Order, Order! Do you have a little house of horrors? Welcome to the October Flylady thread where we follow the Flylady method for keeping our houses in order (along with some general chat and support). The monthly focus for October is paper clutter

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first. Join us at any point this month Glitterball

I'll post the first October links tonight!

After half term would be great sc. Are you going away? I’m going to visit the dcs and also (mainly actually) my dm.

Any news cag?

Tada

Small tip run (tip of the iceberg)
Caught up with our personal finance spreadsheets (though still haven’t finished the third quarter books)
Paid some bills
Put some washing on (and have just remembered it’s sitting in the washing machine)
Shouted at dh, not once but twice 😢

Sad day today as it’s 9 months/39 weeks since my df died, hence the shouting as I was over emotional. Dh won’t have known the significance of the day and I chose not to tell him which was maybe a bit mean of me.

To do tomorrow:

The end of quarter books (and stop procrastinating!)
Start preparing Dutch presentation
Have lunch with friends I haven’t seen for years
Spend some lovely time with dd (which will entail helping her in some way with her project, I can see it coming!)
Look out for baby cag

Cagliostro · 23/10/2017 02:22

Aw longtime I'm sorry about your dad Thanks no wonder the day was such a struggle. Hope today is easier.

Trust me cotswold I am desperate to take a photo here! But still zip all going on, had my second prostin pessary 6 hours ago and although I was having contractions for a while they were super mild. Have managed to get some sleep though.

Sooooo bored!!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/10/2017 04:53
Sandycarrots · 23/10/2017 07:11

Good morning all! Hands over Brew to Zoo.

Thinking of you this morning Cag! Hope the wait isn't too long for you today and that you managed to get a bit of sleep overnight. xxxx

Sorry you had such a tough day yesterday Longtime Flowers. Have pm'd you about the holidays (among other things) hope you have a good one!

Thank you for links Cotswold and ignore my joshing about the photo Grin. Hadn't noticed we have Halloween Smile Halloween emoticons already. Must try and think of a suitable nc!

Ta da:
rabbit
dd packed lunch
overnight washing hung up
wms fed again
tidy up b

Well it's very calm and peaceful chez SC this morning without dh (unusual on a Monday morning as he normally travels mid-week). So lovely coming down to a shiny sink and sparkling surfaces (well, as sparkling as this house ever gets!) not to have to tidy up the fall-out from various complex breakfast dishes! Have already got so much more done than normal!

Determined to power through some tasks today but there is so much that needs doing I'm a bit rabbit in headlights. You know when you have immediate-, medium- and long-term projects on and you don't quite know what priority to give which? Its not as easy as saying "do the immediate first" because the more long-term things need starting off in order to get done in time ifyswim.

To do:
First thing: Make soup and tonight and tomorrow's supper and an after-school tray-bake, plus some healthy cookies for lunches and some apple compote from windfall apples. Then I can forget about food for today and tomorrow.

Then have to do a few things left over from Friday's list Blush, carry on with laundry, and sort some on-line items. Plus home bleugh of course.

Had better get cracking!

Have a productive start to the week everyone!

Cagliostro · 23/10/2017 07:28

No baby yet! She is far too happy in there. Little madam. Staff are soooo lovely though and I did manage a fair bit of sleep considering. Just waiting for breakfast.

Handygarrottes · 23/10/2017 07:43

foxessocks · 23/10/2017 08:05

CotswoldStrife · 23/10/2017 11:28

Glad you got a bit of sleep Cag, rest up while you can. Thinking of you!

I still have plenty of paper clutter to work on too Handy, we still have a week to go but right now I am about to play a game with DD so it will be waiting a while longer

Looking forward to the half term break though, I love having DD home - she'll be getting to cool to spend time with her mum in a year or two so I'm enjoying it while I can Grin

Oh yes,

  • knocked over a whole container of cornflakes which went everywhere over kitchen floor
  • then went downstairs to laundry and knocked over a whole box of washing powder which went everywhere too
Confused

CotswoldStrife · 23/10/2017 15:41

Oh Cag, she's determined to hang on there - obviously someone who knows her own mind from the word go Smile

Have they said what the next step would be?

I am pottering around tidying slowly but just came on to the laptop to research something and saw that you'd posted on the thread so was hopeful!

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 23/10/2017 15:51

Not sure what next stage is TBH, if anyone gets a spare moment I will ask them. They are totally rushed off their feet here today it's noisy chaos. I know they would do one more pessary six hours after this one but after that I don't know.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/10/2017 15:54

I love how you have put your induction into ta das Cag Grin. Glad the gas and air is good and that the staff are lovely. Hope you see some change soon.

Thanks for links Cotswold. Sorry to hear about spillages SC!

Ta da:-
DD1 at activity all day - just about to pick her up
DD2 went to soft play and said it was too busy and loud (half term) Confused.
DH able to help this afternoon so he has taken DD2 ahead to gymnastics - going to join him with DD1 in a bit.
Also the best ta da... sewed on a gymnastics badge (badly) in 10 minutes!! It usually takes me ages but had forgotten it needed doing by today so I got it done in the 10 minutes I had spare Grin.

To do:-
DDs’ gymnastics
Bedtime etc
Sort out stuff from DD1’s day today with her.

Big wing flaps to all.

foxessocks · 23/10/2017 16:35

Ta das
Everything except the downstairs loo and I think I won't bother with that since dh is currently pulling our porch ceiling down Confusedand ds is clinging to me as he doesn't like the noise

The dust and bits of ceiling in my living room are stressing me out a little....as is the fact that ds has slept for about 30 minutes today and that's it.

cag hope things get under way soon!
sc you have done so much today! Yum Apple crumble.
toostressy I'm with your dd on soft play in half term! It's bad enough in term time!

foxessocks · 23/10/2017 16:36

To do
Make dinner (sausage tomato pasta)
Declutter one box of paperwork after kids in bed

Handygarrottes · 23/10/2017 18:32

Ta da:
td washing when finished
two more loads washing in
keep eye on crumble and veg bake
rubbish and recycling
help dd revision with for interrogation certificative (tests)
serve supper and tidy up (well, did the first bit!)

have also folded pants and towels
and done an on-line shopping order for winter (outdoor) boots

Thanks Foxes! Typically, I did all the enjoyable cooking and very little of the home bleugh! So sorry you have DIY stresses to contend with, on top of broken nights!

Hope first day of half term went well Toostressy and Cotswold!
We have another week to go yet! Poor dd is upstairs, swotting away for her maths test tomorrow (10% of the marks count towards Christmas report).

Absolutely love your double "to da" lists today Cag! They should be preserved for posterity somehow! Smile So sorry you are having to endure such a long wait. I hope the environment isn't too stressful and that you can relax and repose a bit ... Flowers

foxessocks · 23/10/2017 19:00

Ah I can't really complain about broken nights anymore as ds is pretty reliably sleeping through (although he did get up once last night and dd woke up twice for a drink and a cuddle Hmm) but he is really fighting naps and tbh I really just feel desperate for a break by lunchtime!! It's nothing much to moan about though just typical small children stuff!

More annoying is that my sausage pasta was a disaster!

Longtime · 23/10/2017 19:02

Hope things start moving soon cag!

You’ve all done so much today! How to find time/the inclination, especially to cook?

Tada
Cleared a space in the garage to move table tennis table out sorting out a bit as I went
Loaded dishwasher
Paid more bills

That’s it! I had students and went to lunch but I have achieved very little today ☹️

To do
Put dishwasher on and eventually unload
Put out washing before it starts smelling
Do some more of the bloody books!!
Stop procrastinating!

CotswoldStrife · 23/10/2017 23:17

Good first day here, spent most of it relaxing although will be out and about over the next few days if I buy DD some new wellies that fit.

Hope you are doing OK Cag.

Good morning fledglings, a bit grey and rainy here today for our second day of our half-term break.

DD is playing inside on computer/Wii, I've cooked pancakes for breakfast and done a fair bit of washing up. Just tidying around while she is occupied.

Will probably head out this afternoon after lunch, so will press on this morning.

Cag hope it's going well for you all at the moment.
