Fledglings fly into December to party hard.

Morning.

Tomorrow is December 1st which means roll call for the fledglings and shiny new thread. It might seem a bit clicky but it is because it is a long term thread, park your arse in the naughty corner for moral support, natter and various delicious goodies. Oh and smidge of housework too.

We follow the flylady system HOWEVER we adapt it to suit the circumstances of our lifes and sometimes we ignore the slightly more fluffy/bonkers babysteps --because we can and there ain't no one the boss of us

I'm in too though have been quiet over the past few days. I can't get beyond my work schedule to do much other than just keep the house ticking over. It's stupid o'clock because I finally got to talk to dd and was on the "phone" (facebook messenger phone bit) for over two hours! I'm now totally awake because I've got past being tired! Won't feel that when I'm in my dutch class tomorrow!

Sorry bit late. I went to bed early hoping I would feel better but no still have stomach ache. Thinking about the weekend I think it is going to have to be scrabble for GP appointment at 8am. Hmm

Thank you Sludgecolours for a great thread in November I felt very welcome to join the flying.
Can you tell me if cards are sent for St. Nicholas celebrations because I have some Polish/ Bulgarian/ Russian children at school and I would like to acknowledge their day somehow so I would be grateful for any suggestions. I used to childmind some German / English children so I know some of the traditions but it was a long time ago as two of them have completed a degree now.😳

Hope no one has changed my timetable today while I was off because I don't think I can cope with anything more. Going to make sure I have a break/ rest at lunchtime.

Plan for today.
Get up
Make bed, load car with three bags of stuff for different classes. Hope I don't forget anything( like Tuesday) and busy day at school.
Home at reasonable hour.
Easy meal, wash up, shiny sink and if up to it wash kitchen floor( been a week😡no one else has thought to do it/ bothered. Yes, looking at you DH😤
Declutter handbags( cos if I feel unwell I can still do this and one is definitely in need of a clear out)
Get ready for tomorrow and hoping a) well enough to go b) it's not snowing in Harrogate.
Dust bedroom, attach fairy lights ( where's the plug) and switch on( bed) take large mug of tea, new magazine and hottie and snuggle down early so I can pretend I had a sleep in on Saturday.

Good luck for flying today on December 1st ( Eeek!) placing tin of soup in reverse Advent calendar box.

Morning hills thank you for starting December thread. Good luck with ICT not my forte at all and can commiserate with any gremlins, glitches as the 10 year olds know more than me!

To do
Get one lot of batch cooking done today. I have bolognese, chilli con carne, chicken chasseur, red cabbage and meatballs to make this week.
After my mother found things to clean last week, I am going to clean the hob again today and make things look nice as she's staying the night tomorrow.
Go fabric shopping.
Go to John Lewis and look at the pretty things.
Go to DD's Christmas fair and try to get out in one piece.

Our advent calendars are up! Both Playmobil. DS has a 1.2.3. one which is all farm animals - so sweet, he loves animals, particularly chickens - and DD a general snowy Christmas scene.

Now I must get dressed, the Ocado driver might arrive in 15 minutes and I prefer to be up properly rather than looking a fright with unbrushed hair. No shoes though... Grin

I had the play mobile farm calendar last year. It’s lovely and goes very well with their nativity scene! Just a boring one for us this year though.

Good morning all! Pinch punch first of the month and all of that!

Fantastic name change Afreshstart you sound mahoosively organised for Christmas!!! How do you do it?!!! [doffs hat]

[Waves across the city] Dag Longtime Ik wens je geluk op uw Nederlandse les! (Hope that's correct!)

Good luck with the batch cooking Cordelia

Bowerbird5 no, as far as I know, cards are not sent for St Nicolas (but I am sure they would be appreciated anyway). It is more usual for children to receive chocolate, satsumas (or oranges as St Nicolas traditionally arrives on a steam boat from Spain) sweets, speculoos biscuits (spice biscuits) and possible some small marzipan creations in their shoes or slippers that have been put in the fireplace, plus some toys (well that is the Belgian version anyway)! It is lovely of you to think of your expat children - not sure of Bulgarian customs - but can definitely find out about Russian and Polish traditions for you though! What is a reverse Advent calendar box? (How does it work?) Sounds great!

Ta da:
animals
polished dd school boots
ironed and packed gym kit
dd packed lunch
emptied dw
(and filled again from last night Blush
wiped down kitchen surfaces and shined sink
prep for builders

To do:
Everything!! Sad (Literally - the house has descended in to an absolute shameful pit again - it is so depressing - will have to do another full home bleugh I think. No one else bloomin' well picks anything up after themselves!! Grrrr. And laundry has reached Mt Washmore heights again (sigh).

The bad news is that dh feels ill and fluey and couldn't sleep all night despite feeling exhausted. He has gone back to bed this morning (very unusual for him). My cleaning lady has also got flu and has cancelled.

The good news is that the passive aggressive window cleaner has also cancelled (well it's not good news actually because windows are filthy and I may not get another slot before Christmas) but I am happy I don't have to deal with him today. Builders are enough!

Hope everyone has a great start to the Flying month!

I am very organised for Christmas. I have a food stash, a Christmas Eve Ocado order booked in October and a gift spreadsheet.

I love Christmas, I plan for it all year. Blush

When do children grow out of Playmobil? DD is 6, 7 next month. I was hoping to get one more Playmobil Christmas after this one. I fear we are moving on to Lego Friends though.

Sludgecolours · 01/12/2017 07:37

CallmeCordelia my dd was still playing with Playmobil (house/school/vets) right up to the age of about 11yrs, and she even played with it for a bit (in a different way combining it with making hand-made models of stables etc) for two intensive blocks of time when she was 12/13 yrs. She's well over it now though. I think it is a good investment (but my dd is an only and so probably played with it more than most).

Afreshturkey aye that shines through in your posts Smile

Off for walk 1 with furry... .

Morning all

Thanks for bravely taking on the December thread.

I do catch up on thread just not posting much.

Hi to everyone new and old.

To Do

Dd's school this morning to help with present wrapping, they bring in £1 and choose a present for family etc. and we help them wrap it.
Ds school fair in the afternoon, have to meet Ds, give him some money, run to the end of the road collect Dd and drag her complaining back to school probably met by Ds saying he's bored and wants to go home! Hmm

i love Christmas though.
Time to get Dd off the laptop and out the door.

Will try and get back on later and do proper replies.

Sludgecolours · 01/12/2017 07:41

PS Cordelia I would happily pass on what we have to you although it needs a thoroughly good sort and clean first which will probably not get done before Christmas! Underlying condition is good though but couldn't guarantee all heads on correct figures for example!

Waves to everyone.

Reverse Advent Calendar suggested by parish priest last Sunday. You get a bag or a box and every day you put an item of food in it. This will go to families and pensioners in need. I think they might be for January because the Christmas ones usually go out mid December. I could do a double up though couldn't I and send before Christmas. I will check with SVP friend as she will likely be in charge of distribution. Need to find and take my advent calendar to school today. Children already asked me about it last week! Decs will go up at weekend so then we'll all be "EXCITED" except the staff who are still wondering if The "O" people will come before we break up.😕
Happy flying today😄

Bowerbird5 · 01/12/2017 07:46

Sorry meant to thanks for info. Yes, that is how I remember it might leave some satsumas in trays then😃 they can get cards with other kids but will acknowledge the day. I know one family at least will appreciate my nod to their traditions.

Food banks also appreciate the reverse calendars, i think theirs you can pop in weekly.

Welcome to the crazy train everyone, nice to see a few long time lurking members pop in. Grin

My sinuses hate me today. I forgot my allergy tablets yesterday so combined with the hideous level of caffiene intake sleep was hard so this morning I have a very bad case of I. don't. want. to. Hmm must go poke ds and make sure he is up and find a cup of coffee I need to get my floor cleared so that I can have a new shelf put up, also I believe I might have put the fear of god into people about not hanging about in the lounge so I can some more stuff sorted and cleared up so I suppose I probably should.

Happy December 1st people. Hope you are not delayed by snow, frost or ice!
