust, well done to dh for his gardening and happy birthday to dd - hope she feels better soon.

sc I could never do agriculture as I am too much of wimp, especially in this cold. Can't wait for photos

Ta-da
Naff all
Apart from going to into the depths of hell, otherwise known as IKEA. I needed new dinner plates (as we only had 2 left and, er, there are three of us), and breakfast bowls (mine are all chipped) and LED lightbulbs (90p each!). I also bought a shopping trolley thingy (for when I walk to the supermarket) and a small plant and plant pot. £77

DP said that I was brave buying a shopping trolley as he associates it with grannies from when he was young. I made him change all the lightbulbs in the house.

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/02/2018 18:39

Slept really badly last night so slopes off to bed at 10.30 this morning, assuming as DP slept ok he would wake me after hour or so.erm no.he went back to sleep and I woke with a start at 2.35.mad scramble to get ready to pick up lil zoo.thsn D's arrive home wheezing and gasping for air...
DP dash off for lil zoo.i sat with him.took 45mins to stop wheezing-never diagnosed asthmatic but had lots chest infections when tiny and recently increasing bouts wheezing but norm recovers quickly.this one took stuffing out if him so rang go
Saw nurse.given inhalers and spacer.back asthma nurse in a month.
Meanwhile he's exhausted and wants mummy (must be rough wants mummy not mum at 12)dd2 breathing fire as whilst he's not wheezing he's prop up very quiet and pale.not up to GCSE options night (lots working mum's in overpowering perfume and hot hall for presentation prior to wanderjng looking at all topics)
Dd1 offered come with us,as 23 it's still fresh in her mind and she has better idea what's what.anyhoo D's want me stay with him.dd2 not happy bout taking dad as he don't listen, messes about a bit like naughty schoolboy and talks over people.shes decided will just go with dd1 in her car
I am now in doghouse and feeling super guiltySad
Meanwhile ds now back on sofa prop up quietly looking pale and exhausted

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/02/2018 18:46

Thanks SC Smile.

Grin at you making DP change all lightbulbs Fooland.

Oh zoo it is so hard to keep everyone happy sometimes Flowers.

DD1 is in shower now so I am just patching myself up to get DD2 in...

Bowerbird5 · 22/02/2018 19:23

Ta da
Get up and dressed.
Go to work.
More planning
Swish & swipe
Cooked tea...well bought it from the butcher put it in the oven. 1 hr later heated wok put noodles in tip Indonesian pork in stir. serve. Easy!

Bedside table
Vacuum bedroom sod that. Too tired going to bed soon.

Callmecordelia · 22/02/2018 19:31

Ta dah
Vacuuming
Dusting
Got bits from town
Got DH to replace the light bulbs that had gone - popular task today
Random pile of DH crap that had appeared in the living room is gone
Tidied our bedroom
Washing - two loads
One load dried, another to be hung up.

That's the most I've managed in the house for ages. DH being home is most of that, it makes such a difference.

Sorry to hear about poorly children, especially wheezing. I can really relate to that. Sad You made the best of it Zoo - there wasn't much else you could do.

Bowerbird5 · 22/02/2018 19:42

Not at all zoo. Going by how bad my asthma was I think you were absolutely right to stay with him. Asthma can be very dangerous DD needs to understand this. Show her asthma web page. Asthma nurse said it has been worse season she has seen. Don't hesitate if he gets worse. Prop bed end up if possible or lots of pillows.

Steamcloud · 22/02/2018 19:54

Zoo sorry your ds is so ill again - and as long as your dd2 is with responsible adult who knows what's what at options evening (ie her big sister) surely that's fine - hopefully there will be written/on-line info you can discuss later tonight too.

Foolandfitz I am sure our neighbouring farmers would not agree that I am doing "proper" agriculture; playing at gardening and a spot of tree management more like (with hopefully a few furries to come). Congrats on surviving IKEA trip - I have panic attacks in there unless I can see exit - and buying light bulbs nowadays is another level of hell! Grin

foxessocks · 22/02/2018 19:58

Hope all ok zoo sounds like you were between a rock and a hard place Flowers

We did indeed make it out with her friend this evening, dd seems ok but I won't send her to nursery tomorrow as its herpartyon Saturday so she could do with some rest. All things considered we have had a lovely day!

Steamcloud · 22/02/2018 20:05

Speaking of errant dhs and suitable punishments Grin - mine had the audacity to mention out of the blue the other day - that I should be like "F" (lady dog-sitter) who apparently gets up at 5am every morning and cleans through the entire house before everyone gets up. Apparently her house is spotless (sigh).

In addition to telling him where he could stick his "helpful" suggestion, I proceeded to leave him in sole control of DD for two nights (who is in a particularly hormonal/foul mood this week) with detailed instructions to help her with her geography project on town planning involving several trips to obscure areas of town with terrible traffic and hideous parking... .

Steamcloud · 22/02/2018 20:07

Great you all had a good day in the end Foxes!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 22/02/2018 20:10

Well played SC Grin. Glad your DD managed to have a nice day foxes Smile.

Waves to Callme.

Steamcloud · 22/02/2018 20:14

Sorry that sounds terrible that being with DD is punishment (which is not true at all) - didn't quite mean it to come out like that Blush - but anyone with 14 yr olds knows what hard work they can be sometimes ... . And with her being an 'only' our relationship gets quite intense ... it's good to get a break occasionally when dh not travelling!

(SC slinks off to dig bigger hole ...Blush)

Steamcloud · 22/02/2018 20:16

Thanks Toostressy! Hope you all have a great day tomorrow!

Cagliostro · 22/02/2018 20:53

Excellent work there sc maybe you could also suggest that perhaps F’s husband actually picks up after himself and that’s why her house is cleaner Hmm

Well today has been total crap, I did manage to do a couple of tiny tiny things though, which is probably better than it would have been a year ago when I’d most likely have done absolutely nothing.

ta da
✅put wash on
✅clothes sorted, haven’t put ours away but Caglets did theirs
✅spellings

I did order takeaway too.

I don’t feel like I’m ‘good enough’ though TBH let alone trying to be perfect. Days like this I just feel like a total failure. And I panic about how much there is to do!

Zoo a wise woman (who goes by the name of Hills...) once said, you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Don’t try to Thanks

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/02/2018 22:35

Thanks for the support guys

He's proper up on reclining sofa with a fluffy blankie with horses on it(his favourite)
No wheezy, sounds bit chesty still.for the love of all things holy he cannot get taking the inhaler independantly so I will prob keep home tom as has pe and he then has 3days to get hang off it and be up and sorted for Monday!!

Dd2 was in fighting mood, but the evening went ok.shes angry with me over not going, and for fact D's getting attention for his "illness"(same old same old with her)

I am sleeping in other sofa as he may be 12 but has no capacity to express illness(chest hurts, but doesn't panic if can't breathe or tell anyone so he's a bit of a liability.a highly swollen tonsil and sore throat he had just "felt funny" so I tend to have to watch him like a toddler and look out for symptoms as he genuinely cant seem grasp things aren't right..)

CotswoldStrife · 22/02/2018 23:14

zoo I hope you all manage to get some sleep tonight. You can't be in two places at once and your DS sounds really bad.
foxes good to hear that your DD is OK and made it out - a day off for her sounds good though.
fresh you may be right about the presents!
SC do the blog!

Waves to Stressy, Fool, Bower, Cordelia and Cag

Have (finally) caught up with washing up, there is laundry everywhere and I enforced homework time including a bit of a SATs workbook - DD feels she should be studying - as well as reading, spellings and musical instrument.

Will post the links next, see you tomorrow - get as much sleep as you can ladies!
