Order, Order! Do you have a little house of horrors? Welcome to the October Flylady thread where we follow the Flylady method for keeping our houses in order (along with some general chat and support). The monthly focus for October is paper clutter

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first. Join us at any point this month Glitterball

I'll post the first October links tonight!

Ta da:
emptied dw and filled with breakfast things
ordered folding table for second hand sale
two texts sorting social arrangements
sorted yet more piles of laundry
3 x loads of towels on to wash
pair 1000 socks (or so it seemed)

To do:
sort lunch for DD & me & tidy kitchen again
finish ironing and put away laundered clothes
dining table hotspots
empty bathroom cupboard completely
clean & re-fill with on-line toiletries order
clear spare bed in boudoir which is covered in junk again (sigh)
rest of boudoir
sort jam jars and lids in to smaller, portable boxes for half term
have a crack at designing juice bottle label
more laundry and calandering

Sandycarrots · 20/10/2017 12:07

Where do you all keep wash bags btw? We have loads!

We have one each for w/es that tend to stay filled as we are back and forth and larger ones for holidays that are stored empty/flat for longer hols, and dh has standard work travel one that is always on the go! Never know where to put them all!

Cagliostro · 20/10/2017 14:30

I have no idea as I'm not nearly organised enough to have such things as prepacked wash bags 😳 Actually I'm not even sure where my empty wash bag is which is a shame as I could probably do with packing it 🤔😂

Cagliostro · 20/10/2017 14:35

So I have mostly packed now - small case for baby, big case for me, and a big case of extra stuff for both of us as a back up if we need to stay in. Just need to sort toiletries and medicines but can't really do that until Sunday morning as we need the stuff before that.

Also have sorted out loads of baby clothes into the next couple of sizes up, and also went through a big box of clothes sent to me, it is more than we need and the sender said to pass on any we don't need so I have sorted out some for my newly-fostering friend (always possible they will get a newborn placed in their care)

About to quaff another gross tea. I won't miss this.

Sandycarrots · 20/10/2017 15:19

Oh Cag that all sound so exciting!! Bloomin well done too! Hope you can relax a bit now knowing the essentials are done!

Not really organised re: wash bags - more like haven't bothered to empty out between trips!!

foxessocks · 20/10/2017 16:27

well done cag you're getting there!!

SC I have two or three wash bags and I think dh has one, we keep them in our bedside table cupboards. I don't have any prepacked ones though (don't go away enough haha!)

ta das
emptied nappy and bathroom bins
dh has hoovered downstairs
more laundry (have been making sure I hang it up as soon as it's finished)
decluttered the rest of ds wardrobe
shined bathroom sink and scoured round the taps so it looks quite a lot better (I mean it's never going to look perfect since it's ancient but hey ho!)

time for a little sit down before I finally make my tuna nicoise!! Never made it before so hope it goes down ok with everyone. Think the dc will like the hard boiled eggs a lot. DH might not be so happy at having salad for dinner.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

foxessocks · 20/10/2017 16:28

May run myself a warm bath tonight and try again.

Just had steroid injection #1, owwwww

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/10/2017 18:03

Be worth it when you hold your new baby.x

Cagliostro · 20/10/2017 20:47

Having a lie down on comfy new bed (although it's covered in random baby stuff ATM so I'm scrunched in the corner). Had a splurge on Amazon for pretty much no reason. Retail therapy?!

Cagliostro · 20/10/2017 21:33

Small achievement, finally finished reading Matilda to DS. It's been months because I've been so slack with it! But there was only half a chapter left and it would annoy me if left unfinished with that tiny amount to go. DD has two books we are halfway through (little princess and the usborne version of the odyssey) so I can live with that.

Cagliostro · 20/10/2017 21:56

Right I'm off to do the warm up of my pregnancy DVD one last time and then drink more tea before prodding my boobs again. #pregnancyglamour

I may push the boat out and have a tiny amount of dark chocolate too. I am soooo hungry today. Some of my amazon spending was treaty food for after baby is here

HillsBesideTheSea · 20/10/2017 23:05

Bollocks, I forgot the medicinal bag of peas on the landing and now there is a puddle that smells of mildly gone off peas.

cag safe adventuring this weekend. Take all the time you wish before you return but don't feel you have to be flying. You are more than welcome to come rant or just natter. Always a seat in the naughty corner for mums and new babys!

Cagliostro · 20/10/2017 23:36

Oh I'm barely Flying now TBH all I plan on doing is cuddling and feeding tiny new person :o but I expect I will be in to chat so I'll be dragging a nice rocking chair and heaps of cushions to the haughty corner when I return :o

DH is now off work for 3 weeks, tomorrow we just have DD's dance class, new washing machine arriving and I have to go get my other injection (I'm going to ask for it in my thigh as they won't do the same arm again, but my other arm still hurts from Monday's flu jab Hmm). Apart from that it'll all be last minute tidying. Quite worried what the midwives will think when they visit Blush.

DSD coming to stay in the evening, she's home from uni and will be babysitting while we go to the hospital on Sunday ❤️

I should probably sleep, need to clear the bed first!

Cagliostro · 20/10/2017 23:36

And thank you Thanks and muchos sympathy on the peas

Longtime · 20/10/2017 23:39

Tadas

Survived Dutch lesson where I had to give my one minute presentation (no time to mess up or hesitate in one minute!). It wasn’t too bad given my horrific fear of public speaking.

Tidied ds2’s room and made his bed, cleared his desk and moved the pc from my computer corner in the conservatory and the iMac from the living room up to his desk (does a tada count if you’re just moving stuff from one room to another?)

Finished clearing computer corner in conservatory (now just need to move the desk)
Changed all the sheets
Washed the towels
Dried the towels

To do tomorrow

Food shopping
Fold and put away towels
Collect dd from Calais!!!!!!!

Longtime · 20/10/2017 23:40

I’m very excited for your new person cag even though I don’t really know you!

CotswoldStrife · 20/10/2017 23:43

Cag I was absolutely, genuinely advised to eat dark chocolate and dried apricots when I was anaemic after giving birth to DD. You are just taking sensible precautions there

There may be a washbag on the floor of my bedroom now next to a partly unpacked vanity case. I keep them in the top of my wardrobe usually (on a shelf). We have done less travelling this year though so probably not necessary but it is filled.

Hills we also have a small freezer bag of peas for first aid.

Well, we made it through the week and it's half-term here now. Not before time either, I'm really looking forward to it. Had quite a nice day looking round the posh shops I don't usually get to go into when my daughter just wants to look at her faves instead

Will do the links next, waves to all fledglings and here's to a good weekend for us all.

Cagliostro · 21/10/2017 06:24

Ooh didn't realise that about dark chocolate and iron. I have had to stick to small amounts of it so as not to mess up blood sugars but I shall have plenty left after the birth. Good shout on the apricots too, good for post birth, erm, regularity also. :o

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/10/2017 09:54

Grin it is always like that on the last chance for a good night's sleep before a big adventure.

I otoh do not want to be up and it has taken nearly two hours of every 4mins snooze alarm to get me to a point where my eyes are open. Not convinced I am awake though. Coffee anyone?

Sandycarrots · 21/10/2017 15:41

Arf at peas Hills! Grin

Hope you are resting Cag even if sleep is eluding you!

Many congrats on Dutch presentation Longtime and on first aid course Zoo!

Hope you have a lovely time with your DD Longtime! Smile Btw, happened to see Flemish legal drama Professor T on More4 last night with Eng sub-titles, great for practicing one's Dutch!

Thanks for all the wash-bag info! I wish I had been sensible like Foxes and bought bedside tables with drawers! Guess they will float around in sea of crap with every other homeless thing in this house! (For newcomers, for reasons too complicated to explain, I live in big, old, crumbling unrenovated house with lots of holes in floors and walls with bits dropping off! Have been "camping" here with mismatched furniture and stuff in cardboard boxes for well over a decade; tis not pretty!Grin)

Can you tell I am totally and woefully unmotivated today and need your pointiest of sticks pls Zoo?

Ta for links Cotswold if only I could bring myself to actually do 'em!! Realised I rely far too much on the the furry to get me going in the mornings; a wagging tail and flappy ears are hard to resist Grin

Sandycarrots · 21/10/2017 15:44

Sorry, point of last sentence is furry is away currently.

And meant to say, enjoy your half term holiday Cotswold! Ours is next week and I can't wait!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/10/2017 16:15

Hello all. Just back from all going swimming in the hope it would tire out DDs... nope Hmm. Debated starting a thread for ideas many times on here but fear I would just be told to stand outside with them all day and make them run Grin. Perhaps I’ll Google instead.

All had a snack and they are hopefully going to watch a film with DH so it has sort of worked. I am going to watch telly on my phone do a quick tidy up and figure out what on earth we will have for tea. Online shop coming tomorrow so need to trawl freezer tonight I think.

Thanks for links Cotswold. Washbags.... DH has one which is on it’s last legs but has sentimental value. I have one which is ok but not great. Both DDs have various little bags, none of which are really fit for purpose. I store them empty (although after bitter experience mine does tend to have a few bits, deodorant, hair clips etc in case I forget something essential) and we just chuck stuff in when we pack. One day I will become more organised. If I travelled more I would definitely keep one packed with miniatures as it makes life much easier - I used to do that in my youth.

Cag BearBearBear eeek so close now. I think getting a good night’s sleep is almost impossible when you feel so pressured to do so and would add my vote to the idea of focusing on resting. I remember the feeling so well of being about to have a baby, such a strange, fairly unique set of feelings.

Well done on presentation longtime.
Big wing flaps to all and happy half term for those who have it.
