DD's birthday party today. Still feel awful.

My mum is coming over to do the games, DS will be in nursery for longer, so I don't need to worry about him.

To do
Declutter kitchen
Clean kitchen floor
Check for any last minute food requirements
Make food
Decorate cake (made it last night)
Rearrange living room, cover sofa with sheets
Set up craft activity
Decorate rooms
Blow up many balloons (with a bad chest and wheeziness)

I am tired out just reading that and the party isn't until 4.

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/01/2018 07:43

Oh no call meglad you have reinforcements(mum) to help out
Afresh forgot yourBrew

Bowerbird5 · 26/01/2018 07:43

Oh bless you Callme. Can you give the balloons to another person to blow up. First child to arrives parent?
😁 lil' zzzzoo
Right get going time. See you this afternoon. Have a fab day everyone.
So dark in here wonder what the weather is doing?

FoolandFitz · 26/01/2018 07:46

I'm so tired and it's not even 8 in the morning. Like Bower I slept really badly, DP's snores and snorts were a bit too much Sad Angry I have to go to school and look after wee little ones. Luckily it's Friday as by Friday afternoon they just want to watch Peppa Pig and play with play dough.

callme poor you, it's tough when you're ill and you can't hide under a duvet. How old is your daughter? Do you have to have balloons? I decided not to have balloons at DS's parties because the children go a bit hyper/crazy with balloons and it makes it harder to manage them. But then I am a bit of a party pooper for that I guess.

Yay @ lilzoo, zoo, how can she function with such early wake ups?

I did a bit of flying last night. Does it take anyone else ages to do things or is it just me? ie swish and swipe - it takes me ages.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 26/01/2018 07:48

Morning all

zoo i havent actually had a cup of tea today or yesterday! Think its because im so warm

Ds3 was in bed with me 2-4am climbing all over me while i tried not to breathe on him little monkey

Callmecordelia · 26/01/2018 08:41

I am probably even worse with balloons - I pop most of them when the children have gone to bed! She's 7, we do need some for games (Mum's brilliant - ex infant school head, she can manage them) and to put outside as I live in a terrace of identical houses.

It will be fine. Just dropped everyone off and I'm going to have a cup of tea. Bit worried about the cake. Everything I read said "you only need a dab of gel colouring". That's bollocks. You need a dab of gel colouring I've discovered for icing. For cakes you need lots. They don't look pink, they look anaemic!

foxessocks · 26/01/2018 11:13

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/01/2018 11:38

Sooo who wants to guess what injury ds comes home with tonight?

callme too much colouring makes cake taste bad especially if using natural colouring

Taking a lazy start to the day. I have the joys of computer fixing later. I don't want to and have been putting it off so it is an antiprocrastination Friday for me. Got to get ds' prescription sorted Blush. One of those days.

OP posts:
foxessocks · 26/01/2018 13:16

ta das
got bread
decluttered coat pockets!
made lunch
ds down for nap
finished daily routine
took more rubbish out to bins and put dishwasher on
decluttered dressing table (sort of!)

to do
declutter in bedroom
declutter bag purse car
dinner for kids before hair cuts

And have come up with a money saving plan and decided on M&S meal deal tonight instead of a takeaway, probably save us about a tenner but still a treat - really looking forward to a nice grown up meal with dh and a bottle of wine! (although dh has to work tomorrow so maybe less wine for him!)

hope no injury today hills

Subtleconstraints · 26/01/2018 13:29

Hi everyone. Spent the morning in bed feeling rotten (nauseous) with gynae pain (coming off various hormones) and found out my obyn/gym is away until 6th. Oh well. Thankfully, feeling much better now, though will be glad when dh returns from his travels in a couple of hrs. Also v thankful that cleaner has been this morning (although felt horribly embarrassed being in bed when she was here as normally work alongside her in different bit of house, or I go out and leave her to it). Anyway, downstairs not too bad. Need to summon up something for supper tonight (fish from freezer I think). Waves to everyone.

Good luck with the party Call me! Hope your dd has a lovely time!

Rotten luck that you are feeling ill but hopefully adrenalin will carry you through! Cake and Brew for afterwards!

Fool it takes me ages to do everything too! The theory is that as our houses get gradually more decluttered, the faster the cleaning will be! Tbh though, I think Flylady's "fast and imperfect" approach is more about preventing us from being "blocked" by perfectionism and the thought of having to do everything perfectly - which stops us starting in the first place. Better tomhave the mindset (for s & s for example) I will put the timer on for 5 or 10 mins and see how much I get done in that time iyswim, rather than aiming to do it all thoroughly, as housework has a nasty habit of expanding to fit the time available ... .

Ta for links Toostressy!

Hope your ds rtns injury-free this pm Hills

Waves timeline hen and to everyone else!

Subtleconstraints · 26/01/2018 13:35

Timeline hen?? Gah! Autocorrect driving me nuts!

Meant lone hen of course Grin

Good luck with your list Foxes!

I must admit, I don't really like stuff under the bed (because I have a wierd habit from childhood of checking that no one is hiding there!) so I store crap everywhere else instead

Hope you start feeling better soon Afresh

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/01/2018 13:43

sorry you're feeling rough sc take it steady
Hillsfingers X today's a better day

Subtleconstraints · 26/01/2018 13:52

Thanks Zoo! Sorry your ds still under par and not eating much. If it's any consolation, the boudoir here is back to its usual state of utter craptitude!

Subtleconstraints · 26/01/2018 13:53

Fab ta da list btw!

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/01/2018 14:07

Thanks SC boudoir Def zone I fear most.its also about an effort on my space iyswim.less worthy than clearing kitchen sides or living room that others see?(if that makes sense?)

Foxes forgot tonight's tea menu!!
Savoury mince with peas in pitta with salad
Last ginger cakes with tinned peaches(fresh fruit in low supply and paydays not quite upon us...)

foxessocks · 26/01/2018 15:52

Sounds good zoo ! Kids are just having beans on toast here lazy

Have got a bagful of clothes for charity shop and sorted out some other bits in bedroom. Decluttered bag and purse . Will do car when we go out.

Anyone know much about nail varnish?! Does it keep or should you regularly throw it out? What about if its unopened but old? Alot of mine look like they have separated but go back to normal when I shake them...any idea if they will be ok?! I dont use them much really.

Cagliostro · 26/01/2018 16:54

No idea really but I wouldn’t have thought they would do any harm through being old. You’d know if they still ‘work’ by testing them I guess.

Stressful 24hrs here due to family member absconding. Been found safe and actually nearer us so we may be more involved keeping an extra eye for the foreseeable future. God that was a scary night.

ta da so far
✅made it out the house on time despite lack of sleep etc
✅all clothes away
✅wash on
✅played piano as Cagletini still asleep in sling when we got home. Bliss!
✅quick rush round cleaning, this is partly because SIL will be popping round tomorrow TBH, pleased that I got some bits done before baby needed feeding.
✅got DD completely ready for ballet - just about to do hair - so we can leave in a more relaxed fashion

Afreshcuppateaplease · 26/01/2018 17:09

Well i just did something silly and threw a few of dc1s classmates addresses in to google. Big houses. Big posh expensive houses....feeling a bit inadequate

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/01/2018 17:11

might be a bit thicker and harder to apply but you don't have the infection risk in the same was as you do make up. iyswim.

OP posts:
Bowerbird5 · 26/01/2018 17:16

Ok so an all fed no one dead here day.

3 things planned and haven't managed any of them!

Was ready for leaving and ate breakfast ( Weetabix again) went to feed Henny penny and just walking down the garden and back meant I had an asthma attack. It looked wet but when I went outside it was frosty. Car had a thin layer of ice on as I loaded it.
So because of this 10-15 minute hic up I forgot the present and the charity box.loaded the four bags of stuff for school. Got rid of one bag of stuff which I have been looking after for someone. Yeah!
Did my three hours which included two meetings with staff. One new one and we got on great and are very much on the same wavelength. Expecting great things from working together. Spent another hour sorting out next week so staff know when I will be in and spent some time with a few children which was lovely. I have had so many hugs today.
Collected my prescription and ordered more inhalers on urgent fax, impressed by that little chemist. I have used more in the last two weeks than in the last year and it is nearly out, luckily son is asthmatic so can get one off him if I need to.
Stopped at Lidl on way home to get lard for bird balls (next week) and bumped into some parents from years back so caught up on their children's news and children😳 😱 bought Vitalite😄 to make Ginger Cupcakes thanks zoo for recipe. I will make them and take to choir as it is a special birthday for someone. I love ginger.
Don't know about nail varnish foxes but we collect them for school and have a nail bar apparently. I' m on face paint so I never see the nail bar. So I presume they are used year to year.

Wing flaps to everyone.

Subtleconstraints · 26/01/2018 17:18

Foxes put a few tiny drops of nail varnish remover in the bottle and shake; it will revive them.

Afresh don't let that sort of thing get you down - I live in a big (albeit unrenovated) house and it doesn't stop me crapping myself when people visit Grin and feeling totally inadequate - comparison is the thief of joy and all of that, everyone worries about something, and anyway, if they are worth knowing, it arsing well shouldn't matter.

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/01/2018 17:22

Nail varnish is fine.if it comes back on shaking.if too thick add smitch of nail varnish remover

Afresh my dd2 goes a girls only school.its not private but the amount of kids that come from surrounding villages.the selection car expensive cars lined up waiting for them after-school is unreal.what got me was her bf for a while live in huge house being renovated in very naice local village.both patents working mercedes Benz...her mum basically said we were way better of than them cos I get benefits....erm you read too much of the daily fail lies missus.i said to dd2 how does she quantify being "poor" her friend declared having to downgrade from Tesco luxury brand to household brands or horror of horror supermarket own brand (said in a whisper)dd2 blurt out in usual uncensured fashion meh we eat savers range or Aldi stuff.not a Biggie, get over yourself mate.i must admit it made me laugh.we raising kids in the real world.they won't expect everything on a platter.and will cope with not getting what want all the time.imo that's good for them

School run
Dinner on
Coat pockets emptySmile
Bags emptied, letters retrieved, homework books signed ready for Monday

Dinners 545
Out to choir 615

Subtleconstraints · 26/01/2018 17:22

Bowerbird you did v well to get to work after an asthma attack! Take it steady!

(Hastily hides bottle of foundation that I've had for four years from HillsBlush; although in my defence it is a pump action one so fingers aren't going in there!)

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/01/2018 17:24

Hope you feeling bit better lovely!!
