Order, Order! Do you have a little house of horrors? Welcome to the October Flylady thread where we follow the Flylady method for keeping our houses in order (along with some general chat and support). The monthly focus for October is paper clutter

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first. Join us at any point this month Glitterball

I'll post the first October links tonight!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/10/2017 18:32

zoo Brew. Glad at least some progress has been made Cag.

Ta da:-
Tried to tidy downstairs while DDs got out toys and clothes upstairs Hmm.
Trip into town to get card for DD1’s homework
DD1 has done some homework
Helped DD2 with some of her homework
Both DDs in PJs
Organised some things to take to charity shop

To do:-
Have coffee
Tidy kitchen
Laundry check

Had to laugh, told DDs they needed to tidy up living room before watching a programme. DD2 carefully ‘wrote’ a list of what she needed to tidy. By the time she had finished her list DD1 and I had tidied the room Grin.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/10/2017 18:33

Also forgot we went for a walk in autumn leaves.

foxessocks · 24/10/2017 20:02

Hi all, had a busy day today and then last minute we decided to go out for dinner. I actually did some paper decluttering last night!

Hope all going well cag

Handygarrottes · 24/10/2017 20:36

Evening all. A work day today (can you tell the boss is coming back tomorrow Wink )so not much else done apart from laundry x 4 loads and a bit of sorting of washed clothes.

DD has spent the last 45 minutes telling me the frightening things that would happen if you dropped francium in water and rather disturbing it was too! Grin

Did not do anything in boudoir (again) although it is looking just a tad bit less crammed than before having put away clothes/sorted a few boxes yesterday!

Cag continuing to think of you and sending prayers and positive vibes xx

Hot water bottle and Cake for Zoo

A walk among autumn leaves sounds lovely Toostressy!

Yay to the paper decluttering Foxes Star

Waves to Cotswold Longtime Afreshstart Honu Jellyfish Whoknows and everyone else I've missed (sorry can't scroll on this particular device!)

G'night all!

Handygarrottes · 24/10/2017 20:37

*Did not do anything in boudoir (again) although it is looking just a tad bit less crammed than before having put away clothes/sorted a few boxes yesterday!

^Actually, that could just be wishful thinking Confused

Handygarrottes · 24/10/2017 20:56

Your DD2 sounds like me Toostressy beautiful lists but actioning of them a bit more problematic Grin

FlyingJellyfishInTheAttic · 24/10/2017 21:02

I have started the morning and evening routines and wow what a difference! Makes life easier and makes me feel more motivated!

I've tidied and cleaned bathroom, took DD swimming and for food and done organising activities etc.

Handygarrottes · 24/10/2017 21:17

That's great Jellyfish! Good to hear the system is working for you!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/10/2017 21:43

That’s fab Jellyfish Smile. I have become a bit slack with my evening routine actually - you have inspired me to do one tonight Smile.

Well it all went a bit wrong just before bedtime. Had put DDs up to watch telly before bed as normal and was going to have a coffee and tidy up downstairs. It lasted 5 mins then the bickering and messing around started. I had lost the will - had been winning (by relatively low standards Grin) at parenting all day and really just wanted a coffee and a few mins to myself before facing bedtime and was shouty and annoyed and both DDs went to bed crying Sad. My fault really as should either have sat with them or just put them straight to bed.

Luckily after I put both of them to bed I felt too guilty and went in and apologised and we went to bed friends again. Pretty sure you are not meant to try to be friends with your kids but we all felt better Smile.

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/10/2017 21:58

stressy if we end day on battle lines i feel obliged go in once dust settles and have cuddle.i cant bear that thought them try sleep fretting theyve upset me/i might not like them.not condusive to calm end to the day

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/10/2017 22:01

Battle lines is a good way of putting it! Hope you’re feeling better zoo. Also, Star for yesterday’s paper decluttering foxes.

Big wing flaps to all.

CotswoldStrife · 25/10/2017 00:27

Ugh, attempting to update elderly technology, think I've nearly cracked it now. Weather looking better for tomorrow morning so have outdoor experience planned we'll see

Cag hope you are all doing OK I'm thinking of you often.

I'll post the links next. It has been quiet today, a combination of me not leading the thread well and that darn 'keep the lights on' adblocker message that pops up on every page for me!

Good morning all!

Just wanted to say to Cotswold that your thread running is brill!! Flowers so please don't say otherwise! Smile. It's always quiet on here around half term. I don't have ad-blocker thing but have seen some grumbles about it!

Cag still thinking of you xx

Hope everyone has a good day! Bit of a killer one here which includes work work, a plumber, opticians, a dog trainer, a volunteer meeting, a friend dropping off a car, a computer technician, and meetings with eight teachers at parents evening, so had better get on with it!

Handygarrottes · 25/10/2017 06:59

Ta da:
ironed uniform
made unnecessary lunch sandwiches for dd (forgot its half day )
emptied dw
tidied up breakfast things
shone sink and wiped down surfaces
cleaned stove top
sorted washing for fortnightly ironing lady
dining room table hot spots full of paperwork so left them
finished half a drawing for potential juice label
2 x laundry in
waved off dd who is very anxious about tests poor thing

Right, off out the door myself now! Have a good day everyone!

Hope you are feeling better today Zoo Brew

Ps.i am hounded by pop ups on here.driving me doolally....

CotswoldStrife · 25/10/2017 07:36

The pop-ups are so irritating, I know MNHQ have said they are looking in to them but it is an extremely off-putting factor!

Managed to update the old piece of technology last night but had forgotten that the charging socket was dodgy so now I can't charge it back up - DD is going to be a bit disappointed but we'll work on it.

Stunning ta-da list for this time of the morning handy/SC

Still sending our very best labour wishes to Cag and Cagletini Star

HillsBesideTheSea · 25/10/2017 10:04

HQ also said some slightly ott stuff about people who use ad blockers and/or don't click on ads. Going to be honest. It might just be the shove I need to finally once and for all quit my mn habit. Especially as the add blocker/keep the lights on banner has been blocker 2/3rd my screen/mn the last few days making MN unusable.

Had a few days rest. Not enough by even the smallest stretch of the imagination but there is a crap ton of stuff that needs to be done.

to do

HillsBesideTheSea · 25/10/2017 10:05

Zoo you can block pop ups without blocking ads.

CotswoldStrife · 25/10/2017 10:52

I have pop ups blocked as well (I'm on of the free-riding ones referred to, obviously) but that one does pop up (the keep the lights on one).

Pottering around and tidying this morning, DD has decided we'll go out this afternoon instead of this morning so I hope the lovely weather we have currently holds out until then!

I don't think I've done any of the mission this week so far Blush will have to play catch up tonight!

OP posts:
foxessocks · 25/10/2017 15:02

hello everyone! I think half term means that people (definitely me!) are a bit out of "routine" so nothing to do with your excellent thread leadership skills cotswold!

Ta das
daily routine
decluttered in bedroom (got rid of an old handbag that I'm definitely not going to use again and found loads of plasters, crayons and pretend money in it - shame no real money!!)
swish and swipe upstairs bathroom
took both children swimming by myself - and actually managed it without any tears from anyone not even me!

to do
today's mission
paper decluttering
sort out clothes for friend's baby
email tesco about my mop which is already not working very well (hope nobody bought one on my earlier recommendation - it was really good to start with!!)
