Order, Order! Do you have a little house of horrors? Welcome to the October Flylady thread where we follow the Flylady method for keeping our houses in order (along with some general chat and support). The monthly focus for October is paper clutter

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first. Join us at any point this month Glitterball

I'll post the first October links tonight!

Ah just thought claire you will often see very late posting from me, i have horrific insomnia sometimes. And I am very much a night owl. It is more shocking if you see the I am getting up at 5am postings because those these days are rare and outside of my natural sleep pattern.

Sandycarrots · 06/10/2017 13:40

[jabs Cotswold Afreshstart and self with ------>]

Good to hear the system is starting to work for your Goldenclaire

Enjoy your inset day Toostressy!

Safe driving Hills

I have already achieved a long list of things and am feeling fairly chipper. Only trouble is, there is an even longer list of things to get done this afternoon, so making a start now ... .

Toodle-pip one and all!

goldenclaire · 06/10/2017 14:30

well i've now hoovered downstairs and dust/polish living room. House is ready for the weekend. Gonna put my feet up for ten mins before afternoon school run.

Oh my Hills sounds like you've had a day of it. I physically couldn't get myself out of bed or stay up at 3am to do varnishing. I'd of zonked out on the sofa mid morning if that were me. I used to suffer from insomnia but i sucessfully managed to change my body clock around. I now get up between 6-6.30 and i find that by 10ish i'm very tired and i now normally fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.

I look forward to seeing your finished list then sc Smile

Stilllivinginazoo · 06/10/2017 14:52

I have prozac

Lil zoo.ds and i are being confirmed into our church sunday

I am overwhelmed by everything....

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 06/10/2017 15:52

Oh zoo, hope the Prozac helps.

Ta da:-
Went to shoe shop - remembered we were meant to be going today as DD1 needed new trainers. Got the trainers and also got some winter boots which will also be ok for school for both DDs. This was unplanned but the shoe shop was practically empty which is a luxury these days now we are usually tied to weekends / school hols so it seemed silly not to take advantage of it. Otherwise we would be back in a few weeks in a packed shoe shop buying the same boots.

CotswoldStrife · 06/10/2017 16:09

Sending hugs zoo, don't forget these things can take a couple of weeks to work as well - we're here if you need to vent in the meantime Flowers

If its any encouragement zoo, i loved prozac, it might take awhile to work but it was wonderful to just feel normal and happy again and like you can cope with life. Hope you feel the positive effects soon

Ive been working today ( i work from home)
loaded dishwasher and turned it on
Now just lay here tired
Need to make food soon

Ive been struggling with pregnancy symptoms, my nausea has only just started to clear at 25 weeks so i've had a lot of housework pile up. Its been amazing to have occasional bursts of feeling normal and getting stuff done. Hoping ill perk up a bit later and add at least one more thing to my list

GingerIvy · 06/10/2017 19:26

Wiped out. Spent part of the morning moving furniture. Then went out for the day with the dcs, going to IKEA with a friend. Didn't get home until suppertime, and now not going to do anything I don't have to this evening. Grin

HillsBesideTheSea · 06/10/2017 19:41

Washing folding is waiting until tomo. I am face planting into bed.

Cagliostro · 06/10/2017 19:56

I have only just sorted the Caglets' dinner and TBH DD has done part of it! Totally unmotivated.

Supposed to have a friend over tomorrow but can't decide whether to cancel or not, DH is off so I may have a chance to nip out child free with her but also aaaaaagh tired. And we have so much to get sorted.

ta da
✅put wash on (although again DD did most of it)
✅phoned doctors about prescriptions for me and DD
✅asked DH to find out how much leave he has got left. He has saved some for after paternity leave (he gets 2 weeks for that) but I am really considering suggesting that he takes a couple of days soon as well while we get stuff sorted. As I really have no idea how we are going to manage otherwise.

Yup I am fully back into panic mode again. For the house stuff anyway. Am really excited to meet my little girl though. :)

Huge hugs zoo please try and be kind to yourself xxx

CotswoldStrife · 06/10/2017 22:36

Wine o'clock here. Enough said. So glad the weekend has finally arrived!

Take it easy Fledglings, sounds like we are all exhausted today - it's good to take a rest some days, leaves us better prepared for the tasks to come!

SC, I want to do the residences test too as is seems the most straight forward way of getting citizenship. I asked someone about it and they said you needed one main language (French for me) but also knowledge of the other (seemingly forgetting German). My written Dutch is pretty good but I’m going to oral/listening classes. I’ve been put in the class that gets you to C1 level and it’s going ok so far though today learnt we will have to do presentations next month. I hate public speaking in English or French so it will be ten times worse in Dutch!

When/where are you doing the test? Are you doing lots of studying? Sorry to derail the thread - I’ll send you a pm.

Does anyone post before and after photos? I have a pile of receipts in front of me about a tenth of which are sorted out. I was thinking that if I posted a before photo it would motivate me to get to the after stage!

Cagliostro · 07/10/2017 01:47

Blah. Feeling spectacularly unwell but can't quite describe how Confused just really dodgy and wobbly. Trying to doze off with a DVD on the sofa. Methinks zero flying tomorrow and will probably cancel on friend.

GingerIvy · 07/10/2017 07:59

Cag hope you're feeling better soon.

Morning routine done, laundry started. Have 4 bookcases to sort through and organise today, along with home ed, prepping home ed for next week, more laundry (where DOES it all come from?!?!), and shredding. If I get the time, I will do a thorough vacuum as well, although at the very least I need to do a quick vacuum. Should have done it yesterday when I was moving furniture but was too tired and wanted to just get done.

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/10/2017 08:02

Ah bollocks it's a throat thing/cold. Which with CFS/fibro/POTS is extra shit. And pregnancy/gestational diabetes means I can't even have most of the medication/helpful food either. F. M. L. Angry

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/10/2017 09:21

Oh bugger cag Sad

Afreshstartplease · 07/10/2017 09:26

Ah being poorly while pregnant and not being able to take meds is the worst. cag Brew

My house is so fucking stressful today.
And so messy.

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/10/2017 10:28

There is no one else in the house today. I have been enjoying the silence. Blush But must move as there is a long to do list that I want to accomplish. Them bloody to do lists only ever seem to multiple even finish.... Hmm

Cagliostro · 07/10/2017 11:03

It's like trying to bail out the titanic with a thimble isn't it?

How are you doing zoo have you started the tablets yet? Hope side effects are ok anyway.

ta da
✅got DH to find out about delivery of new vacuum cleaner - missed it yesterday but apparently they will retry today yay!
✅texted mum to wish her a happy birthday, as I can't talk easily yet
✅looked up possible food good for throat (currently involves searching on Tesco website to compare nutrition tables for carb/sugar content)
✅wrote shopping list for DH
✅messaged friend to cancel today (definitely for the best, she's a teacher so doesn't need any more germs!)

Not planning to do a damn thing otherwise though. Dryer still needs to go on but the Caglets can sort all that

Afreshstartplease · 07/10/2017 11:07

Hope anyone feeling rough and or low starts feeling better soon BrewCakeFlowers

Ta da

One load washed now in dryer
Second load in washer
Half pots washed

I have also listed my travel system on a selling site as i am after a new one i have seen. I like prams too much. Hopefully i can sell current one for enough to cover the cost of new one

Cagliostro · 07/10/2017 12:01

It was you with the Giggle 2 wasn't it? We have one for Cagletini but not unpacked it yet. Very excited :)

I should be annoyed at DH for buying something in the charity shop. But I'm not because it's Lego Bionicles, £4 for a massive box which would cost loads if buying the retired sets (which DS adores - Transformers and Bionicles are his two ASD obsessions). So we will have fun going through it all and any spare bits can be added to the regular Lego anyway.

New vacuum cleaner arrived too. Cordless!!! Think I'll ask DH to clean out under the bath using the old one though before we stick it outside ready for the skip. It was seriously gross under there.

DH didn't manage to find out how much leave he's got left yet. Really need to sort it out. If my sugars go up then they will be inducing me in 3 weeks!!!
