Order, Order! Do you have a little house of horrors? Welcome to the October Flylady thread where we follow the Flylady method for keeping our houses in order (along with some general chat and support). The monthly focus for October is paper clutter

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first. Join us at any point this month Glitterball

I'll post the first October links tonight!

Longtime · 02/10/2017 20:32

Noooooooo, not Christmas already!

Longtime · 02/10/2017 20:38

sandycarrots, another name change? How is dd getting on? Yes, indeed this should be the perfect opportunity to declutter. I want to do it but there is so much I don't know where to start. I have to do the books for dh's company. I normally do them every month but didn't do anything over the summer leaving me with three months to do! I slipped on the stairs a few weeks ago and my ankle hasn't fully recovered which is messing up my plans to do so many things. I really need to get a handle on this decluttering though!!

goldenclaire · 02/10/2017 20:49

Ok, I got two lemon sherbets left up for grabs (throws them in the air and calls a scramble)

Ok this afternoon i hoovered donwstairs, made tea, washed dishes, and wiped down the kitchen.

Your list is huge Hills Shock

Sandycarrots · 02/10/2017 21:22

[Lunges for sherbert. Cue huge explosion of lemon powder. ]

Goldenclaire well done for Flying high today!

[Gulps at prospect of Xmas in 12 weeks.] A chart is a very good idea though to quell the panic a bit!

Bloody hell Hills that's some list! Star

Aye Longtime sorry about confusion, nc constantly since hacking incident. So far so good with dd this term thanks (fingers crossed). Hope yours settling in well. Sorry to hear about ankle. And good luck with books! I am with you re: decluttering - has reached desperate proportions! Also don't know where to start!

Sandycarrots · 02/10/2017 21:24

Actually that last sentence is pretty shameful considering the number of years that I've been on this thread Blush.

Afreshstartplease · 02/10/2017 21:26

I have decluttered myself into my bed Grin

Sandycarrots · 02/10/2017 21:27

Grin Afreshstart

Afreshstartplease · 02/10/2017 21:32

I think i win today....

goldenclaire · 02/10/2017 21:51

If the word christmas is continually flung about on here for the next twelve weeks then i may have to take myself and my lemon sherbets elsewhere. 12 weeks....eeek.

I'm curled up in bed too. Knackered. Oh well another day tomo. Night Smile

CotswoldStrife · 02/10/2017 22:11

Evening all, welcome to Betsy and you too Hills (order the window sealant!)

Good news about not needing the meds Cag

DD has gone to bed after doing an after-school class and a lot of homework. She is good about doing it when cornered like a rat in a trap so long may it continue!

Will post the links next, probably need an early night myself.

Afresh you definitely win today! Grin

I know but I have serious deadlines and a to do list that would scare the shit out of a team of workers let alone one person. Needs must and tomo I am in the office so it will be a rest day, with the exception of some minor essential jobs. Well that is the plan.
Also I am not even going to consider how much caffiene I have drunk but less summarise it with more caffeine than blood ...

HillsBesideTheSea · 02/10/2017 22:36

Claire the christmas thing goes like this:
Make the present now not at the last minute did that last year, BAD plan
Next 6 weeks find the house
2 weeks after clean the house
That takes us pretty much up to december with bake the things and decorate the things.

As there is enough things in the 6 weeks of finding the house to take approximately 20 weeks and is a myriad of jobs that are linked and dependant on each other it has to be planned. other than that I could link you to the holiday flying control journal and its associated missions which aim to get your house clean tidy and under control whilst being stress free in time for thanks giving Promise there is logic to my madness and I try to keep mentions purely to key project management issues. like making sure everyone knows what the fuck they are doing when with a chart... I hate being the grown up sucks ALL the fun out of the holidays. fucking hate christmas

HillsBesideTheSea · 02/10/2017 22:37

is now christmased out for the year. baa humbug

The. end.

HillsBesideTheSea · 02/10/2017 22:42

Anyone got any plans for Halloween?

GingerIvy · 02/10/2017 23:58

Ha. Our Halloween plan is to stay at home and relax.

I won't mention that I ordered a few Christmas presents so that I don't stress out Claire. Xmas Grin oops... sorry... don't look at that!!!

Afreshstartplease · 03/10/2017 06:44

Morning all

4am wake up again. Might try some porridge before bed as he is seeming starving at 4am and think similar helped with you foxes?

Ta da

Washer on
Dryer on
Bottles scrubbed

foxessocks · 03/10/2017 08:13

afresh yes since we started giving ds one weetabix before bed he has been sleeping through until 7 ish (with the exception of a week where he had a cold and was up very early and in the night ). He would wake up crying until he had breakfast and then he'd eat a banana and two weetabix! It won't hurt to try it! Fingers crossed it works, 4am starts are awful.

Cagliostro · 03/10/2017 08:13

Morning all! Definitely not waking up in a House of Order today Hmm

Need to get up ASAP and clear up ready for pupils and do laundry. Mostly a day at home today unless we get to tap class.

foxessocks · 03/10/2017 08:16

Am totally ignoring the paper decluttering. DH can have that joy.

To do
Declutter in porch / hot spots
Daily routine
Swish and swipe downstairs toilet
Planning for the week

GingerIvy · 03/10/2017 08:57

Getting to work in a few minutes on the home ed, then off to the park for the afternoon.

Will likely do some general tidying up. Really need to vacuum the living room thoroughly so hopefully will get the chance to do that this afternoon when we get home again.

goldenclaire · 03/10/2017 09:33

Morning all, its been a slow start to the day here so far, partly because its yet another beautiful autumn blue sky morning here so i took the long walk home from dropping my my boy to school. A pile of breakfast dishes in the kitchen sink and a washing pile in the living room are calling me though Blush
