Hello all - welcome to our February thread for 2018. Everyone is welcome and it's never too late to join in. We are decluttering our homes and keeping them clean and tidy(ish) as well as having some general chat as well.

We follow the Flylady method, and will post links daily to the missions via the Flylady website. For more information, have a look at www.flylady.net/

Here's to a fun February for all of us (with the occasional prod from the pointy stick of motivation and visits to the naughty corner Cake Brew Wine ) Grin

Slept really well. Was worried I had slept in but still dark then find out it is only 5am. If I get up now I could finish all my marking. Hmm! Might be worth it.

To do up, work, new class to teach.😳 think this will be until July.
Home- bedside table - ask DH to find sander as it has needed doing for about a year. Sand , wax.
Tea- might buy fish and chips on way home. Or breaded fish from Sainsburys something easy. Carsh and sleep.
Hope all the poorly ones have had a good nights sleep. And the mums😉
Not expecting to fly much today just getting through the day ( this week) will be enough.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 23/02/2018 06:32

zoo an epic mum failing would be not recognising how bad ds is, or fobbing him off and him getting worse. You did the best you could and if anyone should feel bad its dp, pretty shit that dd2 doesnt think he can behave at school! Hes a grown up!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 23/02/2018 06:35

Happy birthday to you dd2 stressy My dd turns 5 in a couple of months too. So i will have to get organised for that soon i suppose!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 23/02/2018 06:41

Ds3 up at 6. Followed by dd at 630.

Really want to finish my bedroom off today. Started it early in week and then abandoned it.

Dp at some point did sort out his washing / glasses / bottles though so thats something i suppose

foxessocks · 23/02/2018 07:55

Morning everyone. Dd seems fine still but still keeping her off nursery today. She doesn't seem to mind not going in. We are going to have a chill out day just pop to the shops to get dd a cake for her party tomorrow. I'm having a pang of guilt about the party food for the weekend as I think I'm going to buy it all which is a cop out as I actually can bake fairly well. Problem is I do get stressed making things when people are coming over! So I thought I'd cut the stress out and buy stuff. Dd doesn't care as she just wants a paw patrol cake from asda!

Why do we all feel so guilty all the time?! It's crazy!

foxessocks · 23/02/2018 08:07

I did my bedroom windows earlier in the week but you can't really tell because the outside of them need doing as well. Might see if dh wants to do that at some point!

To do
Daily routine
Clean last bits of skirting boards in bedroom
Fix wardrobe door handle
Swish and swipe downstairs loo
As much washing as possible (my washing pile is out of control!)
Buy party food

foxessocks · 23/02/2018 08:07

Declutter car bag purse

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/02/2018 08:16

foxes mine want shop bought birthday cakes as homemade isn't "special" as I bake all timeConfused

Callmecordelia · 23/02/2018 09:01

DD was massively impressed by the shop bought cake I got her for her fifth birthday. It was the Sainsburys chocolate hedgehog one she'd been coveting for years. I was pregnant, had a dodgy hip and exhausted. I just paid for a soft play party - it was incredibly easy. It's also the only non family gathering birthday party DH has ever attended. Hmm

Steamcloud · 23/02/2018 09:11

Yep, deffo do not feel guilty Foxes

I spent hours and hours one year making a pink horse's head cake for DD. Something went desperately wrong with the jaw line at the icing stage, and it ended up looking like the love child of an angry rabbit and a mangy alpaca. One adult guest even congratulated me on my "creative" llama cake.

Blush Grin

Needless to say, DD was much relieved when I ordered the following year's offering from a local bakery!

Callmecordelia · 23/02/2018 09:55

Lol at llama cake Grin! My mum has had to rescue my last two efforts. I can't ice, why do I always forget this?!?

Foxes don't feel guilty about buying anything. I didn't even bother to make sandwiches this year. They don't eat them. I just bought masses of sausage rolls and cut up (bought) pizzas, put out loads of crisps. I did do hummus and crudités and bits of ready prepared fruit on cocktail sticks as a concession to healthy eating, but the food was very simple and I was a lot less stressed.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 23/02/2018 10:54

I have only once made a homemade birthday cake and only then as it needed to be dairy free. I have since discovered tescos dairy free caterpillar cake. Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/02/2018 10:58

Second pizza over sandwiches idea

Tadas
Kitty medicated
Cats fed
Wash on
Find swimsuit and extra long hair swimhat for lil zoo lesson at school today(curses self not doing this last night)
Cope with dd2 stropping as made decision to keep D's at home today as he's not got the hang inhaler and has pe today plus bitingly cold wind out.she doesn't like anyone else getting my attention.not an attractive trait
Breakfasts and lunches
Sweep living room floor
Sweep kitchen floor
Wash in drier
School run(leaving D's tucked up at home with his mobile by side)
Pop co op for milk on way home
Quick check girls room spot what looks like bit cat poo on duvet cover(a mark of it not huge poo)strip bed and soak for a bit(sigh)
Assume a hot wash after will be adequate?

Bit of my room.both my windows are fogged up between layers of glassConfusedno idea what to do about that!!

Bit more decluttering/tackling BRC

DP off to work at lunchtime so just going lob together a frittata in the oven to have together before he goes

I feel super tired to day,not sure if genuine tired or depressedSad

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/02/2018 11:00

Ooooh
The my lil pony cake had no dairy in it so lil zoo ended up having that last year(not sure still Df tho)the me to you bear mini cake is too(but big one has chocolate stars on it limiting us to piddling little bits rather huge clumps )
I loved the jammie Dodger cake but they change recipe on that and the bastard biscuits lil zoo was crushed

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/02/2018 11:02

Must go deal with littertray.antibiotics plus kitten equals stinky tray

Steamcloud · 23/02/2018 11:14

Go steady Zoo Flowers

Third vote for pizza over sandwiches! It somehow tastes much better cut in to tiny squares too!

Ahhh... how I miss the party for littlies stage ....used to absolutely love organising and hosting! One of my all-time favourite things to do. We had a law student magician one year whose dove got loose and crapped everywhere. Happy days ... Grin

Ugh. I have office "work" work this morning. Piles of it. Want to swap Foxes?

Steamcloud · 23/02/2018 11:17

Snap Zoo have rabbit on antibiotics here (for tooth issue)...will not elaborate... but suffice to say I am grateful she is trained to use a litter tray!

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/02/2018 11:49

Indeed SC littertray aren't pleasant but at least it's not everywhere.think bed issue is bits between toes that come out on soft flexible surfaces prior to them licking clean(tmi)
Tis done
I tend s+s bathroom before hand for a pleasant aroma(fabreeze flash bath cleaner) so as soon as it's done there's a nice smell in there!!
Hands washed and veg lobbed in oven for frittata(broccoli, cauli, peppers and sweet potato)just need add eggs n cheese once just tender(salivates in anticipation)

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/02/2018 11:56

Also yy to lil birthday parties SC
DS was 4 we hired our church hall as his birthday was two days after my friends lil girl and they were going to marry when grow up hate each other now
I did food(pizzas, veg sticks and dips, sausages, sausage rolls, fruit kebebs, fairy cakes.ice cream and jelly in plastic throw away cups.we hired a magician and had their whole nursery class for less than taking them all between us to indoor play areas(common place at the time)the magician did balloon modelling whilst they ate so it was very easy to contain everyone(30 3 and 4 year olds, plus we both had 4 kids of our own.and only 3 mum's stayed.couldve been carnage in hindsight!!haha
Remember it very fondly as his only party.him n lil zoo are not party lovers and pref option family day out or just one or two friend to cinema etc.they tend want the family outing.dd2 however wants everyone's adoring praise and opts biggest fuss possible!!over the years she's had pizza hut parties, ice cream parlour party, bowling...tbh I am running out of ideas for her...

foxessocks · 23/02/2018 13:20

sc I would swap I love any kind of admin work and parties stress me out! well I do like organising birthdays but the actual party part where other people come I'm not so keen on. I loved choosing all of dd presents and wrapping paper and putting balloons up.

Anyway. We have been to the shop and come back with a massive paw patrol cake , jelly, pizzas and mini rolls! She is having a soft play party tomorrow so food is covered there already but then we're having friends and family for a little tea party too. It's all very simple so it is definitely helping with the stress! And actually you are all.right...dd is very excited about her cake because she goes past those sorts of cakes in the supermarket all the time and loves looking at them and she never gets to have one! My mother in law usually makes her actual birthday cake because whilst I can bake fine I can't decorate at all! But mil is away this year only back to pop round on Sunday not in time to do any cakes! Which is inconsiderate. (Am joking obviously Grin)

foxessocks · 23/02/2018 13:24

Ta das
Been to supermarket
Made omlettes for lunch (neighbour dropped round fresh eggs yesterday so we have a surplus!)
Some laundry
Kitchen and living room tidied
Decluttered car
Did puzzles with dd

To do
Declutter bag and purse
Bedroom finish skirting board / door handle
Swish and swipe downstairs loo
Finish daily routine
More laundry

I always get to this point on Friday where I've run out of steam! Dd wants me to play all sorts of games with her and II'm struggling to be enthusiastic! Kind of wish she'd ask for some tv for a while!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/02/2018 14:38

Grin llama cake. I never bake cakes for birthdays.

Good luck with party prep foxes.

Thanks for all birthday wishes for DD2. We went to MacDonalds and then actually had a very productive shop for world book day costumes. Thanks to Sainsbury’s and Mothercare we now have two costumes although I need a couple more bits for DD1- Hogwarts scarf and tie as she wants to be Hermione Granger.

To do:-
General tidy
Prep for swimming

Cagliostro · 23/02/2018 15:23

ta da
✅collected Tu order (next size baby sleeping bags and a little gruffalo outfit)
✅swapped item in Debenhams as original was damaged
✅deal with monumental strop from DD because DS dares to sit in her spot...
✅bought storage boxes - planned ones for baby clothes but also a few extra as we need them for toddler toys. They’ve been in bags for months, we were going to sell them before the whole baby thing happened :o
✅spellings/sentences with Caglets

Happily I also now know what to do with some baby clothes. I’m saving unisex stuff for a couple of people, but have loads of girly things. Friend is collecting for Syria and baby clothes are much appreciated apparently so I’ll sort them out. I really need to properly move onto the next size stuff but am procrastinating. I love love love her dungarees and don’t want her to outgrow them! And yes I’ve already looked for a bigger replacement 😳😳😳 anyway having bought the storage now I have no excuse. Not that I’m actually doing anything about it now rather than faffing about on the sofa.

Cagliostro · 23/02/2018 16:39

Ugh dammit I actually have to move soon. Baby is asleep on me and I ache like hell, painkillers have done nothing. Feeling rather sorry for myself (again). I don’t really feel up to putting her in the sling today so hopefully the bus won’t be busy (it isn’t usually for Ballet thankfully).

Just realised I need to be extra organised for the Book Day party next week as we have trampolining that morning and a very narrow turnaround. DH can take them and often does but it’s the first session with a new group and as I’m organising it I’d really like to go. So will need to have absolutely everything ready the night before. Oooh unless I see if someone kind with a car could possibly take it beforehand. I have so much stuff to sort out.

I don’t wanna move. Also need to actually cook tonight or food will go off. Plus I’m suffering from lack of fresh healthy stuff I think.
