Order, Order! Do you have a little house of horrors? Welcome to the October Flylady thread where we follow the Flylady method for keeping our houses in order (along with some general chat and support). The monthly focus for October is paper clutter

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first. Join us at any point this month Glitterball

I'll post the first October links tonight!

Ds took pity on my last night. I had to run an errand in another town and due to all the fog it took longer to get home than hoped. He cooked me an omelette for tea and helped me with some chores. I am under no illusion we had an argument before I left and he had obviously thought about it and realise he was in danger of losing privileges as a result. But it is progress as in the past he would continue to argue about the same thing when I got back. Besides it is always nice when you don't have to cook tea. he didn't do the washing up but i will forgive him as he left minimal mess

Just trying to find motivation to move. Slowly getting there.

Morning all!

[Double take] Shock Grin Grin Grin

Toffffffeeeeeeeee!!!!!! Wow! [SC here.] How utterly fantastic to see you!!!!! You are much missed [dabs eye with corner of handkerchief]!!!

How are you? And the boys? How are they doing? Are they still happy at their respective schools? And your job? (What happened with the horrid boss woman?) Will you still be in striking distance of the Chunnel when you move? [Don't answer obviously if you don't want to!!] it's just so lovely to "see" you!!

Yes, some of us old-timers are still around! Oncewaswho (I'm sure you can guess Wink) pops in intermittently and Honu is still lurking! [Waves to Honu] My house isn't in that much better a state tbh than when you were on here but it isn't any worse either Grin

Very, very best of luck with all the packing and unpacking and wishing you and your family every happiness in your new home Flowers Cake and a crate of Gin for afterwards!!!

Sandycarrots · 19/10/2017 10:08

I have no fucking clue what is for tea. I actually have no idea when people are home for tea or if people are home for tea at the same time. So it makes planning a bit of a pita.

Today has not gone to plan. Hmm understatement And not sure how to rescue it tbh.

Longtime · 19/10/2017 17:12

Cag, Sunday 😮😁
Hills, ☹️ , sounds tough
Toostressy, congratulations on your wedding anniversary!

Sc, thank you for the stains tips. I’ll definitelymm have a go with something. We have a piano here and I’m ashamed to say it never gets played. I played a lot until I was about 15/16 but then had better things to do with my time than to practise two hours a night for grade 8, or so I thought. The things the older me would tell the younger me ... I did intend to start again now I’m an empty nester but still haven’t had time or maybe not enough motivation. I blame the weather. It’s messing with my head. How can it be almost half term when it’s still summer outside?

Finally went to the doctor about my ankle. Turns out I’ve been walking and tapping on a fractured ankle for the past five weeks! It’s only a small fracture apparently but would explain why, after the initial improvement, there doesn’t seem to have been much change.

Cagliostro · 19/10/2017 17:52

Oh gosh longtime ouch!!! What do they do treatment wise?

Procrastination paid off today. Recently I ordered a Moses basket on Amazon, found it cheaper elsewhere and ordered it but when I went to cancel the amazon one it wouldn't let me (half an hour after ordering Hmm). So we had two and I hadn't even opened the Amazon package, let alone got round to returning it.

But today a dear friend got a call about a new foster child and we were all talking about what she needed for a baby and I realised I had a spare basket, so she has collected it. It made me really happy to give it to her :) :)

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/10/2017 18:06

Thanks for all anniversary wishes. Sorry to hear about your foot longtime, sounds painful. Glad to hear MIL's partner sort of ok foxes but sorry to hear about the accident. Love the witch faces too zoo Halloween Smile. Where is the year going??!

Big wing flaps to all.

Work day today so not a huge amount of flying done yet but tea is nearly ready (posh M&S ready meal Halloween Grin) and I have put a tiny bit of laundry away so not too bad really.

To do:-
Evening routine
Watch rubbish telly

Possibly something productive if I can summon up the energy.

foxessocks · 19/10/2017 20:55

Ooh love a bit of m&s food toostressy . Thanks for the chocs zoo. Thanks toostressy think he can leave hospital tomorrow morning which is good.

Have been scoffing pumpkin pie Halloween Smile

Sandycarrots · 19/10/2017 22:59

Evening all. Zero Flying done here today except a bit of ironing and packing for dh - have done 7 hrs office work - and still have a few more hours to get through tonight (dh leaving at crack of sparrows and need to finish PowerPoint presentation to which bits keep being added!). And time was eaten up today by sitting in traffic jams taking DD to tutor and taking furry to behaviorist; there is a summit on here ATM and centre of town was a nightmare of restricted routes and security cordons. So bad at one point thought I was going to have to turn back.

Longtime so sorry to hear about your foot which sounds v painful! Hope it mends speedily! My dsis2 has returned to piano playing now she is an empty-nester and is finding it enjoyable but hard-going!

Foxes glad to hear your mil's partner is not too badly hurt and sorry to hear your day was tough going (hope tomorrow easier!). Oh and don't be out off by our "oldies" talk ... just cos thread very long running ... equally lovely to have newbies and in-betweeners on here too!

So lovely about the basket Cag!

Yay to your ds and his kindly chef skills Hills

Had better get back to it; waves to everyone else!

Sandycarrots · 19/10/2017 23:01

It's Fri-yay!

Morning fledglings, I am off out for the morning. Going to have a wander around the posh shops on my own for a bit. Back later on - see you then (obviously a complete lack of flying this morning Blush )

Cagliostro · 20/10/2017 10:29

Morning! Feeling totally paralysed by it all today TBH.

In a wobbly mood as I really messed up some admin with sports club which resulted in someone going there when there wasn't a session :( and I'm also trying to express colostrum (recommended to mums with GD) and getting NOTHING :(

Back to feeling super panicky and unproductive which just makes me more panicky because there's so much to do and I don't know how to do any of it :(

foxessocks · 20/10/2017 10:55

cag sympathies - deep breaths, it will be OKAY. Is there something small you can do just to start off with and then reward yourself with a break?! Baby steps! (literally!)

SC I'm not put off don't worry - I love the warmth on this thread! Luckily the cat didn't poo on the new bath mat yesterday as I hadn't actually put it in the bath yet! Today I am chucking her out of the house before we go out - storm Brian or no storm Brian

Ta das
daily routine
renewed library books

to do
Empty nappy bin
declutter car, bag, purse
declutter in ds room
shine the bathroom sink

Cagliostro · 20/10/2017 11:24

Thank you foxes the anxiety was ramping right up for a while there. I have now had a cup of (yucky raspberry leaf) tea and am now finishing hospital bags. I'm also doing an extra bag just in case I have to stay in longer, so extra clothes maternity pads baby stuff snacks etc. Will take any need to think out of the equation hopefully!

Also sorting through all the baby clothes I bought and the ones from the baby shower, I'm taking the smaller size to hospital but the others have all been shoved in a box so sorting them will help (and calm me down)

Sandycarrots · 20/10/2017 11:52

That's great going Cag! Agree that small steps are the way to go!

That's a relief about cat poo Foxes!

Dh has departed on yet more travels leaving a whirlwind trail of destruction behind him as usual! All the rooms I tidied earlier in wk need doing again now! I was still typing until early hrs so it was hard getting up to see him and dd off at crack of sparrows this morning and I had just decided that as furry is absent at behaviourist, , and weather is foul, pouring with rain etc, that I might sneak back to bed for an hour, when DD came back through the door pale as anything suffering from hideous period pain bad enough to make her faint in class, and at same time seriously pissed off that she is missing chemistry. Sometimes, life is not fair for girls I reckon Sad. Heigh ho...

Loads to do but serious motivation problem right now! Do bored of doing same chores over and over and never achieving anything concrete, and people only noticing when it is NOT done... but I know I will feel even worse if I let it drift and still be faced with it tomorrow, so had better get on!

Have a good day everyone and ta for links Cotswold!
