Order, Order! Do you have a little house of horrors? Welcome to the October Flylady thread where we follow the Flylady method for keeping our houses in order (along with some general chat and support). The monthly focus for October is paper clutter

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first. Join us at any point this month Glitterball

I'll post the first October links tonight!

What's your vit D level zoo will make you feel very down and tired and is linked with shortening days.

Cagliostro · 04/10/2017 18:48

Big hugs zoo xx

Have done sod all this afternoon other than getting clothes put away. I am spending hours and hours sitting on the sofa browsing MN and FB. Sigh

Sandycarrots · 04/10/2017 20:54

Very good to hear you are resting Cag!!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 04/10/2017 21:57

Sounds as if it is good for you to have a rest *Cag. Sorry to hear you feel rubbish zoo and hope you find some help at the doctors.

Ta da:-
Home bleugh (except bedsheets, will do at weekend)
Ordered bday present for my mum
Calendar check - feel a little more organised now

To do:-
Watch telly and go to bed Smile

Cagliostro · 04/10/2017 23:03

I'm not entirely sure really. It sort of feels like it's not proper rest. I should probably make the effort to actually have a doze or something rather than just faffing! 😳

CotswoldStrife · 04/10/2017 23:46

Sorry you are feeling so low at the moment, you are doing the right thing in seeing someone to get checked over though.

No exercise completed today. Will run dishwasher and clamber into bed myself. Links to follow. Sleep well fledglings.

Sorry to hear people are not feeling great at the mo. Sending hugs xx
Have a day off today planned a tip run.... piled in some stuff In garden loads of old broken garden toys bits of rubbish old table etc and it's rained all night sad times so all soaked now. But still determined to load it up and go I'm very scared of spiders and I know there's lots out there butttttt going to try ignore that part and get rid lol.
Also have stuff in the house was meant to pile up to go last night old ironing board etc so need a hour after school run to get stuff together and go. Love a good tip run really lol.
Also couple of parcels to collect, couple of things to fill in and send off that totally forgot about argh and few shop errands to do.

Can I ask how long you all keep paperwork for? Like utility bills, bank statements etc? Got 3 boxes of paperwork I need to organise some have to keep like daughters Sen paperwork etc but other bits I jus don't know how long I need it for. The boxes stress me out everything is so messy and unorganised in there x

Cagliostro · 05/10/2017 07:58

Morning all

Betsy best of luck with the tip run! Imagine how great it will be when all that stuff is gone.

Two out of three clubs cancelled today so not such an early start and no evening rush either. Dreading the club that actually is on as may have to bump into the woman that made life hell earlier this year (and her kids who bullied mine). Thankfully I will be surrounded by friends but still not looking forward to it. Hoping she will just ignore us.

Doubt I'll get anything else done today although I need to try and charge up the old laptop to get some info off it, put a wash on, and at the very least do spellings and maths with the Caglets.

Really feeling like a crap mum at the moment getting nothing done.

HillsBesideTheSea · 05/10/2017 08:06

I keep financial stuff for 7 financial years, it is all in folders level arches that will fit 2-3yrs worth and it is divided by account/type. I have a seperate folder that holds student loan info and that goes back to the beginning of time. And another file that holds manuals and purchase info/receipts of high value items like washing machines/laptop/tv type stuff. It is one of the few things I am good at keeping well organised if i put the paperwork into the file as it arrives

Thanks for the reminder, I need to rescue a few things from the garden before all the storms arrive.

Just taking a few moments to gather my thoughts before I hit the to do list:
To do
get ds off and out to school
rescue the kitchen
put slow cooker on for winter veg soup
deal with fruit and put on to cook down
Un pack box and apply primer
Rescue hanging baskets and put into winter storage having cleaned then up for next year.
apply varnish coat
Batch cooking: cottage pie
Batch cooking:: lagsana
Batch cooking: pizza rolls
Batch cooking: biscuit dough - prepped and frozen ready to cut and cook (no egg recipe)
Batch cooking mince topping/spag bol
Batch cooking: burgers - prepped and frozen
Assemble the flat pack (?)
Laundry
pack ds' stuff for the weekend

Basically we can summarise today's to do list as trash kitchen and get high on fumes Hmm

Right must move at speed now hey ho

GingerIvy · 05/10/2017 09:41

Oh, paperwork makes me crazy. I have far far too much of it. Two of my dcs have SNs, so there are mountains of paperwork for each of them, and I can't get rid of it. I've gone through some of the boxes of paperwork and pulled out what I can shred. I have one more box I've sorted to be shred, and then hopefully I'm done for awhile. I have a tendency to let it stack up and then I put off sorting it.

On a storage note, I'm bringing in some IKEA to help create some storage. Small flat, needs must. I can only declutter so much.

Today is laundry day. I normally do a load a day, but we've been out a lot recently so it's going to be going most of the day. At least the dryer will keep the house warm. Grin

Longtime · 05/10/2017 09:42

Free day today and I’m struggling to motivate myself! Sitting with a batch of papers, the paper recycling bin and the shredder!!

Cagliostro · 05/10/2017 09:55

Aaargh so disorganised today, DH still has the Caglets bus passes so have to get a family pass instead of just one for me (yes I am still paying for bus pass for myself because I still haven't applied for my disabled pass) and then we missed the bus because I couldn't find my bank card... which was still in my hoodie from yesterday so actually I DID have it on me after all... FML. One of those days clearly

ta da
✅not fall to pieces despite above chaos
✅spelling and maths
✅vaguely got old laptop charging
✅wash on (I collected and DD put liquids in)

goldenclaire · 05/10/2017 10:39

Morning all, I'm feeling lazy today. Not much is getting done here at the mo.

Hills Your kitchen is going to smell amazing today. Is there a particular reason why you are batch cooking?

Longtime · 05/10/2017 11:14

HillsBesideTheSea · 05/10/2017 11:19

Yes. Food allergies means no ready to go/pre prepped food. Life means meals all over the place timing wise also cba to cook days where grab and go meals are very useful. Mostly the latter. I cba to cook a lot in the evenings as just too tired. So the freezer is my friend

HillsBesideTheSea · 05/10/2017 12:01

Also makes it easier for ds to put tea on if all he has to do is shove it in an oven (and the instructions are on the lid) Grin

foxessocks · 05/10/2017 13:11

Afternoon all, ds woke up far too early from his nap this afternoon so he is now grumpy and I'm a bit fed up that I'm not going to get done what I thought I'd get done!! I deliberately came home instead of going shopping so he could sleep longer too, typical.

All your talk of paper decluttering is making me feel like I should make a start on mine but it's just such a big task...

Ta das
started daily routine - dishwasher on, washing hung up, general tidy up
dinner in the slow cooker (beef and red wine and lots of veg and garlic)
sorted out a bit of paper clutter in the kitchen (not the proper paper clutter that's in the spare room but never mind!)
Took parcel to the post office

To do
swish and swipe bathroom
finish daily routine - lots still to do upstairs if ds allows it!
declutter another drawer in the porch
take dining table apart to clean the middle where all the crumbs gather! (includes trying to remember how to take the damn thing apart)

foxessocks · 05/10/2017 14:11

Ta das
Finished daily routine
Swish and swipe downstairs loo
Cleaned dining table
Decluttered one drawer in porch - more hats and gloves
Asked friend if she wanted some hand me down baby clothes!
Made opticians appointment

Sandycarrots · 05/10/2017 14:21

[Looks up from chopping mounds of veg.]

Sometimes I wish I had never instigated veggie Thursdays ... Confused

GingerIvy · 05/10/2017 14:38

We were lazy and got takeaway fish and chips for lunch. The local amazing chippy has gluten free batter available (which we just found out) so I think that will be a once a month treat. Grin

Cagliostro · 05/10/2017 15:53

That's great ginger one of our town chippies does a gluten free day once a month I think :)

Sooo glad to be home early today. Epic anxiety while out at the HE club but it was pretty much ok (that won't stop me worrying every time we go though, probably DD too).

Got home to find DD's ASD diagnosis report on the doormat along with a totally unexpected (but much appreciated) referral to occupational therapy.

So added to the to do list is now applying for DLA for both Caglets and to start making contacts for an EHCP. Yikes.

Cagliostro · 05/10/2017 15:55

Also proud mummy moment, DD did so well at climbing that they had to give her extra challenges :o it's really lovely to see her do well at something

Betsy86 · 05/10/2017 17:34

Did my tip run felt good love throwing things in! My messy corner of the garden looks much better now jus need grass cut now!
Thanks for paperwork tips will knuckle down on that over the next few days hopefully!
Same gingerivy my dd has SN and mountains of paperwork i got some files and stuff just need to crack on with it!
Hope everyones had a good day x
