Order, Order! Do you have a little house of horrors? Welcome to the October Flylady thread where we follow the Flylady method for keeping our houses in order (along with some general chat and support). The monthly focus for October is paper clutter

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first. Join us at any point this month Glitterball

I'll post the first October links tonight!

Yes cag thats what we have. I still love it tbh but i get bored of a pram after a while lol. I am eyeing up the new cosatto busy now!

Sandycarrots · 07/10/2017 12:38

Good afternoon everyone.

DD had two friends staying overnight (lots of happy screeching) and I've just dropped them off to another friend's birthday party (pizza restaurant by themselves without parent present ; oh the sophistication Smile).

Afreshstart hope your day gets less stressful as it goes on

Sorry you are feeling so rotten Cag, rest up [honey drink] and stay put on sofa

Zoo Sorry to hear dc still feeling poorly and you had such a broken night. Take it steady [think you are a saint to clean church and deserve a Halo.

Roseandbee sounds as if you are having a tough pregnancy. Glad you are feeling a bit better but do take it slowly Flowers. Flylady is all about small steps - short lists are how it should be done!

Hills enjoy your time being in sole control! (If 'enjoy' is right word with everything you have to get done!)

Gingerivy ooh I love sorting bookcases (my bks are all in cardboard boxes - long story)! Good luck with it! If it's any consolation it appears that every item of clothing, bed linen and towel we possess needs washing atm. Still dealing with machine failure/guest linen/flu back-log here!

Longtime you sound v on top of lang/citizenship stuff. Much more so than me, we have been a bit lax about it until now. Dh has made initial overtures to commune and response was encouraging but loads more to be done. French ok-ish I think although always room for improvement, and until this point, I have been relying on my endless "testing" of dd on Ndl grammar to get me through (she went to bi-ling primaire in Fr/Fl and is in immersion now at secondaire.) Think much more application is required on my part and no, I am not studying like mad, but probably should be! Please do pm but haven't date or time yet (application through dh)! V happy to discuss further info when we have it. Good luck with your presentation!

We have had a few before and after photos on here before and they are always very motivating I think! Smile

Waves to Honu Toostressy Foxes Goldenclaire and everyone else I have inadvertently missed!

Sandycarrots · 07/10/2017 12:40

So sorry missed Pickledsausage Betsy and Cotswold [thanks for links] off wave list and probably lots more! Brain dead today!

Thanks Sandy, I've def improved, although too tired yesterday to get anymore done. But the rest has meant today has been more productive. Although my goal was to clear upstairs hallway but I've been slightly scatty so I doubt I'll achieve it as off out soon to the in laws, but the bits I've done are improvements so not gonna beat myself up about it (which is something I usually like to do)

Hope you feel better cag, it sucks not being able to take stuff. Are the throat numbing sprays pregnancy safe?

Still got half a pile of receipts sitting here but decided to sort out the bottom kitchen cupboards and chuck out stuff I don’t need so I can move some things from the work surfaces to the cupboards. Have sat down and now have things kind of everywhere.

Went to look at cars this morning as ours is 11 years old. Also went to buy a new vacuum cleaner this morning but came back empty handed.

I’m being driven mad here. Both neighbouring houses were sold a couple of years ago. We had constant work for nine months from the RHS one (by the end of which I was ready to strangle someone) and the LHS one has been much slower for a variety of reasons. I don’t know exactly what they are doing today but they have been grinding all day.

cag, hope you feel a bit better soon. Only three weeks to go (potentially)?

sc, I need to try and find out what sort of questions they are going to ask. I don’t want to fail!

Anyway, back to the kitchen.

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/10/2017 16:27

long that sounds miserable.id be gunning for someones giblets if i was stuck with grinding noises all day long.like be next door an amateur dentist

Cagliostro · 07/10/2017 16:30

Zoo big well done for your achievements today! Hopefully you'll get accustomed to the meds quickly.

Indeed long hopefully more likely 5 weeks which would be my due date and they will induce me then at the latest. It could be 3 weeks IF my sugars don't stay controlled in which case they'll induce at 38w, and although my levels are all good at the moment I'm prepared for that to happen because you tend to get more insulin resistant during these last few weeks.

I am starting to feel more ready for the actual baby but in terms of the house... fuuuuuuuck. 😳😳😳

Cagliostro · 07/10/2017 16:32

And yes rose Difflam is apparently a safe brand of spray/rinse :)

I am using raspberry leaf tea as I can't have hot apple juice. It's gross. But I'm having it anyway due to impending labour.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 07/10/2017 20:04

Aaaagh MN just ate my post.

Good luck with the language studying longtime and SC. Well done to the productive people today and FlowersBrew for those who need them.

Sandycarrots · 07/10/2017 23:12

Longtime me too, rather terrified at prospect! I've heard they ask a mild, friendly "so what do you like best about living here?" to start with, but then follow up by asking you to expand in quite rigorous detail about your answers (gulp).

Cag Cagletini won't give a monkey's about state of house! Smile

Thanks Toostressy hope Strictly watching more enjoyable this week!

I'm knackered but a bit stressed for various reasons so can't sleep. Early start tomorrow, g'night all!

CotswoldStrife · 07/10/2017 23:27

Morning all. Enforced Flying here as thanks to a warning from a friend I checked the Caglets' hair and found a few nits haven't had them for SO long but we have been really lax lately (normally use Vosene shampoo and spray religiously which has protected them even when all their friends have caught them, but haven't been washing hair as often, have been letting them do their own hair so not as thorough). So washing towels and bedding etc today. Ordered a Tesco delivery but they didn't deliver the treatment or try and substitute it so DH is running to the shops when they open. Gaaaaah.

foxessocks · 08/10/2017 09:12

Morning all. We have all got a sickness bug here and it is GRIM. The baby is the only one who is so far ok so he is causing absolute mayhem fiddling about while none of us have the strength to stop him! And we were meant to be going on holiday next week Sad

No flying here and the house is a huge mess so will be operation tidy up and disinfect as soon as we are feeling more human...

Sorry - that was very self absorbed. I do hope other people are having a better weekend!!

foxessocks · 08/10/2017 09:13

Oh cag I'm dreading nits! My children aren't quite at that age yet

Cagliostro · 08/10/2017 09:37

Oh nooo! TBF I would rather deal with nits than vomiting. I really hope you all recover quickly.

Highly recommend Vosene when DD at nursery/school, honestly have avoided so many outbreaks. Back to regular and strict use for us again as we have suffered from becoming complacent (since they aren't at school - we have only caught nits since they left school!) The spray detangles as well. (I swear I don't work for them)

Sandycarrots · 08/10/2017 10:14

Oh poor you Foxes; I thought you'd been rather quiet of late. Hope you all recover soon and ds doesn't succumb.

Sorry you have extra chores foisted on you by unwelcome "visitors" Cag what a bore.

Cagliostro · 08/10/2017 14:14

Enforced pyjama day here! Turned out the hair stuff was one of the leave in for several hours varieties so we are dossing at home watching DVDs and the Caglets got to keep their Lego out (downstairs - normally lives in their room) for an extra day :o

Washing continues. Thank goodness for tumble driers. Also unfortunately I will have to wash everyone's hair as DH is at work (with stuff in his hair too, as a precaution) which is tricky (shower attachment to sink, leaning over bath - not easy with dizziness issues!) but oh well.

Just had a looooong chat with mum talking about plans for when baby arrives! As they will be looking after Caglets here. She's retiring soon and has some leave booked before too so I've written down what days she's free - it's just after I turn 38 weeks so could well be induction time!

Also it occurred to me that I need to get a bag packed for the Caglets too! Have had some very kind offers from friends to pick them up in an emergency (really not expecting to go into labour naturally TBH but you never know!) - so I thought it might be good to have a suitcase with some spare clothes and jammies as if my waters break or something I will be in no fit state to think of all that!

It's all getting very very real. 😳

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 08/10/2017 17:30

Hello all, how annoying Cag Angry. foxes, looking after little ones is horrific when you are ill Flowers. Is there anyone that can come and help you or is it a case of struggling on?

SC, lovely to hear your DD has found a running club.

Big wing flaps to all and thanks for links Cotswold

Ta da:-
Junior parkrun
Went out for breakfast and DDs behaved fairly well Smile
Food shopping delivery
Laundry in progress
Tea eaten
DDs in PJs as we are doing movie night

Strictly was ace, thanks. Didn't watch it all as took advantage of the time to do some tidying but saw bits and pieces.

Have had another offer of some freelance working, slightly rubbish hours but might do a bit. Where are all these 10am - 2pm jobs that I am looking for??!

To do:-
Prep bags etc for tomorrow
Paper clutter
Some decluttering in zone 1
Tidy up after tea (hope DH has done most of that)
Not sure, some more stuff I'm sure
Calendar check
Investigate the birthday present situation- we have a real run of birthdays from September onwards
